Matt Dean on Twitter;

Hearing #gtfc have signed #Lincoln City midfielder Elliott Whitehouse.

I’m told the 24-year-old has rejected a deal to stay at the #Imps in favour of a two-year deal at Blundell Park.

More on @RadioHumberside 1.06pm

Edit: now confirmed, 2 year deal. Welcome Elliott! UTM

If true, good signing. I think he scored their wembley winner

Good age, but remain to be convinced. I would suggest Summerfield has turned down a new deal??

Not necessarily, I would have thought we needed an additional midfielder if Summerfield goes..

He did.

Giving an honest opinion, he is liked at Lincoln for his endeavour and ability to get into goal scoring positions. Quite strong and will always give 100%. Didn't get much game time early on last season but the longer it went on and with a few injuries he got more established. First touch lets him down and certainly not that gifted as a player but a decent signing IMO. No doubt be better for him financially two years over one year here.

Before the imps come on here telling us he's very limited/shiite/not good enough for them/feckin shiite and theyre glad to be rid ETC. ETC.  here's a link to the forum comments on him. pretty overwhelmingly positive i'd say.....

Full of energy which fits into Jolley mantra so far.

I see the gimp suggest he only started to get game time in the second half of the season due to injuries but wasn't the 2nd part of season when they started to climb the table and advance in the no interest trophy?

Got some very bitter and weird people on the Imps forum:
"He will go straight into that awful Grimsby side and look pretty good comparatively, but whether the manager who replaces Jolley in October will pick him is another question."

You've got to laugh. Saint Danny is the best thing since sliced bread apparently but was still way behind us in the form table at the end of the season despite the huge head start he had on MJ. Plus Jolley isn't a cunt.

If you look at his stats for last season you will see he didn't play as much early on, but then held his place when he got into the team.

Yes he did well when it was the second part of the season, he got MOTM at Wembley. I already said he was a decent signing for you, jeez.

Fair enough, rose tinted glasses and all that, but Lincoln fans calling another team awful is a right laugh. They are directness personified, coupled with the niggly gamesmanship, and a manager who is a classless bumhole.

Welcome Elliott.

If he's similar to the last Imps midfielder we signed, Jon Nolan, we could be in for a rare treat?

Even though they're superior to us in every single way, the Lincoln fans on that forum still seem a little obsessed with little old us don't they?

Another positive signing, young and full of energy which fits in with what Jolley is working towards.

Exactly!

No idea if Whitehouse will be any good but looking at Twitter you would think he was joining NDLB 2's rather than a team in the same league.

Described by many as lacking 'technical ability'. How would a Lincoln fan know what that is? :P

Agreed. Every man and his dog knows that their keeper will go down injured around the hour so that the players can all run over and get instructions from Cowley, happens without fail. Plus the nation saw what they're like as a team at Wembley when Rhead assaulted Henderson. The irony being that Cowley was bleating to the media a few weeks later that he doesn't get protected. I want us to be competitive but would I want us to stoop to the levels they do? No, never.

Plus, despite us having one of our worst seasons in living memory I daresay we played more football against Notts than they managed all season. Would rather watch paint dry than watch them every week. Hoooooof.

Regardless of what the Imps opinion of him was ,or now is, because he has moved to us we should concentrate on one thing only ;

Surely he will be an improvement on Berrett ...therefore we are a stronger in that dept.

Yeah, fair point, but we played some really good stuff toward the end of the season. Totally outplayed Notts for instance and maybe their judgement is swayed by our poor showing at SB. Doesn't make Lincoln an attractive side to watch though, and even their most ardent fans must see that they are hardly attractive to watch. Mind you, most have only seen them under the Cowley era, so probably think that is proper football.

Yet another young gun joins the mighty GTFC ranks, hope Elliot settles and has 2 years of great football playing in front of real and not plastic gimps...
Welcome to the family Master Whitehouse.....

P.S.....bet mothercare have a close eye on us now though...
PPS.....so happy that MJ has significantly reduced the squads average age, but I must admit I am a little concerned that as it stands we do lack a few older heads with pedigree and experience....not that I'm one to complain, be loud, be proud, be GTFC!!!

I don't think he was on a huge wage at Lincoln, we signed him whilst we were in the NL from Nuneaton. As for the paper/journalism, they are all littered with spelling and general errors for the online paper clickbait places. Not sure why he would make that up if it wasn't correct though.

Once he came to GTFC - who played far more football and quite a bit through the middle - he was quality

I was on the pitch taking photos of my grandson who was mascot for the day. when I was leaving the pitch Whitehouse was sat on the bench next to Rhead. I said "Still on the bench to Rhead , Whitehouse replied with a witty comment. I am sorry if he thought I meant him, it was targeted at Rhead.
Anyway welcome to Grimsby.

Wasn't it a Lincolnshire Echo journalist who put a story out every five minutes a few years back just for click-bait purposes?  His specialty pieces were either ignoring the league table and stating Lincoln were actually the better side or insisting that Craig Disley was heading down the A46 every other week to Sincil Bank.

We don't know what wages Whitehouse was on at Lincoln so it could be that we have doubled a relatively modest wage.   It's trying to suggest we've broke the bank for him but I'll be amazed if Jolley is going anywhere near that route.

The whole article smacks of poor taste and very poor journalism.

Seems like a very positive signing and a player who will run through brick walls for the team.

One question.... What sort of misfielder is he? A summerfield type workhorse/water carrier who will mop up things from the back and out the tackles in or more of a Jon Nolan type, working with a bit of freedom behind the strikers and creating chances?

Spoken to my Lincoln supporting mate and he is not happy. Firstly that he is joining us (he rates him), but secondly due to who has left Lincoln so far he thinks they are going to play even more direct next season, which will be a feat in itself.

Says he is a terrier, complete 100% player, gets himself in good positions (although needs to improve his finishing), but is also like a rat as he’s always biting at the ankles of the opposition never letting them settle. Sounds like the kind of midfielder we have been missing for a while. Positive signing from my point of view.

Theres a common thread running through MJ's signings. They all give 100% That always trumps skill in my book. Accrington Stanley are the model club for this. It may not be enough in L1 but it will get us in the top half next season if all the players are in the same mould. Just need to have enough goals from the strikers and im forcasting a good season.

We need goals from every position this season if we are to put any sort of challenge in. Unless we pluck a young ppromising striker from non league who can cut it in L2 not enough goals could be our archillies heel.

Does Elliot live in the Lincoln area? MJ's plan of signing players who are local or must move here seems to be continuing if he does

Perhaps that is why he is giving out 2 year deals instead of 1 plus a 1 year option.

Thats quite a statement from Cowley. If determination and commitment can get you there then Elliot will make it with us. Can't see many games next season where the fans will say the players didn't put the effort in.

Every fan loves a trier. Most people watching either dream or dreamed of playing football for their team.

Not even played a game for us but he could be the nearest we've got to replacing Pouton in the middle of the park. Great to see MJ is addressing the lack of goals from the middle of the park.

I don't blame him taking a better and longer contract than we offered him, same with Farman, and Long too - (Whose going to Cheltenham) - They didn't get the amount of game time that they wanted and were all good squad players.
