Says in the Telewag that he looking to get back into football.
He's 31 now. But would it not be worth town bringing him in for pre-season training with a view to a 1 yr deal. If he hasnt lost his pace i reckon he can still do a job at this level.

Thoughts?

No. Not for me thank you. 31 hasn't played in I don't know how long. Wouldn't fit the bill at all in L2.

Good luck to him, but he's probably not up to League 2 right now. But then he has the basic talent so who knows.

Big question marks throughout his career if he could step up from Conference to Football League and he did little to ever disprove any doubts.

However, he would have improved our attack last season.

He was absolutely terrible for Boston!

I spoke to him at the last home game and he said he'd been offered a player/assistant manager role but didn't say who with...
Think he's a player best left in the past and in the memory for "that" goal that lead to John Tonders finest moment whilst commentating on a town game..
Good luck in whatever he does and he'd wished all the best...shame he he ever signed for Lincoln, will always stick in my throat that one I'm afraid

No issue with him coming back to train - other ex-players have done this e.g. Danny North. Nostalgia's not a good enough reason to offer him a contract though.

I always thought he was a bit in and out when he played for us, on his day he was great on others hardly new he was on the pitch.

Let's remember him for some of the great goals he scored for us such as at Eastleigh in the play-off semi-final and of course that goal at Wembley.

There will always be a special place for him as a GTFC player we don't want to spoil that.

Ah I guess it's this time of the year where we see some old players out of contract and ponder bringing them back for sentimental value.

Surprised at the negativity towards the op. Maybe a deal is too far, but, at least allow him the opportunity to train with us. He was part of a group of lads that actually got what we were all about

*keeps rose coloured specs right in place

Is he good enough at this level , possibly not. Would he give 100% and care about the club, yes!

Good bloke, scored some important and impressive goals but not sure he’s ever done a job at this level.

I can never fully understand the obsession a lot of posters have with ex players and the possibility of them returning. I can understand it if a player, who was a product of our youth system , being sold for to a top club and then returning aged about 30 to finish his career here. But these " run of the mill " players , even if they did score an important goal, are a totally different proposition.

This.
Also occurs with managers too.
A player who three years ago scored a monumental goal & had a great season, since then a steady decline culminating in been released from Boston.
Can't imagine many L2 clubs considering him.
But he "gets" the club.
Couldn't make it up.

Ex-players should be stuffed and mounted in McMenemy’s for their fans to admire.

(Except for Ron Rafferty ;))

I know I once said I wanted Dave Gilbert’s baby when he scored a late winner at Luton, but it was purely figurative. I don’t really wanna stuff any Town players 😄

Wouldn't bother bringing him back. Bought nothing to the table last time and frankly I think we are better off without him. 1 winning goal doesn't make a player.

No. But it can make a legend.

I think you’ll find he scored more than one vital goal in his time with us. How about the two at Eastleigh (both cracking goals) that put us in the final the year before for example.
