My patience is running thin. I don't give up my time, money and emotional commitment to see a flat midfield about ten feet in front of the back four, lumping the ball to one man who can win flick ons to nobody as there is nobody near him. Square passes directly to feet, not in front.

At 2-0 down, we defended a corner yet had absolutely nobody on the half way line. If we had even one player there, they must have two. Far too many changes every game, the players are rigid in their positioning, no fluidity, no creativity is allowed. No pace in midfield. Utter shite. He only went on that run after Slade went because Slade went! I'd have no issues with dismissing him now.

Plenty of managers would want this job I think it’s a bit of a hobby for MJ and he’s not really interested whether we win or loose.
Posted by: devs, October 19, 2019, 6:17pm; Reply: 17
Tondeurs first question should have been
" Why did you start with one of the least creative midfields you could possibly pick?"
QU 2:
"Do you not think that with that midfield and no width we are bound to play hoof ball?"

But of course all we get is bad day at the office shite

If he picked a more balanced team we'd be fine - like the front six at Exeter

Hanson/Green should be subs - that has become clear IMO

Felt very sorry for Akheem today - feeding off scraps which were high balls in non dangerous areas that all he could do was flick on... to who?

Jolley is turning into a very defensive and non risk manager - it could cost him in the end

We have the players IMO to play at speed, to feet, and with width

But we are miles off with that starting line up

Hard to believe that last month we were 3-0 away to the unbeaten leaders.

To totally misquote the question put to George Best, “where did it all go wrong for you Michael?”.

He made all the changes to the side that everybody here suggested after the last game and we got hammered. What does that say about the tactical knowledge of this forum?  ;D

All you can do is baw when we lose and pretend that he didn't do the exact thing that you all wanted and still lost. Since getting promoted to L2 we've had 5 different managers and you still want a new manager each time we lose a few games in a row. The Fishy is a place full of people with no loyalties or morals. You pretend to be loyal when you have some glory but as soon as you don't you're ready to pull the knives out, the fact you only want to discuss past glory says it all.

Should change "sing when we're fishing" to "Sing when we're winning" because it's closer to reality.  ;D. If I were playing for this club I wouldn't want to give anything for you sad girl privates.

3.  we’ve lost 3 in the bounce and a wise man once said any manager is 6 games from the sack ...

In reality though, we’re an unfashionable team in an unfashionable part of the world. When we recruited Jolley who else was actually interested in the job? Who would want it now?

If you look at the club we’ve always been unfashionable, add into that a history of poor budgets, under performing and sackings (4 managers since promotion shows we’re trigger happy) as well as an uncertain future with regards ownership then who in their right mind would want to manage Grimsby Town?

Our position is about where we should be with our budget. It’s rare for a team to achieve beyond their budget. So it’s arguable that Jolley’s overall performance is acceptable.

My preference would be to remain with Jolley, to allow him to develop. We’re a streaky side but a lot are at this level.

I understand why people would call for his head but I don’t see a viable alternative and I don’t think that he’s actually doing as bad a job as people are saying.

Yes. Doesn't it just make your blood boil though Herts to think that a really up and at 'em performance from the kick off against a poor side like Orient would have achieved that? Instead we are fannying about with Subbuteo and FIFA manager selections and tactics like it's some kind of academic exercise. I'm surprised him and Limbrick haven't got a wi-fi link in the dug out and a laptop in there.

At present Hanson only get the ball hoofed up to him, when he should be on the end of crosses.

We need a settled back four, it should only change due to injuries. Especially at fullback!

We should set up to win the match, not to counter/match the opposition. If we fall behind then and only then should we change it.

We should know our best team and best formation !

The substitutions today made little difference, we were still too narrow, resulting in limited threat .

I believe that Jolly is incapable of delivering any of this.

Rolling six month contract, give him six months notice now and replace him within the six months or give him a new deal if he pulls it around [Unlikely]. If he goes an interim appointment until the right man is found.

Slade was sacked with 17 defeats from his 38 league games. Jolley has now lost 17 of his last 38 league games.

