McKeown (c), Hendrie, Waterfall, Davis, Hewitt, Clifton, Hessenthaler, Whitehouse, Ogbu, Hanson, Green.

Subs: Russell, Gibson, Cook, Wright, Vernam, Ring, Pollock.

Good team, good bench. Gotta be happy with that

Have to say after Tuesday night I think Cook is unlucky to be on the bench ..
Thus may be contentious and get a load of red xs but surprised he's not taken Clifton's slot...love Clifton but I think Cook offers more coming from midfield as an attacking midfielder.

Looks a great choice, and wise to rest Ludvig as a precaution, gonna need him back though, I feel we are looking at a promotional team here, lets hope they bring 3 points back tonight, never been so excited for many a season, UTM.

gain some attacking momentum but lose some defensive solidity...he did impress me as well on Tuesday though so the starting 3 know there are players waiting to step up which can only be good for us.

We've clearly nullified how they play haven't we. We keep forcing them to lump the ball forward or pass it round aimlessly at the back. We've not been as good going forward today as we have the last two league games but I'm putting that down to Village Green ls dedensive efforts as they've been closing us down quickly.

The refs getting annoying, hes blowing every time an VGR player throws themselves on the floor. Not a good start to 2nd half for us. We're starting to sit too deep when defending and not really pushing up when we're attacking

According to Dave Smith though, they weren't doing much with their possession

Not sure if you can attribute that to their goal ... sounded as if they just got the run of the ball near to goal and their man put it away

I'm not. I think at the end of the season they will be mid-table. I didnt see much of a threat from them, their goal was quite un representative of the game. I think we made a mistake in allowing them so much possession, it was a bit arrogant in as much as we seemed to be waiting for the counter. But I think we will sort that out, they were nothing special, really. We will take them at BP

We played ok but can’t help but feel it was the ‘same old town’ we were better than them but they took their one and only chance. We will bounce back though, I’m sure.

Disappointing that, worked very hard and had a couple of ok chances, but we couldn’t muster a charge after they scored.

They are very much a possession side and did a lot more with it second half. We are so direct and when that didn’t work we didn’t really have another option.
I think we will grind a lot of results out playing like that even if it will cause a lot of sore necks.

Pollock shouldn't have been dropped for a player we signed 48 hours ago who was subsequently directly responsible for FGR's winner. Poor management.

What is disappointed is our failure to adjust to their change of tactics in the 2nd half. Jolley got it spot on in the first half which is a shame. Apart from that its no too disheartening. Village Green are one of the better sides and it was just one of those days in front of goal.

Pollock has not started a game of league football. He is 17 years old. You dont sign a player from a higher division and not play him. Pollock is young and has much to learn. Typical town fan in that there is this bias towards town youth. It was the right call to play Luke Waterfall.

Well I didn't red tick you but I feel that Pollack is still " work in progress " and Waterfall is more experienced and would be a better option in defence

Pollock has just kept a clean sheet against a league one side earlier this week, had a very impressive preseason and impressed last season when unexpectedly thrown on to defend a single goal lead with 10 men against Exeter. If you ignore his age, which imo is utterly irrelevant, his performances do not warrant being dropped in favour of an unproven new signing who has had no time to settle in and was ultimately directly responsible for forest green's winner today.

I must of tuned in when they was sorting out Smudgers microphones cos the lead guy was hardly saying anything at all - hence my this shocking commentary post - but it all got better once the technical issues were sorted out

Listened to the game while out on a walk - yeh must admit it did have that same old town feel to it especially going behind after being on top - but on any other day we could of scored a couple at least - the big lad Hanson with the best of the chances - one he stretched for and another he headed just wide from Charlie’s cross - so at least we are creating just a bit disappointing we didn’t get something from a game we perhaps didn’t deserve to lose

Daft statement..he wasn't at fault for their goal, he happened to clear with a decent header that unfortunately landed at their players feet...
The bloke won promotion with Lincoln and was a mainstay with the shrews, even his manager their said he was integral part of the squad...

Wrong tactics for Matt Green. His work rate is  more relevant to harassing defenders in their half not in ours. He was unable to link in with our midfield when we had possession and won few free kicks, throws or corners.
Cook or Vernam  should have been on earlier and Wright for Clifton would have caused more problems when we broke.
The number of dubious free kicks also disrupted our game. Mystifying decisions sometimes.
Neither team deserved 3 points.

You’d have an argument if we’d lost 2 or 3 nil but they didn’t look scoring all day - and neither did we.

A dire game between 2 pretty poor teams.

Our only game plan is to hoof the ball / long throw towards Hanson and hope he scores or we pick up the pieces, it’s percentage football at its worst.

Need some creativity in midfield, and stop playing our best right back at left back so that we can shoehorn in a player to play right back purely because he has a long throw (which ultimately came to nothing)
Posted by: Madeleymariner, August 17, 2019, 9:32pm; Reply: 72
I groaned when he brought Cook on and said ooh thats good we can watch him run around for 20 mins he had his good game of the seaon on Tuesday like when he scored 2 goals in a game last season, think he touched the ball once in the last minute, Any tiny amount of creativity left the pitch when Ogbu was subbed, We then brought on Vernam who had no time to affect the game with his long raking runs from one side of the pitch to the other (we were crap last season because we had these players not being fit or scoring goals) and a left back on so the right back could into midfield and finally the age old stick the centre half up top and lump it to him routine.. I thought we were poor 2nd half as FGR had sussed us and we had no idea how to change the way we were playing.
The other worry is how many times did the ball drop in the area today and Sturday but hardly ever lands at our feet but it took just one dodgy half clearance and FGR scored,
Lets hope we bounce back on Tuesday.  :-/
