Sat on a balcony in Mexico with eff all else to do than watch the tailend of Hurricane Bud, I was thinking that we ought to have a chant for the gaffer. Now, music isn't a strength of mine so all I could think of was to plagiarise Man City's version of "Glad All Over"

Over to you guys!

We've got Jolley
Michael jolley
I just don't think you understand
He's Fenty's man
He's better than Zidane*
We've got Michael Jolley

*now that zidane is a European cup retaining manager this line is still appropriate!

Anyway I just really liked this chant for Podge so would be great to see it resurrected, and it actually seems to fit pretty well.  8)

Michael Jolley doesn’t.

Always love the Blaydon Races rip-off.  I'm told it was big under McMenemy, and remember singing it with "Buckley's Aces", but haven't heard it much recently.

I've had a long think about the Michael Jolley song, played around with some rhymes and looked at some songs.  I also thought back to what have been the really good crowd songs and then I thought about that great away day at Orient with our Eendracht Aalst friends and how good some of the Oasis songs were, with the whole town section joining in and belting them out. Sooooo:

So what's the matter with you?
Sing me something new
Don't ya know,
the cold and wind and rain don't know
They only seem, to come and go awaaaaaaayyyy:

MichaelJolleeee
Jolley Knows
The way it's gonna be!

to "Stand by me" by Oasis.

Fits into short and long forms and isn't a rip-off of another club's song.  Also plenty of Town fans in their 20s-50s will know enough of the words and tune to be able to carry it.

Good effort that. Be great to get another song that other clubs aren’t using like the Bogle one.
Always find it a little cringey that we just rehash whatever is popular with the big prem teams.

The Bogle one was part of the motivation too; that really took off.  I remember when we won at Luton, I went with a Luton-supporting mate and he was texting during the game to say how everyone in their end loved the Bogle song!

I reckon the Oasis one could take off, but might need Stand by Me to be played before kickoff at BP a few times to get it spreading.  Then there'll be an away game where there's a critical mass of fans singing it, at just the right point of the game, for it to catch.

I'm pretty sure i can pinpoint exactly when we stopped singing it regularly, it was ALWAYS a mainstay, but when we appointed Scott & Hurst it didn't fit in to the tune.....i remember people trying to mumble through that bit, and then it turned into 'Grimsby Aces' which just isn't as good...eventually everyone just stopped singing it.

Let's bring it back!

This would be easier if we occasionally played in white shorts with the black and white shirts, but we don't have any white shorts and socks in any of the kits, and the modern trend is for ANY type of clash to lead to a whole different kit being worn.  Away at Morecambe, Cambridge, Lincoln would all be candidates for us to go full-Juve.