Next Friday is 6 months until the end of the season. Michael Jolley has a 6 month rolling contract. I think we should give serious consideration to giving Jolley his 6 month notice period. If he suddenly starts achieving the level of performance and results expected then he can have a new contract. If he doesn't we can get rid of him at the end of the season without having to compensate him or sooner but with only having to pay him the remainder of his notice period.

my suspicion from his post match interview is that he's very reactionary to results, he talks a lot about how we conceded the four goals, so we get a bad result and then spend a week trying to rectify that instead of just trying to move on and keep doing what was working the week before. Just a theory

Absolutely. Fannied about with the pathetic starting line up that a totally average (at best) team has smashed us 4-0 on our own patch. Watch the way we play and tell me there’s some sort of method, because I’m not seeing it. I’m fast running out of patience with false dawns and tinkering and f@cking useless performances. Every team has an off day. Bad luck. A poor run even. Post match interview ? Waste of time. Thanks John. Thanks Michael. Avoid the issues. Last three games - utter dogsh1t.

I would agree with you even more if it was the same players in the side from game to game barring injury and loss of form. The team has no shape or strategy and seemingly no idea whether to sh1t, shave or shower when they get the ball. So how can they work during the week when it looks as though nobody knows who is in the side until the side is chosen over fish and chips on Saturday dinner time?

But I think you are right about him being a micro-manager instead of seeing the big picture.

This is a really poor league, it was an opportunity to kick on. That said - although there is improvement in some ways there are also many question marks.

It can’t be easy defensively when there is no continuity in line ups, both in defence and midfield- far too much unnecessary chopping and changing. Tactically there are question marks in the manager - he’s been here long enough now and has his own players to build/have an identity - not sure it’s there tbh.

That said - can’t keep chopping and changing managers  - doesn’t help, but Jolley has to recognise own errors and rectify quickly - Jan window last opportunity to get what needs in, get a style/team and stick with it. Confidence game is football - it can come and go before you know it - but help yourself and players by having confidence in them, back those to play in right positions and gel - age/experience regardless.

From outside looking in we don’t have the ability/quality/mentality to be a Hurst like 1-0 nick a win and defend. So it’s a Keegan like we score 4 you score 3 if needs be - pace, width and a midfield creator, and a striker to put ‘em away.

Another wide man, better midfield to create so Hess can mop up, we don’t need lots doing in January - but it’s up to Jolley to stick with personnel and give them the best opportunity. And himself.

I would add that he has strong loyalties to certain players with Ohman & Hendrie top of that list. Hendrie has not had a great start to the season and should have had some time out the side, he clearly has talent but is just out of form..

Recalling Ohman who has not played a competitive game for several weeks is not the wisest move and if Davis had to be dropped why was Pollock not given a recall? The lad has done nothing wrong when played and despite his youth probably should be first choice anyway if selected on performances.
Posted by: grimsby pete, October 19, 2019, 8:04pm; Reply: 44
Alan Buckley knew his best side and stuck to it unless an injury forced him to change the team,

He did alright don't you think ?

Jolley has changed the team every week apart from one I think and with tactics and personal changes during the games he has changed the side over 20 times so far this season.

No wonder the players have no idea what they are suppose to do.

You can not blame the players for these poor runs only one man is at fault but he calls the players instead of shouldering the mistakes in team formation and selection.

Having said that we could win 3-0 at Cambridge on Tuesday but it might be another heavy defeat,

We just don't know what to expect and that is no way to get promoted.
Posted by: MuddyWaters, October 19, 2019, 8:08pm; Reply: 45
If players are out of form (Hanson, Hendrie), leave them out. If players win, produce (Gibson, Ogbu, Pollock) don’t leave them out. If players have been injured (Ohman) don’t change things to accommodate them. Much, much too much thinking.

Too highly qualified for league 2.

The first thing your team needs is all out commitment and a will to win at all costs. Constant changes might be alright at Championship level but these players are in League 2 for no other reason than they are league 2 quality players. Not one of them could play higher, but they are good enough to give League 2 a good go.

He doesn't know his best side now as it has changed so much. I would personally be bold and make a managerial change now before another season drifts off into the wilderness.

I'm sorry but just because someone had taken a few courses, sat some exams it does not make him an expert, in fact to be a manager they have all taken most of the course/exams, but actually doing it for real and doing the theory are 2 different things. In fact if they all take the same courses then where do you get the innovation from. Sir Alex, Clough, Shankly, Paisley etc never took any courses and they seemed to do ok.

Totally.. a complete overreaction. I mean I worry there is some dressing room issue or something because it’s been such a sudden and terrible drop in form but it’s been literally 3-4 games of bad form and now it seems everyone wants the managers head. Unbelievable.

We’ve just lost three in a row to bottom half teams. Today was an abject capitulation. Our manager is changing winning line ups and overthinking. Our squad is better than that.

