Someone has asked me who the 9 GTFC players were who were killed in ww1 were? The only 2 I know are:

Ralph Thompson
Sid Wheelhouse

Who were the others?

According to footballandthefirstworldwar.org, the following seven casualties had played for Town:

Henry Gildea
John Hodgkinson
Thomas Kelly
Thomas Morris
Harold Springthorpe
Ralph Thompson
Sidney Wheelhouse

Slightly off-topic, but there's a chap in the Grimsby Telegraph called Dave Hughes aged 96 sharing his stories serving on board minesweepers from 1943 and remembering his pals who were killed in action.

Always seen him at the Grimsby Town home matches in recent years. I bet he's got a few stories to tell about Grimsby Town from back in the day.
