They give a good allocation and normally get a good turn out even playing lower level clubs all in all great draw if we progress

Cracking draw! Just got to beat Macc, let's pack the park and help the boys there!

Hanson played in the 2-4 Bradford victory at Stamford Bridge hopefully we can repeat it!

Bradford were 2-0 down when they won 4-2.   As were Town at Stamford Bridge when we won 3-2  in the Championship.

Amazing draw. Surely the lads will be mad for that game so will play their backsides off on the replay!

One of Salah's few games for Chelsea too.

Will more than likely be played Wednesday 25th Sep as Chelsea at home to Liverpool the Sunday before

Beaten chelsea away but never beaten Macc at home..sad statistic but that's why your best bet would be  getting on macc double chance.

We have a decent record against Chelsea we can do this. Come on town !!!!    Just got to beat the Macs first.

Yep. Spurs at home on the Saturday so their game at Colchester is likely to be the TV game on the Tuesday. That would then likely be a toss-up between the Town / Macc vs Chelsea game and the Man Yoo v Rochdale tie. I reckon the local aspect of the latter would probably pip it to be honest; I could see Dale taking 10,000+ there if given the allocation.

That said, mid-week or not 5,000+ Town at Chelsea wouldn’t surprise me.

Wouldn't be surprised if Preston Man City's above us/Macc in the pecking order too

TV?

Not a chance. Any 2 or 3 of City at PNE, MK v Liverpool, Colchester v Spurs and Pompey v Southampton

Excellent draw! IF we beat Macc. Be great to play Chelsea again - hope we do better than last time, 20-odd years ago.

Living round here, it'll be particularly sweet if we pull off a result at Stamford Bridge.

I might have dreamt this but after we sold out our allocation in the side stand we asked for more tickets in what was then an open end but Chelsea wanted Town to buy the whole stand as they didn't really want to open it. I know we sold a fair few but not the whole stand.(Confused)

Hope we win the re-arranged fixture as James Hanson had a good day there when Bradford won 4-2 in the FA Cup.
Long way on a wednesday night but should be a big pay day. If we lose to Macclesfield, bet Chelsea give them the gate receipts given their plight, after what happened with Bury.  Lets bombard Chelsea suggesting they do it for that match anyway.
Then if we get through - happy days!

We took around 4k to that game with some Town housed behind the goal in The Shed whilst it was being redeveloped think the crowd was 28k

Wow last time I see us at Stamford Bridge we beat them 3-2 in the same division.. Harrods close by got bombed by the IRA  :'( :B :B :B you could see the smoke behind the shed it was a cold rainy December day.

Only a small number of us were there but we were told to quickly make our way back to the coach parked behind the old chelsea shed (gulp)

The one and ONLY good thing about the bombing was it took attention off us as some knobsacks were theatenig to do us.

Luckily most Chelsea fans vacated the stands despite the anouncement being made to stay in the ground due to Christmas shoppers
Harrods was packed.

Got to beat Macclesfield first though.

Both teams, not just town. Should make the replay a) a cracker or b) rubbish, both terrified of losing. Lets hope for a cracker

*14 years 😆

I'm not particularly confident because of this record either. Ridiculous really - drawing 1-1 with them in 2006 has absolutely no bearing on a League Cup game in 2019!

Sheffield Wednesday received a touch shy of 6k for their FA Cup tie in January, which looks to be the Shed End in its entirety (accounting for segregation). May be a big ask for a mid-week game in London but would be great if we could sell that out (assuming, of course, we get there).

Sadly it might have an effect on the Macclesfield players too, in fact an away game at Chelsea might ensure they get paid next month!

I may be wrong but think away fans are now at the opposite end of the ground to the old shed end?

I was there when we beat Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in 1983.  Somehow we ended up surrounded by Chelsea fans who were quite patronising at first (I think they went 2-0 up) then the mood gradually changed as we came back into the game and it was positively hostile at the end - which of course made the experience all the more enjoyable.  I think Paul Emson scored the winner?

I've been to Stamford Bridge recently and without doubt it's the most unpleasant atmosphere at any of the 50+ grounds I've been too.  I recall a linesman getting abuse because he gave a 50/50 throw-in against Chelsea in the first 5'.

There's now a good case to play our best XL v Macclesfield.  Also looks like Matt Proctor may play in this game, talk about it being a shop window ...

You have no understanding of our ways support , I’d be surprised to see less than 5000 town fans there for a midweek game

To see Town vs Chelsea's reserves though?

If it is chosen for TV cannot see 5k myself. Would be magnificent but unlikely. Did we even take 5k to Arsenal in 2001?

Pretty sure they would not be allowed to give them the gate receipts as it would be against the rules and potentially give them an unfair advantage against others teams.

Chelsea did this for somebody else a few years back. Can't remember who it was, but it gave me more respect for Abramovic.

We were crippled with injuries too to make a real fist of it. Shame.

I remember being surprised at how pokey and cramped in the old ground was, my knees killed pressed against the seats in front.

No problem.. Yeah, I was there too. We were housed in the Clock End. It used to be split with a cage fence part way across if I remember correctly - but we had all that end.. Only the odd seat unsold.

Yes... some Arsenal reserve team, that! 🙄

I seem to remember that 90% of their starting line-up were all full internationals. They scored an early goal and we never really got going.

Almost certain that was the game I went to, quite a sureal feeling elated that we had beeten Chelski on their own patch, sad about the IRA bombing and frightened that I might get a good kick in after the game as we walked past the shed to get our coach.

Luckily we had a police escort only one copper mind as some lunatic tried t mow us down on the kings road.

Stamford bridge was very intimidating back then remember it looking a bit run down as well.

A very tatty muriel of a ole player adorned one of the side of a high rise building next to the shed don't know why I remember that lol.

Just dreamt we was drawing 0-0 with Maccs.. Ref added on 11mins extra time and we scored a free kick in stoppage time. Watch this space...
