Did Groves actually have the squad number 11? I know he used to wear it prior to squad numbers but not sure if he had it as a squad number.

From that list though, Cooke.

Groves will come in as 22, he is literally twice the player of the 11s I know, but you have to pick an 11

He was 11, 4 and 22 in his last three seasons. Unfortunately, in my database, I only keep the last squad number. Hence the fact he's not on this list.If we carry on to 22 he'll appear then. Mark Lever has a similar issue I think.

Stupid? Yes I know it is but so is picking Groves when he's not even on the list

Groves has to be in the first 11 though

Looking at the list you’ve compiled Rob there are serious grounds for retiring the number 11.

The sequence will continue to 22, so we have a full squad. When was the last time we had a best 11 numbered 1-11?

Coldicott I guess from this list. Bit of dross for the most part in there lol.

Coldicott was one of those players who was never standing out or flashy but what he did on the pitch breaking up play and getting to second balls he was very effective at. I feel like after he was gone from the team our midfield became a lot  more unstable

Silly system going by numbers if there isn't room for THE single most valuable player for Town of the past 3 decades.

Can we just play with 10 men?

Bobby Cumming  I know not on the list but still better than all of those choices even if he is 60.

Nope, Lever's only squad number was 15.

Michael Coulson has been ruled out for this reason though I guess. I pick Coldicott, by default really.

Groves of course. No debate.
Not sure this system is up to much. Are we really continuing to number 22?

Ok, on this basis - Scott Nielson.

He was unplayable at times in that Wrexham game near Christmas one year that sent us top. 2012 or 2013?

Groves ???

Could we replace R.Smith with Lever when it’s done ? Can’t remember having the option to vote for him.

Can’t even give you one of those, Stace maybe ? But you wouldn’t have him over Grovesy

Never forgived him for that high five when he got sent off against Gateshead

Terrible list of number 11s that! Although he would never normally get near anyone’s ‘best team of all time’ Stacey Coldicott gets by default for me.

Morgan Cranley signed at the same time as Nathan Wide, Lloyd Spank and Nat West.

If Groves wore 11, which it seems he did, then it has to be Groves. Pointless selecting any of the others.

And on his debut against Luton (I think?).

He truly was a joy to watch at times but his heart was never in it.  Probably backed up by the fact he wasn't exactly quiet about the fact that football didn't do it for him and it was just a job.

I never felt we really got the best out of him, bit wasted out on the wing for my liking and would have had more impact in a free role, which he more or less drifted into anyway.  I imagine he was very frustrating to play with as he had no positional discipline nor any real appetite to get back and help his defender out.

Definitely a player that you wonder just how high he could have played had he really wanted it.
