How many local lads in the last decade have made the grade in professional football , I know one or two have been at pro clubs and not quite made it but other than Clifton I can’t really think of any. I perhaps should include max wright seeing as though he’s been on pro terms for a while now.

Alex Flett at Clee Town was a pro at Bradford as a youngster.

Not sure we can even claim that to be fair. He spent 10 years at Ipswich before joining Town in 2006, making his first team debut the following year.

Think there was a lad who was in Man City’s youth team about 10 years ago from Grimsby. Unfortunately can’t remember his name, but think we were linked with him at some point.

Reece York is at Sheffield United after being at Fulham (where he left GTFC at 15/16 for) but hasn't broken into first team.

Lewis Collins, although looks to have dropped out of the pro game after signing at Clee Town, was at Reading and then Mansfield.

Yeah quite; I always think it's scraping the barrel claiming some youth system credit when he played for them for about 6 months!

And made a few appearances in the top division (Primera?). Don't think he was a Town youth product though - maybe only latter stages of the Youth. Came from down south having lived in Spain.

Apparently he wasn't good enough for us in the Conference.

While I think about that period, what happened to the Albanian lad? Andi Thanoj.

He was born there, guessing that's why you're thinking of it. Looking at his wiki he never actually signed for Forest, he turned them down to sign for us!

So other than the lads mentioned in the gtfc team/ squad nobody now or in recent years has made a living out of pro football anywhere in the pyramid . Considering our area 160+k population what’s going wrong ?

Was gonna say Hegarty but I think he was from Wakefield and picked up from Forest's academy.

Also, his debut was over 10 years ago.
