I remember him scoring six against Scarborough , I think they then went and beat a good West Ham side in the next round .

Until I saw he had been sacked thats all I knew him for, didnt even know he was even involved in football anymore. But, yes watching that as a kid on ITVs Midweek Sport Special, probably taped on VHS as MSS was on far too late but was one of the few places you could watch football on the telly. How times change.

Roger Palmer was like 40 year old but I mainly remember Oldham when in the old first division.  Other players like Frankie Bunn, Andy Ritchie etc.  They weren't a bad team back then even with that plastic pitch which I think only them and Luton had.