There were ten minutes in the second half where the introduction of Green and Ogbu shook things up and we looked like scoring.

If only we’d started like that. Straight from the off full tempo we’d have buried them.

But we didn’t. Concerned about the tinkering, the failure to sort midfield and the fact that the crowd have lost patience. The latter is almost always fatal.

Still think there’s a good team in there.  I hope he sorts it out.

Sorry, he just hasn’t progressed at all though. His loss % in league matches is still closer to Russell Slade II level than the level we should be expecting 19 months into his tenure. And these dips are constant and are almost in a cycle. A terrible run of defeats, followed by a better run of results and repeat.

The truth is he’s only won 25 of his 70 league matches in charge. That’s 35.7%. It’s simply not good enough. And he’s lost 30 league games (42.9%).

Where exactly is the improvement?

Sorry, he just hasn’t progressed at all though. His loss % in league matches is still closer to Russell Slade II level than the level we should be expecting 19 months into his tenure. And these dips are constant and are almost in a cycle. A terrible run of defeats, followed by a better run of results and repeat.

The truth is he’s only won 25 of his 70 league matches in charge. That’s 35.7%. It’s simply not good enough. And he’s lost 30 league games (42.9%).

Where exactly is the improvement?

This hits the nail in the head to me.... Slade tactics was lump it to the big man and hope for the best, so what's different with Jolleys approach now?...
We looked at the Exeter result and thought, "wow, we can play football" but I honestly think he fell upon that team more by luck by having to rest his "favourites" and as soon as they were fit to do 90 minutes he slips then straight back into the side and we go on a losing streak again....
And I completely agree with Golly, we haven't really progressed, if anything we've regressed.
The only thing in MJs defence is we appear, on paper, to have more quality in the squad than before he took over, but is this squad better than the one that won at Wembley in 2016?....I don't think so...

Stems from pre season. Looks good on paper but we have lacked a creative midfielder and wingers from the start. This definitely limits our options=it's there for all to see-why didn't he see it.

Might not have been able to get through door, and wingers seem pretty redundant nowadays as 4-4-2 suddenly deemed archaic (though very useful with less tactically astute lower league player's I'd say). Stop trying to be like the Premier League when don't have the requisite tools (I.e. players).

When was the last time we had proper wingers, or a proper winger? We've only got Max Wright as he's forced his way onto the scene due to his natural talent.

Finding a creative midfielder (with the right attitude) always going to be difficult at this level.

All that being said we should be doing better with what we have, in this moment at least.

Anyone else think Hanson, and Green, would do better as a front two in a 4-4-2? Hanson for example, would suddenly have someone to knock down to and we good have the classic big guy/little nippy guy combo.

Hanson out of form? - Ogbu can hold up also.

And Max would excel on wing.

The 4 4 2 thing was brought up by Lincoln and Mansfield fans when we signed Green saying that he’s better in a 2 than a 3. Surely our management can work this out too? It’s easy to overcrowd us in midfield and then it becomes easy for us to criticise them too. I always liked Craig Clay but yesterday we made him look like Iniesta.

Only slight issue is that we’ve probably only got Robson, Wright and maybe Hewitt who could play wide in a 4 man midfield. Our midfield is struggling because we are trying to shoehorn three forwards into a team that isn’t creating enough for them.

Id like to see ogbu and hanson up top in a 4-4-2. Unfortunately we only have 1 winger. Brilliant from mr Jolley

I guess that would be why he holds a UEFA Pro Licence, the highest-level managerial qualification in association football in Europe!

I know, and it's staggering. Did they teach him to whack the ball from anywhere to the big man with no support around him?

To obtain any top qualification you need to be fairly intelligent and able to remember what they tell you,

After you have got your piece of paper you can do what you like.

I was going to say a bit like learning to drive but if you do not follow the rules of the road you will quickly lose your licence .

Its not like that with Jolley's piece of paper he does not have to practice what he has learnt.

A couple of bad performances and we lose our heads on here! The problem as far as I can see is that a good start to the season has given us false expectations that we were going to challenging the automatic places.  Not that long ago people were seriously debating Lincoln poaching Jolley.

We're a mid table team at the moment and we're in mid table probably with a mid table budget.  A good run and we could sneak into the play offs which are only 3 points away. We're better than last year and last year was better than the year before. A bit more football would be nice and another winger would be handy.

Some interesting statistics for those still clinging to the belief that Jolley is taking us in the right direction and we are slowly improving...

