A coupe of surprises there....

No kay many would have had Dixon starting or Cook over Vernham but I have faith in Jolley & and Limbrick and if they think that's the way to go them I'm all for it.

Hessentahler Dixon and Clifton surprises for me.
Maybe on a hot day saving Hall Johnson, Vernham and Hessentahler for impact later in the game

Looks like a solid starting line up and plenty of pace on the bench - maybe he is thinking that in the heat a few fast runners in final third of the game is a good tactic

Had a couple of chances but letting FGR have way too much space to play the ball right now. We'll let one in if we don't sort it.

FGR the better side at the moment. Haven’t quite figured Cook out yet. Him and Hooper haven’t really clicked.

Forest Green ahvign the lions share of possession and creating the better chances but Town do look dangerous on the break.

Not completely sold on Cook yet either.. He's playing as a central striker but IMO he needs to be picking up the ball and running with it rather than playing with his back to goal as he is at the moment. He's getting muscled off the ball too easily and losing possession.

Kind of generous. Nothing we did really worried them, often too slow or too many bad passes meant our counterattacks didn't go anywhere when we had an advantage to press.

1st game of the season against a club who probably won't make it above 18th?

we really should be doing better than this. Yes, we took the lead, but it was lucky.

I feel we are still missing a quality striker and a winger...

Like many surprised by some of the team selection and after 45 minutes I'm not convinced. Midfields and CBs too static leaving fullbacks exposed and strikers isolated. We're lucky to be in the lead. But Dixon is finally getting some support and Woolford is getting forward more to support the strikers so its heading in the right direction

FGR look a tidy team and are playing some good stuff but, despite that haven't created much. Perhaps a bit too tippy-tappy in their approach play. They've got acres of space in the middle as we've dropped back to pretty much 5-3-2 so they are picking up pretty much everything in there.

An interesting selection from Jolley which leaves us badly lacking in pace in comparison to FGR (though they will certainly be outspending us a huge amount). Cook has done OK in fits and starts but keeps losing his footing when it a decent position to get forward with it. Looks a bit lightweight but has shown some decent touches. Dixon looking shaky and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the hook in the second half. Clifton struggling against their forward who keeps dropping off to his side - big, strong and skilful so it's going to be a battle for him.

Interesting watching the subs at half time, rather than just kicking the ball around in a circle they’re doing an organised routine of stretches and short sprints.

Will see if theres any subs to start the second half
Posted by: Spidey, August 4, 2018, 3:59pm; Reply: 47
Bit of a flat 1st half, no standout player for Town. Had to play it back a few times, as their was no movement upfront or around the ball for the midfielder's to pass to someone. Hate to say it but Gunning playing well for them. Attacking the away end 2nd half. At least we're winning, FGR had a few chances, looking a little dangerous at times. We should win this!

Hagrid I could not agree more.
I spent over 5 years watching Harry play on a Saturday and Sunday.
He is a central midfielder.
Likes to push balls through for the strikers and hold up play a bit.
He is so out of position.
