Awful football leading to that goal, urine poor pass from Whitmoore, Wooly didn't have a hope and what RB doesn't shield a player out wide in that situation instead lets them inside. Macca had no hope, curled into the far post

Famewo plays with Whitmore, defence plays a high line and looks pacey and solid and less of a gap to Cook. Collins plays with Whitmore, defence plays deeper and looks slow and shaky and Cook gets isolated. Collins dishing out bollockings left right and centre yet misses challenges and headers himself. It seems like he makes his fellow defenders nervy with his presence. Not convinced we need Collins as a starter at all, nearly always the same when he plays nowadays..

Clifton adds nothing defensively as he get's shrugged off the ball too often so why not play more offensively with Vernam. Jolley still baffling me or maybe he's just too conservative and defensively minded..

To be honest having been to every game so far including the friendlies I've not been that impressed with Whitmore.

I also have to say I'm not currently impressed with Jolley, more team changes, leaves out Vernam one of our best players and 2-0 down and still playing one up front.

Major changes this half or he will be losing a lot of support.

Got to say, I wasn't surprised by the negative line up today, I sadly expected it. Why is Vernam not starting? Collins shouldn't of started and Davis should be in the middle with Hendrie out wide. Can't wait for Thomas to be back so he can start up front in a three with Cook and Vernam.

Don't want to see him fail but I do wonder if he's a morph of bignot and slade,..
Plus Macca needs to get out of the habit of just hoofing it up field, Russell has far better distribution of the ball...

All this balderdash about what a great squad Jolley is building but he hasn't got a flipping clue who to play and where.

He might be good at attracting players he's not so hot at coaching and tactics. Like someone already said Slade in a suit (but without the experience)

I don't think anyone is calling for him to be sacked (yet) merely pointing out that this urine poor run can't go on and if it does it must not be allowed to go on as long as it did with Slade.

Sooner (preferably) or later Jolley has to actually deliver

It's gonna take time, -remember the God almighty mess he was left with. As uninspiring as it is lower mid-table would be progress.

He gonna need a few windows to shape us how he really wants, we seriously lacking in some aspects -pace, width etc. However some of the line-ups, tactics and chopping and changing worry me greatly... whereas on other occasions he bang on.

I've seen enough to think we'll be just clear of any dog fight -though I wouldn't put money where my mouth is tbh.

Its a results based business . and  1 in 7 after a poor pre season . players out of position.. no main striker , signing players that cannot play for one reason or another .Vernam left on the bench ..  players looking at eachother wondering what to do ..we cannot let last season repeat its self as its the trap door to hell. Agreed. Managers only have a finite amount of time to get things right, but there have already been calls for his head as early as last Saturday on social media. The league doesn't even start settling down until about 10 to 12 games into the season. There is a lot to put right with this team, on and off the pitch, and that won't happen overnight. He should get at least to the next window for me, unless we go on a massive losing streak of course.

That observation has been made a number of times this season. Jolley seems to hide behind the old 'they didn't do what I told them' excuse but surely it should have been drummed into them sufficiently for them to put it into practice on a Saturday, unless of course the system they are being asked to play is just total shite and ineffective (sadly I favour the latter at the moment)

Pathetic and gutless. Words I thought I wouldn't need to use so early in the season.

You should add clueless as well and that isn't the player's fault

Great save Macca, fortunately the 5th goal on the follow up was offside, static defending by town once again

[quote=22]Start with a formation that’s hard to beat . 3-5-2 works with players who at the top but sorry L2 players are out their depth with it [/quote

I’m not sure what today’s formation is but 4-4-2 usually works at this level

There is no way Clifton, Hessenthaler, Welsh and Rose should start in the same team. Steep learning curve is a polite way of putting it.

Seems we have no pace or guile, not impressed, its going to take some turning around can Jolley do it or is he too wet behind the ears

We started with that 451/433 switched to 442 in the second half

so the overall effect is the players dont have a clue what or where they are playing now

Tactics mean nothing if a player cannot pass to feet, control a ball and show some grit and determination.

Spot on

Set up 451 to contain and hit on the break. Get stuffed 4-0, what is all that about? Do we really know what formation to play and which players to play where? Answer no.

Whitmore and Davies are poor. Missed timed passes that I have los tcount of so far this season
Clifton, not good enough
Toothless up front
I could go on
Terrible performance, no shape, no nothing

I honestly dont think Jolley knows what to do. His selections and tactics baffle me

Really blown away by how bad that was. Frowned at the line up before kick off, but had faith, but shouldnt have because my concerns were right. I just think some of the selections and decision jolleys been making havnt been justified based on previous performances.

Hopefully some changes next game, and Thomas upfront and we’ll win.

Only Macca and Rose can hold their heads up after that, the only players to but any sort of effort in.

Can't understand why you would send your best bench option out. That said, at least Thomas is available next week.

You could sign Ronaldo, Messi, Kane and a dozen other over-hyped so called world stars but if you then appoint a manager whose experience is limited to the odd game of Subbuteo you aren't going to win many matches

Trying to play academy football at league 2 level doesn’t work, haven’t got the players to build from the back. Wide players scared to put a cross in

That was embarrassing. Everybody wants to lower their head in shame-Jolly included. Only Macca,Rose and the injured Fox deserve a lift home-I would make the rest walk preferably in the opposite direction. The defense can only back off back off and back off until the opponents shoot. They can only pass sideways or backwards and never to feet. The midfield don't create much and only seem to get in each others way-run about without doing anything. Can't say anything about the forwards because no words can describe them on a family forum. I am very worried-nearly as much as when Slade was here. As far as Jolly is concerned I'm afraid that he is not the great saviour. We made Bury look good when they are not exactly world beaters.  Excuses from Jolly wont do this time-5 points from 7 matches says how good we are.
Posted by: grimsbybrown, September 8, 2018, 5:13pm; Reply: 143

There were some basic things very wrong.  The lack to pressure on the ball around, and even in the box when defending made it feel like we thought it was still pre-season.

Cook has a lovely touch and technique, but he doesn't have the sheer presence or physicality to be alone up front, let's hope Thomas returning starts to see things fall into place and bring the best out of some of the others.

Fully agree and for all the over hype that Clifton has been getting I’m afraid he’s simply not been good enough although played out of position, people may not like it as he’s one of our own etc but he’s done nothing to suggest he should be starting most weeks

Players played out of position and others not knowing what they are supposed to do,

We called Slade for being clueless I am starting to doubt Jolley because he has not improved this team even after changing most of it.

Maybe Swin was right after all.

Possibly may not be good enough for this level but even playing out of position he did far more than Woolford who was garbage.
