Normally we have in the local rag the headline about record ST sales for this time of the year ,does this missing headline mean they have slowed down on previous efforts GTFC?

Dunno why that should be the case. The launch and subsequent marketing campaign has been seamless.

I like to see how many we've sold but havent seen anything. A weekly update woulld be nice.. Doesn't change anything but it's just nice to know.

I don’t think it makes particularly good press releasing a statement saying we’ve sold a couple of hundred season tickets. It usually just gets negative responses and comparisons with Lincoln.

Well I’ve bought mine if that’s any help?

I fully intend renewing but won't be doing so until I see some positive activity from the club. The fact that they needed a pretty substantial shove from the fans groups regarding monthly payments shows a serious lack of competence.

Zebra Finance, the company that did this for virtually every football club, only announced that they wouldn't be able to do it at the very end of March. So it's taken about 6 weeks to put something else into place, it's not like it's taken an age to get this sorted, and I would expect other clubs have had the same problem. I doubt it was possible to arrange something in a matter of days just because fans kicked off about it, and I'm sure it was already underway. As usual, the communication wasn't great, but I don't understand why everything has to be viewed so cynically.

about 25 years of bitter experience of poor communications, lack of trust, dashed hopes, bitter disappointment, disillusionment and disengagement might start to explain the cynicism

I'll be renewing but have little incentive to do so until the deadline approaches.

Normally they haven’t gone on sale at this point.

Sorry but this arguement holds no water...I have stated before that my golf club used Zebra and we were informed towards the end of February that Zebra would no longer be offering finance as the bank that funded them had, in basic terms, "pulled the plug" although any agreed deals would be upheld...within 7 days the golf club had another finance facilitator onboard so to say an outfit like GTFC, which is a lot bigger and has more members(ST holders) couldn't get it's finger out it's backside and sort something "before the fans kicked off" should and has been met with cynicism.

‘Season Ticket Finance Announcement’.

Grimsby Town football club have received the unfortunate news that Zebra Finance will be unable to continue the service they have provided up to now. The club are confident that a new broker will be found to enable those of you wishing to purchase next years ST’s on Finance to do so. This was completely outside of our control, but we are working hard to remedy this situation. Season Tickets are an extremely valuable sauce of income and we apologise for any inconvenience to our loyal fans. We will of course keep fans updated as soon as we have any more information.  UTM.  ‘

That took me literally 5 mins to produce. And that was on my phone. I would have put that out the moment we knew that Zebra we’re pulling the plug!!

I did read somewhere that we had sold 500 and seeing we are still only halfway through May that's not bad imo.

Come renew your Season Ticket.

Why?

Look at our marketing, here's a picture of x on front of your season ticket pack scoring a goal. That always works...

Why pay for it now when you can keep hold of your cash for another couple of months and buy closer to the deadline?

And therein lies the reason why the club is in ths position. The people at the helm seem to have the same attitude.

Usually though it's a headline so specific it's a meaninless stat:

'We've had the best starting sales for a May when the third Tuesday is the 14th', or 'season ticket sales break records for the first week of sales when Slack Alice is on duty at the Barca'.

I'm sorry but if you can spell Google, are able to use a computer and use a phone, it would take less than a day to sort it out and just a couple more to sort the paperwork..

And I would guess it took a week or so for GTFC to sort out after the season ticket launch because they thought mistakenly in their wisdom that the four month finance deal would be good enough for the fans. Same sort of thinking that got us the Self Select scheme which less than ten people took up. Not having a moan for moaning's sake, just want my club to wake up out of it's slumber and start showing some excellence for a change. Why do they have to make anything simple seem like rocket science?

Thanks for the inside track on this. Why does everything have to be viewed cynically? I think you probably know...unless you’ve been living under a rock since the turn of the last century.

In fairness, an update would require someone to count line-by-line the renewals in the exercise book that we use to record sales.

You lot are all so cynical, don't you realise that our forward thinking board have come up with a brand new way of making more dosh, it goes like this. Don't encourage the sale of season tickets, hence the majority of fans are then pay on the day type, as over a season this would mean fans actually paying more then eventually the club get more money. See and you all thought GTFC was devoid of thought.
