I haven`t looked forward to a home League game this much for a long time and it should just about be a sell out I think our Yorkie friends have flogged all 1800 tickets already so it will be some atmosphere . I remember many years ago around the same time of the Season playing Bradford at home and an on loan Neil Woods scored much to there annoyance after we had thrashed PNE away the previous week . A win next week courtesy of Hanson and maybe we can take it as a good omen and indulge in some nostalgia . UTM

I remember that game , it finished 1-1 .
I also remember the away game being 2-0 putting us top of the league , also with a big following of Town fans

Always been good visitors numbers wise the bantams I know they do cheap Season tickets but even so 14k at home versus Cambridge is quite something so 1800 to here a walk in the park for them. You home for this one ?

Should be a near enough sell out.. Its early in the season but its a massive game. There will be a few 100 people there Saturday who arent overly fused about going down to BP but if we put on a good show it may well drag a lot of them back for the next home game and the next and the next etc etc..

What a team we were.  Although I went to nearly all the home games during Buckley's years, I never really appreciated how good our one touch passing was until you see it back.  When your at the game you remember key incidents, but probably not the neat passing and one two's that was on display.

Yeah they get great home crowds but I bet our away following won’t be much difference to theirs by the end of the season .

I’ll be away for this one , not sure when I’m home next but would like to make it for the Scunny game

Bradford drew at home yesterday with a Cambridge team that were down to ten men for the last half hour.

We have nothing to fear ( I hope  :) )

Bradford have three talented attackers in Donaldson, Vaughn and Scannell. If they are fit and play they will be a threat and have all played at a higher level.

Let's hope they have an off day and our good start continues.

I hope I’m wrong but I doubt it’ll be a sellout, I would guess about 7.5k.

was that at The Odsall(?) Stadium ? doesnt look like Valley Parade. Post edit ...i have since remembered (fool) i was at the game and it was Valley Parade before redevelopment.

I loved the obvious Tony Rees / Gary Childs one two with a back heel on the seond goal .....although possibly not seen or remembered as being as succesful as the 98 version, the football that that team produced was far better IMO.
Glorious times.

Inclined to agree with that Moosey. That team was an absolute joy to watch.

No, it was Valley Parade. I took a Bradford fan (work colleague) in our end which he did not enjoy too much

We'd had a bit of a stuttering run up to that game so it was particularly joyous to get us back on track, we were still in a promotion place but we hadn't won away for a while IIRC.

Looking forward to this one

Travel arrangements and tickets purchased weeks ago - should be a cracker.

Against Cambridge we saw a lot of the ball, almost 70% possession - we didn’t do too much with it, mind. We went with 433, playing Donaldson, Vaughan and Doyle (DVD) up top. They haven’t played many minutes together as a unit and it was telling on Saturday. I didn’t agree with not starting Scannell, and I don’t think Gary Bowyer will make the same mistake next week.

Jermaine Anderson went off with a slight knock, so he might not feature. Up steps Hope Akpan if that’s the case.

I think we’ll switch to a simple 442 for this one.

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Kelvin Mellor
CB: Anthony O’Connor
CB: Ben Richards-Everton
LB: Jackson Longridge/Adam Henley

RW: Sean Scannell
CM: Matty Palmer
CM: Hope Akpan
LW: Jordan Gibson/Zeli Ishmael

ST: James Vaughan
ST: Clayton Donaldson

It’ll be a close affair, but I think we’ll edge it.

Tried to call the club shop a couple of times this morning but had no luck.

Is the promotional free ticket for ST holders available for the Bradford game? I know previously it has excluded first game of the season/more in demand fixtures but it only appears to be bank holiday games this year.

Cheers in advance.

Is that the Richard O'Donnell we had on loan when we first dropped into non-league?

Only played a handful of games for us but I remember him doing well.

That would be a brave choice for me against our midfield. None of them are especially technically gifted but I doubt you will see a more committed/hard working midfield three. Scannell worries me though, remember him coming on for Huddersfield in the 2014 FA Cup match and tearing us to apart later in the game. Assume he still has that pace.

As you will not be surprised to hear we will lump it up to Hanson a lot, are your Centre backs L2 cloggers? If so that will help you out greatly. Morecambe's defence just could not cope with him in the air. We never really gave him a headed chance all game though.

There’s some real quality in that line-up and it’s easy to see why you’re tipped for promotion. There must be a few hundred Championship-level games in that front six alone, and none of them with the possible exception of Donaldson are ancient.

It’s early days and it’s hard to know our place in the division at this stage, but we’ll have to be on top of our game to come away with anything from this one.

Just been looking at the recent history of games between the 2 teams and it's not good reading.

The last time we beat Bradford was in 1998 in Division One (Championship). Since then there have been 12 games between the 2 clubs resulting in 9 Bradford wins and 3 draws.

About bloody time we put a stop to that sequence on Saturday.

The BetVictor Blog says this about Bradford that is worth mentioning:

"They remain short in certain areas and possess 16 players who were part of last season’s squad; of those, winger Sean Scannell is the only player who one would expect to outclass League Two and there are no guarantees he can stay fit."

Hope for us then?

We’re short of a good, combatting midfielder.

Jake Reeves would be perfect, but he’s been out injured for a while.

We’re short of a good left-winger.

Zeli Ismael would be a good option to have, but he’s not fit. Tyrel Robinson would be too good for this league, but he’s suspended.

We’re not a million miles away, but the team do need time to gel. Playing us so earlier on in the season is probably the best time to play us, to be honest.

Always enjoy your honest posts queeny.. I respect Bradford justt for the simple ticket scheme they've done over the more recent years, taken a risk and I assume its paid off.. After this weekend i wish you guys all the best.
