Man Utd v Reading??

Anyone got a good reason as to why this game's being shown live?

A has-been Premiership team at home to a struggling Championship team!

TV companies argue it is about advertising income. More people watch Man U sadly

Loads of people "support" Moan Utd - so loads of people watch them on the telly box

Agree with all of the televised ties except Man Utd/Reading and Liverpool/Wolves. What do the BBC get out of broadcasting an all PL tie? It’s not advertising money. The Arsenal one is likely to be a bit dull as too if Blackpool and their boycotted ground get past Solihull. All that said I still don’t think ours is worthy of live TV.

It is still subject to change. It isn't 3pm on the Saturday until confirmed by either club. It bloody better be.

Only two are poor choices, the rest I thought were bankers.

I assume the Man U. game is because that will likely get the bigger overseas audience.

The Wolves game is really the only barmy one for me.

BEEB are showing Liverpool (and would have done ManURe if possible I bet) as its their only chance to show Premiershit teams live. Surprised they didn't go for Man City as well to try and get some viewing figures for sports dept.

It would be on foreign tv whether it was on here or not. This is just BT trying to grab some advertising money to make up 0.00000001% of the money they spunked on the CL!

I am not sure what other tie would qualify as an attractive TV option.  Derby v Southampton perhaps??

A PL team (United) home to a struggling championship side (Reading) for me is the worst but as has been said being United may attract an audience (Though watching that shower these days is even turning die hard United fans off). Wolves v Scousers...2 good footballing sides should make for a good game and is no walkover for Liverpool.

The others fit the general criteria of a PL side away to a lower division side and the (slim) chance of an upset.

Anyone who thought Palace v Town would be on are delusional. PL home to L2...........no one outside NE Lincs or Croydon would give a excrement.

Of course a replay at BP would be a different matter.

Full stadiums look better on TV.

I thought Everton v Lincoln was a certainty for TV coverage given their recent cup history.

If by some miracle we force a replay, I am sure that will be chosen for TV.

Tribal, ethnic, possible shock as underdog might win

Alternatively Paddy and Matt v Pearson and others?

Maybe I was being a bit hasty in my “confirmed at 3 PM kick-off” statement! I read some posts on Facebook and Twitter confirming the time! Russian backed fake news may be?

So just to let you know the latest is..... it will be a 5:30pm kickoff on Saturday for TV in other countries, plus £15 ticket price to encourage more Palace fans to turn up!  I’ll let you decide if this is true or not

For all the complaining about it being not on tv it has to be said that it makes it a lot easier in general to attend games at 3pm on a Saturday. If we get through this game we'll have to contend with annoying kick off times for the rest of the tournament probably.

Bit of info for those looking for transport to the game:-

Had an email from Soccer Express, the company i travelled with to Wembley for the play off final. Seats on their coaches are £30, or for £99, you can get a hotel room with breakfast thrown in. If they are using the same coaches as last time, the were very smart and modern. They do however state that the game is on the Saturday, and the pick up point is outside McDonalds at 7.45, so they may have to alter that.

Phone 0333 444 0226 or call into the club shop for info.

I will probably use them again.

Same here, just had the same email from them after using them for the Town FA Trophy Final at Wembley.

Thought they were very good even though the coach broke down on the way back but they got a replacement pretty quickly.

Wonder what we get for being on tv overseas? It wasn’t very much in round 1.

The FA’s live broadcast fee is £75,000 per club. The broadcast fee for extended highlights on a Saturday is £6,750 per club while the fee for extended highlights, overseas broadcast and live single camera footage on a Sunday is £12,500 per club.

Mind you whenever did JF think of the fans?

I'm not sure JF or the club would have had much say on the kick off time, especially if it has been chosen for TV
Also there is far more options then the train. I'm sure it won't kill people to pay less then a train fare and take the bus

I'm not one for defending JF and Co but this one can't be pinned on him, it's the FA that has set the time and date..
The club are speaking to soccer to express re coach travel, actually think travelling by coach is a great idea, adds to the experience of what, hopefully, will be a great day out..

I don't get the 5.30 thing - why does it have to move when Al Jazeera or whoever can show 3.00 games? I suppose they can now show 3 games on the bounce (to answer my own question!)

Coach travel always going to be a better option than train from Gy even with a 3pm ko - with engineering works it was going to be a tortuous journey any road-up. For us exiles south of Lincs, there's a choice of Peterborough or Leicester for the train. East Mids line looks better because no engineering works. Probably Mkt Harborough for me actually - for some reason the fare is a good bit cheaper

The more successful a team you are the more your fixtures get moved around as it means that other people besides the regular supporters want to watch you.

We should welcome fixture rescheduling as it means we must be doing something right. It's an inconvenience for the travelling supporter but the price you pay for success.

I have to agree Rob. It’s a shame that the broadcasters in the UK don’t see us as much of a potential upset as the foreigners do and it’s going to hit our fans financially. It’s probably the worst kick off time we could have had but let’s see it as a positive - ESPN and Bein think we can win it!

Is that £50k to each club or between the 2 clubs? If we get a 10000 gate I'm guessing we are looking at c £50k from the shared gate receipts. So in total were looking at £150-£200 k from this cup run which is a very welcome bonus

I'd hope for alot more than 10k. Opportunity for Palace fans to take kids along when they normally wouldn't be able to afford it and / or can't normally get tickets for Prem games.
