Re: Gunning hated playing for Grimsby
Postby Chrisgump11 » Sun May 06, 2018 8:24 am

My post before yesterday's debacle. Truest words wot I have wrote:

"Well, tongue in cheek or otherwise, not sure Gavin was wise to have professed his 'hate'. Things have a nasty habit of coming back to bite you. Gavin is capable of putting in good performances and his midfield role has been a bonus. But he's also made lots of mistakes in still our porous defence. Has some way to go yet I think"

So who was the most stupid or ill advised? A player who makes as many mistakes as he does good things, with everything yet to prove, who mouths off in hate? Or maybe the PR person who encouraged him to come out with this tripe and headline? Both biters well and truly chomped and deservedly so.

Which leaves the open question, is Gavin worth retaining? When you claim the spotlight then turn in that sort of performance, makes it hard to justify

Either way shameful stuff that cried for comeuppance and got it in spades.

My comments is !  Gavin, better to keep you mouth shut & be thought a fool, rather than open it & be proved one.

Winding up and motivating our players for yesterday's game with his comments is probably the best contribution he ever made to our cause.

Can't recall too many when he played for us,

I think a weirdo like Gunning suits a club run by a rich weirdo.

He rallied our players to the cause, 'hated' playing for Grimsby, but our players don't seem to agree with that sentiment  ;)

I think the original post from the FGR fan makes the salient point well. If I was Gunning I'd be embarrassed really. If I was sentient I would anyway. Good luck with getting a contract there anyway Gavin Gunning.  ;) ;D

I doubt he feels anything to be honest, clearly he’s a very self absorbed person, his psychopathic tendencies prevent him from feeling emotion.

Gunning will end up being a non-league player... if he's lucky.

I remember him saying that when he was younger he was rated as highly as Phil Jones when they were both at Blackburn.

If he ever had it in him back then, he certainly ain't got it in him now.

It's always sad to witness the demise of any footballer but this one seems to have been brought on by Gavin Gunning himself. Not sure he's got anyone else to blame.

I think I read it on the other thread about Mad Gav, it says more about him than it does GTFC.
Plenty of players seem to love it here.  Take Diz for example, no connection to the club other than as a player but you'd think he was born and raised here.
