It's a one off payment to watch the match. You don't need a subscription.

Never mind, I was a ST holder for over 10 years and always buy the new kits so not paying alot of money to just watch 4 or 5 games tops is justifiable. Twitter text and socccer saturday through my mums sky sports online account it is.

Well done to any women who are at BP tonight, especially with bake off Semi finals on  :-/ ;D

I've yet to be convinced with RHJ, is he a natural full back or a wing back trying to be a full back.

I'm sick of him playing us. How long before he crumples outside the box when a Town player brushes past him.

Vernam twice, and Embleton failing to get a shot off  with 3 great chances. Ball wouldn't fall for Hooper 6 yards out and chose to lay off a couple of times when might have had a snap shot.

Can't help thinking if it was Hooper not Vernam who didn't get his shot off twice, he'd be killed on here.

Some great chances not taken. One mistake could easily have cost us. Really should not be 0-0.

Everyone doing there bit, just need one or two players to get a couple of goals in the next few games so they build the confidence to shoot and score.

Lots of work, press and endeavour just a bit guilty of either under playing it or over playing it at times.

Get Hooper back on the right end Embleton back left get the ball down and keep it for a bit and we’ll be ok.

The overall performance is good, some pretty decent football at times, however we still look blunt in the final third - would love to see Pringle given a 30 mins or so to see if he can make a difference.

Harry Clifton looks like he's going to be one of the best centre-mids we've had for quite some time.

Why are we trying to walk the ball into the net? utterly ridiculous. Is there no one on the bench who has the bottle to SHOOT
Posted by: Maringer, October 23, 2018, 8:42pm; Reply: 24
Must be noted that some of our passing has been shocking. Not just RHJ who has set them on the attack by skewing simple passes to teammates.

Some good runs into the box from Vernam and Embleton but where are the shots? As Buckley would say, if you try to make a chance a bit better, you often lose it.

I can see us struggling against them as we play into the wind in the second half. A couple of big blokes up front, some big defenders, a long throw merchant and pace out wide could be difficult to defend when it is harder to clear

Personally I think altho we hav created quite a few good positions and a good chance Colchester have looked the better side outside our box. They also has the best chance from an awful hall-johnson screw up reminiscent of the fgr game. Overall lucky to be 0-0 at half time.
For what it's worth I thought the lack of atmosphere could not get any worse than the Exeter game but this match may as well be being played on the moon in that regard...

Thought pretty much everyone played well, but perhaps HJ is a weak link. Loses the ball a lot, got caught out many times too.
Barely even saw Hendrie.
Otherwise the team picks itself.

Fox left, Hendrie right probably, if everyone was fit.

10 points from 4 games and zero goals conceded. Good little run. Should give the lads confidence. Hope they get a decent following on Sat.

I think your being a bit harsh tbh. We've looked loads better at the back since they both started the last 4 games.

Agreed im not having that, HJ has improved the side since his return, he’s young and inexperienced, he will have bad games, but I think he’s got great quality and needs the supporters backing to be an important player for us

Very good result and the players fully deserved their round of applause at the end. Well crafted goal, would have liked for Embleton to have had a wack at it earlier on and for us to be a bit braver in the final 3rd. A clean sheet and another win, things are starting to look up, well done lads.

I'm an exile and certainly wasn't meaning to imply he's a bad player as I've not seen enough games to form a fair opinion. Tonight to me he stood out as the one player to give the ball away a lot and get caught out by their attacks. May well just be he had a bad game, or Colchester are much stronger on their right side.

Really? As I got to watch the game, and guessing many/most who are on here during 90 minutes didn't, was trying to share my thoughts. As someone who rarely gets to see games I'd assumed the thoughts of someone fresh to all the players would be of interest.

Already been saying we were better side, deserved the win. Very happy town fan.

Thought I was being helpful. I'll keep quiet.

It's easy to get caught up in the minutiae and over-analyse match performances but, on the face of it - 10 points from 12 and four clean sheets.

Given the run we were on, I can have no complaints.

Of course, in the detail of the performances we might still see weaknesses and areas to improve, but I imagine MJ and the players are already trying to address those.

This isn't like last season, when we were scraping results under Slade but always looking like we could hit a winless run.

There's a bit more hope and promise in this side. I can see what we're trying to achieve, we just need time for the manager and the players to properly execute it.

The last four results may not have had swashbuckling performances but given the precarious position we were in, there's no doubt the players were feeling the pressure.

When we nudge ourselves into a safer mid-table position we might take those shackles off a bit.

Who would have thought when seeing the pre-match midfield lineup of Embleton, Rose, Clifton and Vernam for the Carlisle away game (at the point of having 6 lost on the bounce)  that things would turn around as they have?
Posted by: Mariner93er, October 23, 2018, 10:12pm; Reply: 61
I think having clifton and rose in the middle has been a big part of this. Both mobile and physical. There's better technical players for the position than rose, but non who have as much balls as he does for getting their heads up and trying to play a pass.

Think it was the 'weak link's bit based on this game. To be fair he didn't have a great game and had one or two dodgy moments tonight. However I like the lad and over the last few games has done well. He's a other young one who no doubt will make the odd mistake but I think he more than justifies his place at the moment.

Not that bothered about over analysis, lads worked hard against a decent side and  pushed for the win which came with some great vision from Rose and a good finish from Wes.

10 points from 12 and 4 clean sheets massive improvement!!

I thought we were guilty of overplaying it on the floor tonight and it nearly cost us but for a poor finish and excellent save from McKeown.

Great to see us trying to play the right way, but sometimes the best option is just to clear the ball forwards and push up.

5 points from the next 3 away games would keep the unbeaten run going and keep confidence high.

I think RHJ is getting an unfair account of his game, yes he almost gave away a goal with a moment of madness, but he was pretty good other than that. Nouble was fast and strong keeping him pushed back and defensively he did well to stop any real threat from that side. His pace allows him to cover for the defence and get back into positions to disrupt attacking players which we didn't have a few weeks ago. There also seem to be far fewer times that the opposition have the ball and run into the box or put easy balls across since both RHJ and Hendrie have been in the team.

Thanks for that. Couldn’t really see the detail from the Main and have been looking forward to seeing the replay. Didn’t disappoint. Early candidate for goal of the season?
And great to see the Thomas salute. Keep em coming.
I think he’s quickly becoming a key player for us even without the goals. He seems to attract the ball somehow, and his hold up play is great. With Embleton and Vernam seeming to be developing an understanding the attack is stating to look very dangerous. A few more shots on target and could be exiting times ahead.

The rapport at the end between the players and fans was great to see.  Although we were in the UF, the mutual appreciation from the LF to and from the players looked extra special.

Town fans and players should all have a spring in their steps today.  Especially after enduring 6 straight defeats.

As mentioned earlier, not that impressed by him as a full back, gave the penalty away on Saturday with a dopy foul then gifted Colchester their best two chances with a really poor back pass then dived in on their wide man who went past him like he wasn't there and a great cross that should have been converted.

His best bit of the game was a great run forward in the second half but defensively looks poor at the moment.
