What date does his loan expire?

Heard last week he was close to agreeing a deal to stay at the club (not sure if either loan or perm) but it seemed to have gone quiet especially after Jolley saying last week something is very close to being sorted.

Heard Scunthorpe were keen on him as Hendrie worked under Stuart McCall at Bradford, hope this has nothing to do with it as I really rate Hendrie.

That's just a fan blog isn't it? Probably read the Scunny thing on here and had some pages to fill.  :-/

His loan expires Monday and M.J has said there taking it step by step because other teams seem to be interested.

Davis is still out Saturday.

Well if scunny do come knocking for him that'll be a right kick in the gonads....
No way could we compete with them financially, just hope that he would prefer to work for Jolley rather than Mr Sophisticated McCall...but as we know, in football, money tends to be the root of all evil...

Nobody could blame a L2 player for moving to a L1 club if they’re paying more money. We’d all do the same .

The Shropshire star are reporting that Hendrie is signing for us on permanent, lord knows how accurate that is however.

Can't see Hendrie going to Scunny. Starts from scratch, has to integrate and nail down a place in a higher league, and things still far from certain over there both on the pitch and certainly off it.
He's a sensible lad, he sees where this teams going under MJ and I bet his Dad will see the move as the best for him.

No reason to doubt you Hagrid so big 👍 up from me!!

Little surprised it is only 18 months, I thought we may have gone to the same 2 1/2 year deal we handed out to Öhman.

Excellent business from Town in the window already in getting rid of some fringe players, securing the services of two of out stand-out performers and bringing in what we hope will be quality in defence in Ring and Öhman!

A pacy winger and another option up top to replace Hooper/Robles and I think we can look at this as one of our best winter transfer windows for a long time!

You’d be hard pushed to argue with that. Having said that, I can’t really remember a good one.

The one where we signed Devvit, Brodie, Hannah, Lennie and then resigned Marcus Marshall after Luton tried to shaft us was pretty exciting at the time, but it never really quite worked out did it?

Friend of mine whos in with the club, he told me about vernam signing week before it was announced and often lets me know bits and pieces as and when he gets the info. Confirmed he’s signed an 18 monthe deal and i back him 100%!

About time we had some long term planning. 12 month contracts doesn't lend its self to the 'let's get promoted' gang more like ' well I'm here, I'll play Saturday and if we lose hey Ho'.
Well done Michael Jolley for manager of the month and having foresight.

Believe there was an 18 month deal agreed before Christmas but perhaps negotiations and ‘other interest’ have meant that the length of contract has changed? Either way it’s good for Town.

That's exactly what those "in the know" / "ex-agent" accounts on twitter would say when their tip doesn't come through as they said.  ;)

I'm going with a 18 months

Think we have plenty of cover now in defence and the last few games show the versatility of our squad players

True and I’ve criticised those accounts recently. No reason to doubt my source at all and they said 18month perm deal was agreed in principle before the Notts County match. It wouldn’t be surprising if his agent had whipped up some rumours to get a better deal though.

Would be a very good signing. Another player who was a little hit and miss when he first joined but has been very reliable since he got up to proper fitness and developed an understanding with his teammates. I'd say he's probably one of the best footballing full-backs we've had for some years.

Fantastic addition. Very capable at this level but his workrate is his most outstanding attribute. I certainly like the personality traits that we are clearly looking for in our signings.

Been very impressed with him and he can play in so many positions too. Next seasons back line forming nicely, just want a forward player or two now to make a good window a great one.

If you had to pick a starting 11 from players already contracted for next season, then we have nearly every position already covered with decent players.  Some contract extensions and a handful of further signings and we are well set.  So far we have:

McKeown

Ring
Hendrie
Öhman
Pollock (assume offered a pro deal)

Clifton
Hessenthaler
Whitehouse

Vernam
A Rose
Cardwell/ Cook

Thought Davis & Whoitmore signed for longer than one season but could be wrong

Whitmore has an option (not sure if it's his or our's to trigger though) and Davis has 2 years so we're well covered with defenders for next year already. Hopefully we can secure Thomas and Pringle for next season and we still need something different out wide I feel, someone who can beat a man and whip in a cross.

Interesting to see what happens with RHJ.

Obviously been very good and flexible on where he can play recently, although when I have seen him (and that’s not as many times as most of you) he has been decent anyway. Now showing he can do a job at centre back can only be a good thing. But with Davis also able to cover right back, are we looking at having too many numbers?

Hope not, I think he has also covered LB before so always good to have a utility player even if he is not first choice in any position which is difficult to imagine with the squad we are now amassing.

Good times

Great news indeed.

Can I also say just how refreshing it is, finally, since the new manager joined, to see such a statement of intent and such confidence about the length of contracts being offered to players.

I remember in not very distant years back how it was always rolling or 12 month contracts at most.. like there simply was no confidence in the player or about where we would be in 12 months time. This somehow signals we have confidence about where we're going and it's extremely welcome from my perspective.

As some others have said, it's fantastic to see us giving longer deals to players we already have on the books (permanent or on loan). As it's less of a gamble because we know their character and how they fit in here.

Yet another good signing. M.J. is really starting to put his team together. Proof if ever I’ve seen it that you can’t fix problems or build something in 1 window.

Which in fairness is exactly what Jolley said late last season/early this season.

Fingers crossed at having a summer of only a handful of additions to compliment our exsisting squad,  as opposed to the usual exodus!

His contract with Preston runs out end of the season, with us till end of season,

Not sure if Jolley is after him perm straight away but I think there is better wingers out there to look for next season, seemed to have gone off the boil a bit lately in my eyes

This has been universally received as a good signing by Town I think.

I like Hendrie. He's not flash but a very consistent solid performer. His versatility to cover across the back 4 is a big plus as well. He's another player who's got better and better throughout the season.

His performances have shown he is quite capable of playing above this league. I feared a L1 team would come and snatch him off us.

2 and a half year deal is good too. More forward thinking by the club. He's obviously enjoying his time at BP and I think this shows a real togetherness that is developing with the team. Embleton was happy to extend his time here as well (albeit to the end of the season).

To think barely 2 months ago there was murmurings that Jolley's position was under threat.

I think its been a good transfer window already. Keeping Embleton for now, signing up Hendrie on a long term deal, extending Cardwell's contract and signing the 2 Swedish defenders. Squad shows some real depth.

I hope we are not done just yet. Would love to see someone who can put the ball in the back of the net to take the weight off Thomas. The 'rumour' about the Finnish striker is intriguing.

And we  perhaps lack a wide man with a bit of pace.

2 more signings like these could really make for an exciting 2nd half to the season. Dont think I have felt more positive about the team since the promotion season.

20 games to go and 9 pts off the play offs.............................

Really positive January thus far !

Hopefully no more injuries or red cards with some tough matches coming up.

If 2 more gems can slip in during the window, then every chance of further progress moving higher up the league.

Play offs perhaps slightly too much to hope for, but let the manager keep going and taking the fans in his wake.

Ship steadied, now for full speed ahead !!
