The prices they realise never cease to amaze me. Today, Town vs West Ham in the 1948-9 season sold for £320 on ebay, I assume because it was wanted by a good number of Hammers collectors rather than Town fans? Six folk were prepared to bid over £100 for the programme, so if you've a spare one kicking about get it on ebay pdq.

I threw my collection out in a vicious clear-out about 10 years ago. They went back to 1964 or 1965 when we played West Ham in the (League?) Cup. That was really intelligent. The old Division Four ones had only a few pages of thin paper and a picture of the Dock Tower on the front. I suppose most people threw them out which is why they're so expensive now.

It's only the ones from pre 1950,'s  that have any real value.

Not so. It's true in a lot of cases but there are still very collectable Town programmes from the 1960s. The 65-6 West Ham League Cup tie at BP is usually good for £20 plus. The 62-3 Chelsea Division 2 home programme about the same amount. The 4 page friendlies vs the likes of Bishop Auckland can often fetch £10 or more, but the real gems are the single sheet friendlies from the early 70s against the likes of Bolton. These were printEd at BP, on the day of the game probably on one of the old Gestetner machines, and these can go for really silly money if they ever turn up. I've seen the Bolton one go for over £50.

The old 4 page reserve programmes, and youths as well are often very collectable because there won't have been many of them, hence their scarcity now some 50 years after the event.

I must be one of them nerds, I have a big collection of GTFC memorabilia, mainly after the older programmes now, quite expensive.

I also have a least one copy of every FA cup final from 1948 to 2013 programmes some of the early ones I have match tickets and song sheets, missing 1953, 1965 and the 1993 replay.

A few England programmes and tickets mainly 1947- 1965

Told the kids not to chuck away, as its an investment for them in years to come. beats saving in a bank and more interesting as well.
