Hope they can help us ‘connect’ with some more sponsorship at the end of the year long deal. I know they’re doing a a national campaign based on GY but this is still a very big name to bring in for sponsorship and seems a good initiative.

Linkedin Sponsors Grimsby Town F.C. To Help Community Score Jobs
New sponsorship will deliver support, advice and free match tickets to jobseekers in the Grimsby community

London, 16th September 2019: LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, today announces its sponsorship of Grimsby Town Football Club, marking its first foray into football sponsorship. The initiative has been launched in the North East Lincolnshire coastal town of Grimsby with a goal of helping local jobseekers to find work.

The activity launches this weekend with the opening of the ‘LinkedIn Lounge’ – a permanent match day fixture throughout the season, where match goers will be able to see current vacancies in the area, along with details of how to apply.

The team’s upcoming home game against Macclesfield Town on Saturday 21st September will also see the first of regular ‘jobs takeovers’ where live job roles will also be served to match-goers in match day programmes, at food vendors and even in the ladies and gents toilets.

The ground will also be home to the brand’s temporary pop-up pub ‘The Linked Inn’ – where fans and Grimsby residents alike can score themselves a job with an after-work drink. Guests will be able to meet with recruiting businesses in the area, as well as LinkedIn career experts who will be on hand to advise on everything from setting up a LinkedIn profile to growing their professional community. Free tickets to home-game fixtures across the season will also be made available to The Linked Inn attendees.

The Linked Inn will be held between 5pm – 8pm on Tuesday 24th September.  Attendees can speak to companies such as other club sponsors, DFDS and Associated British Ports, as well as Docks Beers, Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust, and DeeBee Wholesale about the jobs they have on offer.

The activity is part of a one-year agreement with the club and is the culmination of a wider initiative from LinkedIn, which has seen the platform work with Grimsby residents to demonstrate how LinkedIn can connect people to the right job opportunities.

Grimsby Town FC manager, Michael Jolley comments: “The club has always supported the local community and vice versa. With LinkedIn’s sponsorship we can use the club ground as a platform to highlight the job opportunities available in the area.”

Darain Faraz, Head of Brand, LinkedIn says: “We believe that when people come together, we create opportunity and change lives for the better. There are few sports which unite a community quite like football, especially in Grimsby where the club is the heart of the town. We hope this sponsorship demonstrates the power of community in securing job opportunities.”

Today, LinkedIn has amassed more than 20 million job listings. Over the last year, four million people have secured a job through LinkedIn - that’s one person getting hired every eight seconds.

This is brilliant... I did wonder why, when watching something on YouTube this week, an LinkedIn advert featuring Grimsby came on I assumed they were doing them for different towns and cities.

To be partnered with a brand that is known worldwide is amazing for the club and the Town and if we can help create more employment opportunities then all the better. Some telly great ideas already with the pop up bar, free tickets, vacancies in match day programme etc. Can only see this being successful.

Is there a Shutes link here somewhere? Just seems odd that out of every possible football club, they've chosen Grimsby Town to partner with.

Onwards and upwards 😀 #UTM

Initially they were going to try this at Anfield.

Then they realised attendances would drop by 75% 😉

I suppose anything a bonus but I’d love to know how much it’s worth to the club ?
Maybe it’s just for the PR

Perhaps they'll incorporate a Job Centre (or whatever the dole office is called these days) as one of the amenities in the new stadium,

Great video n chuffed to bits with this initiative. Not that it really matters, as it's such a worthwhile venture, but is it worth any money to the club?
Has to be worth it for the good publicity that's been generated, it even made the business pages of the ' i'  today.
One final thought could those of you on LinkedIn please place a favourable comment on the initiztive, will be seen by your contacts and hopefully shared, so spreading the good word?
