Better off having some balls and investigating what idiot thought playing a match at that time and date vs Sheff U was a good idea?

There were a lot more Sheffield fans arrested but the Telegraph only seem to report on Grimsby fans court cases.
Yes the Town contingent joined in the trouble but it was the yorkies that caused more of the trouble due to the sheer number of them.

There was nothing wrong with the time or the date , the problem was that the police tried to police it on the cheap.
Anyone could have told you that they needed a full police presense at the game and in Cleethopres before and after the game , well anyone except our local police force.
They never had control all day and was chasing shadows

I have just read the second day`s coverage and have to say this all seems heavily biased against the GY supporters involved? Today`s headline started off with first Sheffield fans sentenced and once again the majority are actually from GY.Then reading the 10 major incidents from the day it appears in these only two fans appear to have been actually assaulted despite 30 being on trial. In reality 2k boisterous Sheff U fans turned up at a local seaside resort to watch a match and amongst their ranks were a few hundred looking for trouble and to set the record straight from when a similar number of GY fans stopped in Sheffield enroute to Alfreton and acted a bit anti socially.Had the game been played 7.45pm on the Friday night a lot less problems would have occurred. The local rag seem intent on demonizing our fans at every given opportunity it`s like they have a hidden agenda?

Just to play the devil's advocate, is it not possible to be both a fan and a hooligan?

Categorically YES it always amazes me when hooligans are accused of not being proper fans yet if you had a quiz on there team they would get just as many correct answers as a STH.

Just looked at the Telegraph site and the first name I notice is the bloke who went on to the pitch at Burton and confronted Colgan... some folk just don't learn

Gotta say i feel a bit sorry for this fella on the face of it...

"Lee Lewellyn, 31, of Sheffield, admitted affray "

the account includes ...he was pushed back by police, he got bitten by a police dog, & had to attend hospital as a result ....

he gets convicted for ...gesticulating, chanting, shouting and punching the air... 160 hours unpaid community work !!!!!   Fluff me.

I'm bemused with the Telegraph reporting of this as like others have said they seem desperate to put the knife in anything negative to do with the club. The bits I've read were no more than handbags yet so much worse is committed in Town virtually daily yet barely gets a mention.

Genuine question.....what clubs so called fans attacked that lone Town fan in his forties I think on the seafront way to/from the ground ?

Nobody is saying it`s right and the attack you have highlighted is everything that`s wrong with these people when they feel justified in piling in on a bloke because he supports a different team. However that doesn`t excuse the telegraph basically glorifying with standout headlines what it describes as a day of mayhem with hundreds of blokes looking for aggro and 30 people in the dock.In reality actually it amounted to 2 serious assaults a bloke squirting some Vimto at a copper and a couple of people being bitten for acting like tools and it`s taken nearly two years to get them in court :-/

I will bet you not a single Fri or Sat night in the past 25 years will have passed with less than two serious assaults in the Clps/Gy area and the reason for that when you get hundreds or thousands of people drinking you always get an handful who can`t handle it and start trouble acting the tool.

So it is OK for a professional football club to organise a fixture that anyone with half a brain knows will bring together all the clowns and idiots from both clubs in a seaside resort on a family weekend and to expect Johnny Taxpayer to police it? Then to blame them for insufficient resources!

Sorry, I just find that an incredibly selfish statement.

Further to this Hull played Scunny on the same day so that`s a massive amount of Police resource taken up by football.

But 'arry, the North Vietnamese Army uniform isn't exactly flattering and is a bit of a specialist interest.