Yesterday was Jolley's 70th league match as manager.

First 35 league matches...

W 14 - D 7 - L 14 - 49 pts - 1.40 pts/game

Second 35 league matches (games from 01/01/19 on wards)...

W 11 - D 7 - L 17 - 40 pts - 1.14 pts/game

He's taking us backwards. No one can argue with that.

The thing that worries me is we don’t even look close to winning a game, if we go one or two goals down we ma  go home.
This is a poor league this year apart from Crewe who looked good.

Rubbish, we’ve come back from behind loads of times this season. Yesterday at 2-0 down we had clear cut chances from Hanson and Whitehouse.

It's not a couple though is it? The last three games have been against very poor opposition and we've been various degrees of awful. We did really well at Exeter and did okay at home to Macc. We were poor against Salford, terrible against Oldham until the last 20 minutes and were well beaten by Crewe. That's one good performance in 8 games and 5/6 very poor performances.

You're right, three weeks ago Grimsby produced a fine performance resulting in a 1-3 win at the previously unbeaten league leaders.
Unfortunately every time the green shoots of recovery appear they are trampled upon by a series of bad performances and results.
Since his appointment Mr Jolley's sides have tended to go on runs of good results followed by runs of bad results. He needs to make the good runs longer and the bad ones shorter; I know "no sh.. Sherlock".
There is still no-one out there I think would be a better replacement. I still believe he can mount a challenge for the play-offs. So how many games? Unless the team go into free-fall as occurred in the early part of 2019 then I'd hope at least thirty-two in League Two.

After a year and two bits of Jolley surely the side ought to be showing at least some sort of shape and cohesion. It isn’t simply that some players are off form and we are arguing about who should play left wing or right back - we don’t even know if the next Jolley shake up side will have. LW or RB. And if it does the chances are it could be a natural right sided defender on the LW and a left footer at RB!

It makes you wonder what the players must think of all this, they turn up on a match day having trained in the dark apart from being scared to death by a laptop presentation of their mighty opponents like Leyton. Then they see the team sheet and they get told what to do. No wonder we are rubbish for the first quarter or half and can’t mark people from corners and free kicks, the poor bu99ers are still trying to work out this week’s formation.

I used to know a person who had a BA, MA and 2 PHD's in History who was a failed Uni lecturer because although he had a vast knowledge of history he was unable to pass it on to others.

I think I now know of a highly qualified UEFA coach who although he has a great understanding of the game is unable to pass this on to his players.

Knowledge is not everything, how to use that knowledge is the important thing.

Far too quick to be making a judgement, up until 3 weeks ago, we had on the whole been playing reasonably. The Port Vale, and Exeter games showed how well we can play at times. However, of concern is the amount of goals we seem to be conceding, chopping and changing is also a concern, Clifton and Hewitt shouldn't of started yesterday, and why has Pollock been dropped?. Upfront Hanson needs decent service and support alongside, and Rose is better as an impact player. Vernam and Cardwell need to go out on loan, as they both need game time and their confidence restoring. Anyway as bad as it was yesterday it's unlikely that we're going to be facing a relegation battle, so Jolley's position should only be considered nearer the end of the season...UTM

Pure conjecture, without knowing( by being there,) you are just regurgitating a rumour....nobody has come out the press room to confirm his outburst, but I will say this....MJ is getting rattled, he's certainly feeling the pressure and frustration which can be borne out by him having a few curt words with a supporter and also his post match interview with JT....wish Burnsy could interview MJ, he pinned Grant Mcann to the wall yesterday

Nobody is going to come out and say anything, they would just be throwing away any access they have to the club. But it is right that he is rattled, you can tell a change in his voice in the JT interview even though JT is a very gentle questioner. For weeks he has just parroted the same old cliches and he does not appear to like being held accountable for his team’s performances.

I don't care for Burnsy's style but there is no doubt that there is a clear difference between Scunny and Hull post match interviews and the tepid JT non events. Jolley should listen to the more direct and persistent interviews some other managers face. He has been fortunate in the press room so far.  The final interview of Graham Alexander at Scunny before his sacking was grossly insensitive.

We played more games in August and September than anyone else and I think the season has caught up with us to some degree. Some players probably should have been rested more than they have and that Chelsea game must have been energy-sapping for those involved. I still feel that the strength of the team picked for the Sunderland game was a mistake. Unfortunately, there is no letting up with the relentless fixture list.

