Looked in on their board in the week and was gobsmacked at the confidence they had in staying up. Not so much in their own team, Allen has them running through walls for him now, but the Morecambe factor. A dull, dull team but experts at getting the draw. Not a bit surprised they managed it today.

Barnet drop, Akinde probably on his way, Barnet's penalty count will be interesting next season ::)

Fought well but they were the second worse team this season and deserve to go down. I dont doubt they will be back fairly quickly. They adapt well

I've nothing against Barnet but I'm glad Morecambe survived. Jim Bentley has done a remarkable job on crowds regularly under 1,000.

Away from the JJ Hooper hat trick Barnet getting relegated made me smile, I hate "mockenays" heads far too far up their @rses.

Nothing personal for me as we enjoyed a day out in London but I’d rather them go down than Morcame as they’d have been more of a threat next season.
To be honest I wish Morcame had gone down too instead of Chesterfield , the Spirites are a proper club that bring more than 30 fans to our place

I know where I’d rather go on an away day next season . I’ll miss those 2 pint glasses at Barnet. No way I’ll be going to that excrement hole morecambe and I’ve never been there

You have to admire that defensive grit and quality, seems they worked their socks off today. Roche in goal pulled off 2 or 3 super saves, just as Macca has been doing for us, and as we know from that you can go on to get something from the game.

Depends, when you read minority fan posts like this it makes you feel glad they went down >> http://www.thecfss.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=57687&st=0&p=1213027&#entry1213027

This was regarding the Jon Nolan transfer, around a week after we had been promoted to League Two and Chesterfield were still a League One club.

someone on Barnets forum bleating that the fa should deduct points for playing out a draw, wonder if its the same sharp object who wanted the fa to step in about our peno at  Swindon, what a tosspot, bye bye Barnet,UTFM

Take away that penalty, and the 2 points it earnt. Feeling generous so let's take away Rose's other late, late penalty and the 2 points that it earnt.
That puts Town on 47 pts, and yet Barnet finished with 46. Still down,
Bleat all they like, they've been poor for quite some time and got what they deserve.

have to say it was a fantastic effort by them to take it to the wire. But they were so far adrift when Allen took over that they needed all of that, plus other teams, including us, to implode.

And of course they were not the only relegation threatened team to appoint a new manager and have a fantastic run in to the end of the season!   :)

Wonder what he would have moaned about if Morecambe had won 1-0.

There's 46 games to the season, it doesn't just start when Martin Allen arrives. Not enough points means down you go. Same for everyone.

Lots of mutterings about the way Coventry and Morecombe managed to play out a goalless draw when they both needed a point for different reasons. How convenient.

Morecambe average attendance 1492 don't deserve to be in this division, but Barnet on 1957 are second worse. There are better-supported clubs in the division below, I expect Morecambe will be joining them before long.

About time 👍🏻😂😂

If you look at the Coventry v. Morecombe 0-0 then you will have to look at every game in the division apart from Gillingham v. Plymouth . Maybe someone had a massive bet on one goal being scored in the whole division . Sorry Barnet for you the game is over

Absolutely delighted - had a nasty experience at Barnet with one of their stewards. twit!

They can get back to bigger priorities now. Like defending their stewards from inflatable sharks

Cobblers, your numbers are once again flawed as you have not taken into account the density of population I their catchment.

The table never lies!!!

It isn't us, and that's all that matters to me.

Yup. Didn't really matter to me either.

Who do people want to go up in the play offs? I'd probably favour Wycombe, as the other three are probably more attractive games next season.

Wycombe got an automatic spot Phil.

Yeah but don’t Wycombe have an unfair advantage in these playoffs?

My mistake - I meant Exeter.
Posted by: AdamHaddock, May 5, 2018, 11:03pm; Reply: 26
Wycombe went up automatically

Play-offs are Exeter, Notts, Coventry and Imps.

No preference out of those although being in a lower division than Lincoln again would grate on me

Anyone but Lincoln :)

Notts county, Coventry and Lincoln are all attractive games next season and good away days. Not sure which of the 4 is actually the best team.

Agreed.......I fancy us to finish above Lincoln next season when they don't go up.

I think Lincoln may well prevail. Cowley is good at one off games/cup ties etc.

To be fair, if the clip they just showed on The Goal Rush is anything to go by, they might actually have a case.

Back in 2004, during the Euro Champs, I was at the game where Denmark drew 2-2 with Sweden to send them both through and put Italy out of the competition. I think that was just about the only result which would have knocked the Eyeties out so naturally, they called foul. However, at the game, it was certainly a full-blooded affair with both teams looking to win for most of the game and it was only when the equaliser went in that both teams thought better of it and sat back while tapping the ball around at the back. If you saw the reports back then, I'm sure many would note that the result was a foregone conclusion but, as a neutral at the fame, that certainly wasn't the case. Quite possibly similar with Morecambe today.

Yeah, at the end of a game like that it's only natural both teams will sit on what they've got. I remember Huddersfield and someone else doing it to stay up a few seasons back when Peterborough went down. It was hardly Germany v Austria in 1982!

That clip out of context did look very dodgy, but then when you watch the full highlights Morecambe's keeper kept them in the game (and the league)

Barnet fans are probably feeling a bit flat due to their expectation - as would most of us expected - of Coventry rolling over Morecambe on the last day.

Any other time of the season and Coventry would give Morecambe a proper thumping, putting 4 or 5 past them without breaking sweat.

It was almost a miraculous escape.  If they had got Allen in earlier they would've stayed up: his record is pretty remarkable having won 5 out of the 8 games.

Fortunately for us MJ had a similar positive effect on our fortunes and the rest is history...

Yeah, they were fantastic against us in the 2nd leg at Braintree weren't they?

Is someone had told us ten games ago that we would need 47 points to stay up I think we would all have given it up as a mission impossible.

From where we were in March, to end up with 51 points is incredible.

I keep thinking I am going to wake up and find the last two months were just a dream........
