GTFC Starting XI: McKeown, Davis, Whitmore, Collins, Welsh, Clifton, M. Rose, Hessenthaler, Hall-Johnson, Hooper, Vernam.

Subs: Woolford, Fox, Dixon, Famewo, Robles, Russell.

No Jordan Cook in the squad so I'm guessing he's carrying a knock. Other than that, strong starting XI.

Maybe he's a bit overcooked.

I’d this is 532 who is left wing back?  We seem to have 3 wing backs on the bench?

I'm guessing it's RHJ left with Clifton right.

17 minutes gone and Town the better side so far. I've been impressed with Welsh, and Hessenthaler out of the new boys but Davis and Whitmore look strong at the back and Vernham is making a nuisance of himself up top, buzzing around the Donny defence.

1-0 Town.... Fantastic curling strike from Hall-Johnson from 25 yards!

From just outside the area.

I thought Doncaster looked the better side but heyho.....we are winning. 😀

The goal certainly has given us a bit more confidence.

I think Donny came into it a little more as the half wore on but I've been impressed with how we've kept them at bay... Especially the dangerous Marquis.

We've certainly played well and caused Donny problems. The defence and midfield look very strong but I'm not convinced we get the best out of Hooper playing him as a centre forward... He doesn't utilise his strength enough for me in that role and lacks some movement IMO... he's much more dangerous playing left of a front 3 but this looks like the formation of choice going into the season.

I still think we need a better option up top with Vernham... Cook maybe or is he more of a wide/No10 player too?

Doncaster will feel a little aggreived to not be level at half-time.
Great goal though and worth the entry fee.
Good clearance off the line by Town.

Funny moment in the first half when a Donny fan cheered  thinking they had scored from a free kick and got jeered by the Town fans.

The Town defence just looking a little too relaxed opening few minutes of the second half with both Davis and Whitmore guilty of either over-playing or giving the ball away cheaply which almost lead to Donny goals.

Let's hope they get that out of their system before the 4th...other than that the defence has looked strong and compact!

Mitch Rose has been excellent so far IMO... looks full of confidence, has shown some neat skill and picked out some lovely passes!

@ReeceHallJ's first-half wonder strike helps guide Michael Jolley's side to their first win of pre-season!

90+1' CLOSE! A good ball in from Famewo finds @Hessenthaler8_J, whose looping header goes just over the bar

A combination of poor finishing, good goalkeeping and some heroic defending preserved our one goal advantage. Town got better and more confident as the game wore on, finished the stronger and were worthy winners in the end. Good, enjoyable game.
