I've no time for him after he wanted all that money to play in John Mcdermott's testimonial. May be an Italian thing, but it didn't sit well with me. And I bet he wasn't listening to Brian Laws when he got smacked round the chops!

I love this phrase, such a classic journalistic cliche, but basically true  :)

“Nearly 200 miles north of Wembley, upon England’s east coast, lies Blundell Park, the ramshackle home of Grimsby Town FC. The weather-beaten stands, all of differing vintage and design, perennially take the force of gales whipping in from the North Sea. It’s full of character, but it’s a pretty inhospitable place. It’s the kind of place that even Stoke wouldn’t fancy on a cold Tuesday night.”

Was there a public kiss and make up in the centre circle between Brian and Ivano?

A very awkward staged handshake, perhaps?

Yeah. Before the West Ham replay but it was just for show. At least on Ivano's part. He went on to launch a lawsuit.

Reminds me of the recent Operation Promotion....at the time of Ivano signing most local pubs had name cards running for the Ivano fund and fund raising evenings ongoing.
My lad was recently gifted a Bonetti shirt which was won in a pub raffle back then.

Before both of those there was similar for Joe Waters as well....

We are a good bunch when we get the inspiration.  UTM

I was only a young mariner at the time but I was utterly captivated by Ivano. Ivano,Oster and Donovan for me as players that were really exciting to watch.

I remember watching Bonetti play and what a good player he was, and people are still talking about him now which is not bad for a player that played less than 20 games for Town.

Ive been following Town for 40 year`s and nothing has excited me in that time like the few Months of Ivano fever the whole Town was buzzing and everyone was talking about GTFC. The WBA game with 8k in the ground was unreal in terms of atmosphere and ingredients and arguably the best Manager weve ever had and a lot of former fan`s favourites cast in the role of villains .BP resembled a bear pit Laws set the tone when he practically launched Gilbert into the Findus and Ivano brought the whole house down with a great volley late on. Not long after Luton were slaughtered 7-1 at BP and it could have been 20 but for a great goalkeeping display and every single Town fan believed anything was possible . The way it all ended was the way it all started like a whirlwind Brian Laws was lucky that at the time he had the fan`s onside and that diluted most of the bad vibes from the Ivano fallout. Whilst he only played around 20 games his place is firmly cemented in 8k hearts here on the East Coast IVANO IVANO IVANO

It was one of the most exciting times to be a town fan and I’m sure we all often wonder about what might have been.

However as time goes by, i tend to think that his ego was too big for it ever to end well.  Teams like ours are better off in the long run without big egos but a great team ethos.  And that is what makes the current situation potentially exciting.  The manager and his deputy seem very grounded and they are building a team in their image.