Not really read anyones responses to this post other than the first page and yet had to give this response. Ok some want Jolley to go now. We are 14th in the league 3 points off the play offs. Lets put a job vacancy up for Russ Wilcox and John Mcderrmot to apply for AGAIN!!!
Christ weve been here before, we are NOT an attractive propersition for a  manager looking to enhance his career. Geographically we are isolated, imo we are at our level as far as financially and how the club is run, plsyers do not want to move here and we are not favourites to win the league. On paper we have a better squad than last year so we are progressing.
2 weeks ago we were in the play offs and fans were getting carried away. This week all doom and gloom!!
Now is not the time for kneejerk reactions. Back the manager that had us up there a fortnight ago and look at the orient game in isolation.
Jolley will turn this around i am sure but patience is needed and backing from town supporters

Do you know what, i don't think it matters what tactics he plays at the moment as i think our midfield is absolutely utter garbage.
Hess is a decent but average run of the mill mid.
Whitehouse was the one player everyone had there hopes pinned on and has turned out to be a big time flop.
Robson - still a kid and not ours, hit and miss.(where was he saturday?)
Max - still a kid but probably the best potential
Jordan Cook - not a mid but gets lumped there.
Vernum - Again not a mid and really not sure where he would play.
Hewitt - should never ever play in the mid again. terrible. right back tho has been ok.

So looking at that we are really really shite in midfield. i fully expect some new personnel in that area come january.

I wish we could look at Orient in isolation but that would be hiding from the facts.
Oldham - awful up until the last 10 minutes and we nicked an equaliser.
Mansfield - no excuse for losing to 10 men, we were devoid of ideas, again woeful.
Sunderland - yes, tinpot, but he put out a strong team an we last to their second string.
Stevenage - bottoms feeders without a win and we couldn't hit a cows backside with a banjo, terrible again.
Leighton Orient - There for all to see, wrong straying line up, players out of position, players on the bench that should have started...once again....bloody awful...
This is without recounting the games we managed to draw early on, so no, you cannot look at 1 game in isolation, we've been behind in far too many games already and too many times he's got the selection and tactics wrong...
There was a wave of optimism flowing through this club when MJ first came, we all thought we had the new Eddie Howe on our hands but I'm starting see more Marcus Bignott with his cluelessness at times.
Only so much more dire we can take but if we now go on an unbeaten run, playing good, entertaining football I will do as Bart Simpson once said and "eat my shorts"..

I'm not so quick to jump on the sudden 'Jolley out' movement (although agree with concerns), feel it may be a bit rash as we known to be a streaky team -there a good chance we'll all of a sudden be back on a winning streak after probably a couple more bad results.

Then no doubt there will be posts about playoff aspirations, getting Jolley tied down etc etc as so it always goes.

Don't get too up when you up and too down when you're down is my mantra.

We started better than expected now doing worse than expected so together we about where we expected. And probably where we should be budget wise. It's the fare on show and the apparent lack of a cohesive plan andcplayers looking like they not gelled (un-gelled?) from chopping and changing that the immediate concern.

But the reason I posted is over this idea we an unfashionable club, who we going to get etc etc. Now I'm flying in the face of the group of supporters who prefer a steady ship and not jumping to rash decisions, of which I'm more often than not part, but I just don't get this point.

There's always loads of experienced managers out of work and loads of young coach's or retiring players who'd love to make the leap and a lot would take pretty much any opportunity at any Football League Club. We not that unfashionable or out in the sticks and our support especially away from home has not hone unnoticed by anyone in the game who's witnessed us arrive in town.

Sol Campbell took an opportunity at a sinking ship at a minnow club, in comparison we much bigger and stable. On that point he's available and worked wonders, I was previously of the opinion he'd be a disaster.

But not meaning to put names out there as that incinuates Im itchy on the trigger which not the case just yet. Jolley needs to get back to basics and work out his best side and settle with it making only minor tweaks here and there. Long straight punts to Hanson who alone in the centre is simply retarded. I've heard Hanson get stick but it's not his fault if no one around him.

Have a game plan and a backup plan or two and drill them to death so everyone knows what they're doing and where they need to be. Work on partnerships, be it two strikers or LB and LW how they interchange. Keep it stupid simple, old school style, like the great man AB did.

