How are we going to set up with that XI? 5-3-2 with Dixon and Woolford at wing back wouldn't be massively inspiring!

4-5-1 with Hooper and Woolford wide and Cook up front. Which centre back would play right back?

Actually says 442 on os so must be....

                   Mckeown

Davis    whitmore   collins   dixon

Hessenthaler  Rose  welsh  woolford

               Cook    hooper

Alot of square pegs on round holes there and dunno what Vernam has done wrong again to not get in the team
Posted by: Gaffer58, August 11, 2018, 2:53pm; Reply: 22
My concern is that Jolley may already have his favourites and finds it hard to change players. There again he's probably told last weeks team, minus Clifton, to prove all us wrong.

Posted by: jonnyboy82, August 11, 2018, 2:58pm; Reply: 24
Why would he go 442 when we haven't got a wide player in the building apart from max wright., we either sold them or didnt want to keep em.

Surely not a square peg round holes situation today, must be 433.
Posted by: RichMariner, August 11, 2018, 2:58pm; Reply: 25
If that’s correct (442) then we don’t have a natural right back or right winger. And after turning Woolford into an effective central midfielder he’s back out on the wing where he was broadly ineffective before MJ arrived.

I’m not sure I can see what’s going on here, or what MJ’s ultimate plan is yet, because nothing appears to connect with what we were working up to in pre-season.

I’d be delighted if he could ram these words back down my throat come 5pm. I believe things will come good and I believe in MJ.

Town back four have comfortably dealt with everything(usually high) that Macc have thrown at them. An inswinging corner nearly crept in but I think Hessenthaler cleared at the back post.

In midfield we're retaining possession well but could raise the tempo a notch.
The goal was a cracker from cook from left of the D. Nearly 2-0 but their keeper (who has otherwise looked rash and like he might gift us something) tipped a point blank effort over.

Interesting way to frame it.

Rose was fortunate with a bad tackle last week where he was late and off the ground. Imho he’s half a yard too slow in everything he does, including some of his tackling. Haven’t seen today’s but it seems harsh to blame one of our own players for Rose’s decision.
