Crystal Palace have announced they will loan players to lower leagues for FREE, provided those players actually play.

Palace are the first Premier League club to make this offer.

Great that someone is doing it for free.  But that should be the case anyway.  Loaning out of players is a way of developing their investment, the fact that clubs have managed to make a profit on it is scandalous and just proves the disdain that the elite treat the rest of the footballing ladder with.

Mandating that the players will have to play is just wrong.  What if they're not up to it or if it's not a game that will suit them, got to play them anyway to avoid a financial penalty?

I think the loan system is great but I find it appalling that bigger clubs are charging little clubs to loan their players.  Dictating the loan arrangements is another way of cheating the system in my eyes, it's akin to installing B teams in the Football League.

Is there a catch to this? Sounds far too good/sensible/selfless for a Premier league club idea.

Won't help us tho, be a bunch of London lads choosing to stay south of the border :-/

The only Zaha we’ll get Pete is Zaha Hadid and I think she’s dead now.

Sounds good unless you get a Tomi Ameobi or Tommy Forecast. if your duty bound to play them still then it wouldnt be worth it.

they may be calling them  "Free Loans" but that just means you dont pay a fee to facilitate the loan ......the key words are "to reduce the wage bill"......which I take to mean that you pay ALL the players wages .....and most 18yr old Prem team players are already on bigger wages than our high earners !!!!

Doesn't say that on the article I read. It says that the lower league club will pay half the weekly wage if they don't play for whatever reason barring injury, but that if they play then Palace pay the wages for that week in full.
