Just wondered which is the best way from Grimsby?

My Satnav in the car is telling me M1 until jct 30, through chesterfield then onto the A619

Quick google says to come off at Jct 33, into Sheffield and end up on the A623 in the peak district

Any idea of the best one?

I start from Sheffield so the Peak District/Castleton route is best. BUT Hull are at Wednesday and the weather over the Peak may be poor and the roads are windy and beset with cyclists and motorbikes.... so maybe a challenge!
On the other hand, anything via Buxton is dodgy in cloud wind and rain and you still have bikers!

Allow plenty of time so you can stop off whichever route.  I am looking closely at the weather and may yet go on the train with my railcard. £16 return for us oldies.

I've always gone via Chesterfield to avoid the risk of traffic in Sheffield, but there shouldn't be much in it whichever route you pick.

Google, for example, reckons the Sheffield route would be 1 minute quicker if I were to leave Clee right now!

Actually going to take the train for once.....one change at Stockport.   :)

For drivers you could also take the M62 route as opposed to going Sheffield/Chesterfield ...however why deny yourself the beauty of the peak district routes and the twisty road challenges.

BBC Weather now changed to a lovely day over the Peak so fewer terrors on the Cat and Fiddle route.

Just noticed that Ipswich are at Rotherham so even more M18 traffic!

Chesterfield, Bakewell, Buxton and passed the Cat and Fiddle. Beautiful trip this time of year and we’ll worth setting off a little earlier to stop off on the way.

Which way is that takes you over Snake Pass through Hyde is it?

Don't really stay in the motorway if I can help it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you do the Sheffield route it is better to go via Castleton/ Winnats pass and on to Chapel En Le Frith/ Whaley Bridge etc. Very scenic with tomorrow's forecast. I have done it twice from Hillsborough area. 70 min.
