Disley, but could have been any of Bolland, Campbell or Smith, enjoyed them all...

I think Bolland was the best during that one season before he was crocked but for me it would have to be Disley for length of service and consistency. He did well considering his legs had gone, according to some!

For me, I remember Campbell as being the first invisible man. Plenty of ability but with a penchant to completely disappear from games. We've seen many more like this since then, of course.

Shame on you for putting Disley and Jarman in the same list!

Itโ€™s Jarman every day of the week!!

Bolland was a excellent player and it was a great shame that injury blighted his time here but from that list it has to be Disley.

I don't think many players of the past 10 years will make this team but Diz is an exception.

I loved Bolland and he was a great player, but Disley has to be my choice for what he did over many seasons. One of the few positives from our non league years.

Ginger Pirlo.  :)

Disley. I started watching Town in 1996 as a six year old  but he is the first Town legend who I have been old enough to watch and properly appreciate. If any Town captain has half enough heart for the job as he did weโ€™ll do alright with them.

If I had to choose any player in their prime then David Smith for me, played 5-years solid in what is now the Premiership with Coventry and a season with us in Division Two (promoted) and Division One for a full two years.

He didn't score many goals, but that one on his debut I will never forget just over the half way line on the wing I think, also the one when we demolished West Brom 5โ€“1 his old club.

Im not happy with this list.  I asked a question about what the conditions are for a player to be selected and got red crossed.  Wheres Paul Groves, Gilbert, Childs and Futch.  Am i  missing something? Is this based on a certain period?
Posted by: Meza, June 10, 2018, 10:26am; Reply: 36
Ok so its from the ladt 20 years but not having Paul Groves in that list is criminal.
Posted by: blundellpork, June 10, 2018, 10:28am; Reply: 37
Itโ€™s only players from the The Fishy era, which started c20 years ago.

Groves used to wear number 11.

He never wore 8 though.

8 was the wide left midfield number under Buckley.

Think he wore 4 towards the end under Lennie and then as Player Manager when he'd moved to centre back.

For more than just footballing reasons Iโ€™d say Disley, Smith probably the more accomplished player but Iโ€™ll never forget Craig choking up whilst being interviewed on the telly!

Grovesie was number 11 for a lot if his time here. Took up the number 4 shirt when he became a makeshift centre half toward the end

Tough one. Head says Smudger. heart says Dizzer.

As it's about the best team, I'd have to say Smith in the end. That unspectacular competence would be like pure class in our teams of the past decade.

Diz was lower league player and therefore not as good, plus his legs had gone by the time he got to us

Bolland was great for one season and Campbell was alright at a far higher level but I canโ€™t see past Craig Disley on this one.

I canโ€™t think of anyone from the last ten years other than him who might be in this team.
