Was just having a look on my Bet Victor account about some odds on Town this season and I'm puzzled by the following.

Top 7 finish - Town are 12/1
To make the play-offs - Town are 33/1

Surely a Top 7 finish IS making the play-offs, so why such wildly different odds. Am I missing something?

I initially thought I could have misread it and it was to WIN the play-offs but it is just to make the play-offs.

They're both exactly the same thing except the only slight difference is if we finished 1st - 3rd I assume your play off bet wouldn't count?

I may be wrong but it could be because three go up so if we finished there it wouldn’t be making to play offs. That means that instead of 7 places at 12/1 it would be only 4 places at 33/1. So if you don’t believe we would automatically go up the latter is a better bet

I’d happily Lose money on that bet because we finished in the automatic promotion places   >:(

It means there is a 7.7% chance of a top 7 finish but a 3% chance of finishing 4th to 7th. So they think we are more likely to finish top 3 (4.7%) than 4th to 7th. Given the top two look miles away the 33/1 looks the better bet.

I have never used sky bet app before. If I place a bet on town to win 1-0. Have I got it right I can cash out before game finishes. I don't really understand it.

Yeah but you won't get the full amount that you would if you wait for full time. Say Town take the lead on 5 mins then the cash out value will be low as there are still 85 mins plus injury time to play. The cashout value will increase as the game goes on if it stays at 1-0. Also, I don't use Sky Bet but a lot of the other bookies will suspend cashout at several points in the game, so don't bank on being able to cashout whenever you want. For example cashout will 100% be suspended when penalties, dangerous free kicks and corners are given.
