Not a regular poster but always read the fishy. This season I'm thinking about writing a few words on each game. Not an expert but find it easier to write a poem on how I saw the game.

Town v FGR

Like the first day back at school, new faces and uniforms.
Combining our in-built fear with excitement.
How could the Mariners compete with England’s greenest?

Blundell Park, equally pleasant with England’s finest Rose,
Casting our famous comic into the shadows.
A fine summer day, no smoky charcoal, just ale and banter.

Scenes in the stands resembled long lost family,
Forced apart by the summer break,
All helped a healthy gate.

Not from the village people,
Only 72, voting with their feet,
A retreat, not surrender, to help Dale reduce his carbon miles.

Outplayed and outclassed,
Deep pockets for all to see,
Progressing past the spirit of survival.

A new Captain at the helm,
Looks able to tame the storms ahead,
And steer the Mariners to virgin glory.

The performance hurt but sooner forgotten,
A happy Dale, not neutral, but surplus carbon,
Left by the fans as they verbed organic noons.

Good stuff, if I can just add my bit......

Went to see Town under Michael Jolley
The new messiah that's going to get us back on track
After that performance yesterday
Probably the first manager in League 2 this season to get the sack

Three stars made us laugh
Dale's stars outplay Michael's
The hippy laughs last