Whether you like Jolley or not, it is ridiculous to suggest that the only calibre of applicants we would attract to a potential vacancy would be the likes of Russ Wilcox or John McDermott. We clearly wouldn't. Last time round we had an application from Sol Campbell (who did an excellent job at Macclesfield under very difficult circumstances) and Gary Holt who has and continues to do a great job at Livingston. And those are just the applicants who we know were interviewed for the job through national media stories/interviews. In fact we know Gary Holt was offered the job and Fenty changed his mind.

Totally.. a complete overreaction. I mean I worry there is some dressing room issue or something because it’s been such a sudden and terrible drop in form but it’s been literally 3-4 games of bad form and now it seems everyone wants the managers head. Unbelievable.

It's astoundingly short sighted, even for our very own boo boy patrol. I thought the ethos of our support as a collective was slowly being changed to be a tad more reasonable and patient, but this thread makes for depressing reading. There is too much idiocy to quote all of them, so thanks for exceeding yourselves fellas. If I could be arsed, I'd search through old posts and find out if anyone calling for his head was proclaiming him the messiah about a month or so ago. Obviously, I don't think everything is perfect but to suggest we haven't moved forward since Jolley came in is mind bogglingly ridiculous.

Let's debunk this myth about the last three "easy" games too. Mansfield have got one of, if not, the biggest budget in the division and arguably the best starting lineup. They will kick on and they will probably at the very least still get a playoff spot if they sack Dempster with enough time. Stevenage may be bottom too, but they've been absolutely hampered by injuries all season. This is a side that got fairly close to the playoffs last season and will, like Mansfield, more than likely start to rise up the table over the next few months. Also, going to a side that hasn't won in ten or so matches is more often than not, not as easy as it seems. I'm not too familiar with the current Orient side other than the ex-Mariners, but there seems to be a lot of disrespect for them. Perhaps one of the experts could enlighten us? They've just taken 10 points from the last 12 which isn't too shabby at all.

You see in all that you say is where the problem lies...to busy looking at the opposition rather than concentrating on our own .
We have no "style" of play, it's altered to suit the opposition which he's got wrong...
Where's the "high press, high tempo" game he talked about??... disappeared into thin air!!...
It's about time he put the right players in their strongest positions, forgot about not losing to the opponent's, create a style
of play that our players can relate and work to and stop chopping and changing.
Get continuity with the starting 11 and build from there ..if you look at the start of the season he didn't change personnel for every game and low and behold we did okay if not pretty well...
Don't necessarily think people are calling for his head, it's more about we want him to stop messing about, learn from his mistakes and actually admit when he gets it wrong and don't blame players who are played in a position and style that's alien to them... these lads are footballers not Philadelphia lawers' for god's sake..

It's astoundingly short sighted, even for our very own boo boy patrol. I thought the ethos of our support as a collective was slowly being changed to be a tad more reasonable and patient, but this thread makes for depressing reading.

To be fair, most of those that are being heavily critical have been so of Jolley for a while.

There are ones (like myself), that have so far been satisfied with Jolley as he has talked a good game and did seem to get it, regards taking us forward. But I am getting more frustrated with the style of play being crap.

Jolley always said he wanted us to play fast, attractive football. Well his teams have consistently failed to produce this over his tenure. I know he is a young manager and learning etc. unfortunately he seems a very slow learner.

Two things that really urine me off about him though are his aversion to natural wide players and sticking everyone back at set pieces.

Regards wingers last season we had the 3 - 5 - 2 bullshit and this season we only have Max Wright, despite Jolley abandoning 3 - 5 - 2 and signing Hanson.

According to some on here you are not supposed to criticise or show your disappointment

I  have said in the past MJ will make a top manager one day but he will not if he does not learn by his mistakes.

He has made a few of them lately so let's hope he gets his selection and tactics right soon and then sticks to them.

Not saying this is what is happening on this thread but it always makes me chuckle how football fans sometimes sound like they're accusing a manager of murdering their mother after their team puts in a poor performance.  The level of personal insults thrown around under the guise of 'passionate opinion' continues to astound.

People are obviously upset at the way a promising start has been undone with several poor, very poor or downright average performances of late.  But we're 14th, still well in touch of the play-offs: about where GTFC is if we're honest.

The only game in town for us is to present ourselves as a relatively stable outfit where people will have space to develop.  We can't keep cycling through managers, throwing money at each one until we urine the lower leagues back to our 'rightful' place in the Championship.  Success will come with time I think, the present management team have at least turned the playing department into a reasonably professional outfit once again and have done nothing so far to warrant the axe.

I've probably just done a PP and guaranteed a slapping tomorrow, we'll see.  ;D
