Only a min long unfortunately, hopefully the highlights on ifollow or YouTube will be longer.  I thought Green was unlucky....and the ball that fizzed across the goal with Rose lurking....on another day Rose might have bagged one.

Really? Based upon what? Who says?

Find that hard to believe when they’ll have a system with plenty of decent talent to pick from.

Seriously, 6 minutes left to play why the hell would you allow your keeper to go forward into the box and leave 2 players back? You'd leave a keeper and defender back.. If its the last minute of the game you'd have everyone around the opponents box. Very besare decision

I'm still baffled by the first goal not being offside? Squared to Whitehouse five yards out and no Morecambe outfield players anywhere near

Whitehouse was behind the ball. It's more the 4 players being unmarked about 6 yards out that baffles me. Shame you can't see whether the linesman got it right or not, but that's a risky move to play the offside trap when there's so many in the box.

I agree it looked an ok goal from the laws of the game point of view the only note of caution I expect Morecambe to be one of the two sides to be relegated and judging by there defending for both goals it`s a good call.Still a clean sheet 3 points and a good start to the new Season we have to take that.

If you watch it closely you’ll see that Öhman came into the box late and he Wasn’t caught out by the offside trap. I was behind the linesman, at the time I thought it was offside but it was a brave decision by him not to give it as usually in those situations they will give benefit of the doubt to the defending team

Doesn't the ball have to be played forward for a player to be off-side?

Correct. As the poster pointed out "the ball was squared" It doesn't matter how many players were in an offside position if the ball wasn't played forward it's not offside.

Nice composure by Wright for his goal (and good play by Whitehouse telling him to shoot rather than pass to an offside him!)

I don't know much about the Morecambe side and it's still early doors, I'd like to see us passing more, I felt that when we got the ball to feet we were more of an attcking side that had Morecambe on the back foot, rather than lumping it up to Hanson,

That was definitely a penalty with that foul on Rose, I'd like to see his pace utilized more, I'd like him to be bit more braver going forward.

Great turn out by Town fans, you could hear them all the way through the game, well done to those who made the journey.

Over 1k to Morecambe suggests some really large away followings on the cards for us this Season if we can stay up the top end.

You can’t be offside from a square ball, it has to go forward. That’s basic.

Whether Öhman was offside initially is a different matter, but it’s impossible to tell from the camera angle.

What struck me as odd was that it was roughly our tenth free kick from that kind of position and it was the first time they’d tried the offside trap. Presumably it was a plan improvised at half time rather than something they’d worked on the training ground, which may account for its calamitous deployment.

I’ve never liked the offside trap as a tactic as it relies not only on you doing your job right, but also the lino (not accounting for VAR). If anyone of 5 or 6 people gets it ever so slightly wrong, you’re fúcked, As was the case yesterday.

Never mind. Our gain.

Cracking turnout yesterday. Six weeks until Oldham and Salford. Hopefully the Whaley Bridge situation will be fixed by then

I have to go there 13th August I hoping it gets rescheduled as the customer will not be able to get into his premises until Monday.  The whole area has been evacuated.

Morecambe manager on local radio said he thought ohman had timed his run well and it was probably the right decision I.e. onside, fair play to him.
I hope Morecambe stay up but I agree with those saying they look candidates for the drop and a couple of their players look too overweight to be pro footballers, and we didn't exactly tear them apart. Still 3 points is 3 points. Great turn out and atmosphere from town fans again

I don’t think we should under estimate our role in their demise.
Resorting to the off-side trap was a direct result of the pressure we were putting them under.
As you say that was maybe the 10th similar free kick and our aerial superiority was making it more and more likely that we would score from one of them.
It was nice to see us creating doubt in their defence leading eventually to panic - another example was when their keeper was put under pressure by Rose I think, and the ball came back across an empty goal. Could easily have gone to Green, and would have been another bizarre goal - luck created by pressure.
Over the last few seasons it’s usually been us crumbling inevitably as the opponent turns the screw.
Not the finished product by any means, and still lacking quality in execution, but overall much more power and pace together with attacking intent than last season.
Big test now against probably a much better team.

It was Wright AussieMariner, you can see Hanson pointing to the keeper and probably telling Wright to close him down, which made the ball fizz across the box with Rose just not getting there first.  Still always nice to start the season with a win, but now we must build on it, take the game to Bradford.  This season i like to see a bit more consistency.

Just a comment on highlights - did anyone actually see Quest EFL last night? Last one on and if you blinked you would miss Town. A bit of flannel about Whitehouse. No credit at all to Wright, no discussion of the "offside". Colin Murray is (almost) as boring to listen to as Hurst. :-/

Can we just end the season now please   ;D

yeah watched it all.  What annoys me though is I like to watch the scorers etc on either BBC Sport Focus or BT Sports, but when the Premier League don't play its never on.  It really is a Premier League world lol.

The extended highlights on iFollow (10 mins) are pretty good and shows on another day my 3-1 prediction would have been correct hahahaha
