That roar when Matts goal went in, Brilliant!!

Absolutely ridiculous 'highlights' there. Not even a glimpse at Woolford's chances just before half-time which were just about the best chances of the game!

THAT save from Macca?!?!?
Posted by: Maringer, April 28, 2018, 11:58pm; Reply: 4
We got to see their player head a few yards wide in the first half but no note of McKeown's save or the volley Rose missed either. Or the goalline clearances from Davies, for that matter!

It's 1 am I the morning, just downed another malt whiskey, and watched the second goal for  the tenth or eleventh time.........might go to bed now.

I am happy.

What highs and lows within three minutes. Only Town can do this.

If Carlsberg did relegation escapes........

Was that Matt goal better than Arnold's at Wembley?
Posted by: Mrs Doyle, April 29, 2018, 4:40am; Reply: 8
It was more significant.

We were already winning that game just running the clock down when Arnold scored at the death.

Matts goal we were drawing one all they scored totally against the run of play Barnet had scored so potentially we were looking at a horrible situation.

That he did score in the final seconds was sweet justice for our 90 minutes of commitment.

Would rather have seen that than his moment of madness for their goal

Posted by: RoboCod, April 29, 2018, 10:36am; Reply: 10
Would have been worth playing Perfect Day at the end of the game just to see Swin jump from his seat and shout...What? That was FAR from perfect, I counted at least 3 basic schoolboy errors at the back and Macca WTF?! Never mind that Save of the Season nonsense, that was utter madness from you for their equaliser..

before being handed a paper back to breathe into.(bash)

You don't think it was madness then?

Posted by: RoboCod, April 29, 2018, 11:44am; Reply: 12
Was it 'madness' or was it a single error of judgement? When Hooper missed the goal completely from a penalty a few weeks back, was that madness? Or just mis-judgement?

I will put the entire catalogue of the umpteen, dozens and dozens of chances spurred by our forward line over the course of the seaon way before Macca's one error as, unlike the strike force over the season he actually made amends for it twofold.

Yeah, that's what i meant. The Arnold goal was fantastic, but it didn't affect the result, just made it more certain. Matt's goal definitely won the game in the dying minutes and stopped us from going back to that hell hole, from which we may not have escaped for a long time.

As for the Macca mistake, even the best keepers make them, in much more high profile games than that one. He has saved us more points than he has lost us and is a significant part of us staying up.

Macca has shown he is Grimsby through and through ok he made an error of judgment but that breathtaking save earlier was top drawer. His form has been brilliant under Jolley penalty saves the lot.

Is Macca a former 100 Meters sprinter?? At 9:15 on the video he slides in from stage right, just how quickly did he cover the length of the pitch? ;D

I remember at the time seeing him there and thinking how the F did he get there so fast?

The scenes of celebration of the goal are a joy to behold. It really shows what it meant to the players. It seems hard to believe that two months ago we though they couldn't give a stuff.

Just like the Arnold goal at Wembley I can watch Matt's goal again and again and again, and have done! And will do!

Still hard to believe it really happened the way it did. A 90th minute equaliser and a 93rd minute winner!

Who writes these scripts?

The commentator obviously hadn't worked out the permutations correctly when he said that "a point would be okay for the home side" just before the corner that Matt scored the winner from.

I know what he means though. A point would have meant only one more needed from the vegemite 11.

In those terrible three minutes between the goals I was consoling myself by thinking that most us would have taken a point before the game and that, with Morecambe having to go to Coventry next week, 46 points would probably be enough to stay up anyway.

Thankfully none of that matters now!

Their keeper made a great one-handed save in the second half that those highlights didn't include, and they've also left out Mitch Rose's chance that he lifted over the bar.

I'd like the club to upload match highlights from the GTFC video crew because I know they're still there recording the games. Would be great to hear John Moore's commentary of the game!

Simply magnificent. That will go in my favourites to watch again and again, along with the play off win 2 years ago.

Those highlights made it look a bit one sided for Notts in the second half, but it wasn't. As stated above, there was some good stuff by us not included there. Although to be fair, the commentator said we were the best team from the start.

Who was the commentator? Could he have sounded any less interested or animated? His commentary of the goals was the same pitch and tone as it was for a throw in or a sidewards pass!

Very poor! Where's John these days?

The highlights from sky are recorded over I think. I like the style of the old highlights better.

What I also liked was their player running back with the ball after they scored.  He clearly thought that they could still get a late winner.  Very good of him to give us more time for our late winner.  ;D ;D

Worth a bump I think!

I notice that when Clarke scored all nine other outfield players were surrounding him in the celebrations! For the second I think all 11 were involved in the celebrations.

Proper team spirit that.

Well i had to watch it again, just to be sure.

Seeing those highlights with a bit more perspective now, our fears about Boyeson being anti GTFC were put to bed. There was two or three penalty shouts for Notts in that game, all waved away.

I want to know why they stopped including full game recordings for people with a paid subscription. Now the only thing you get when you pay is the live commentary unless you live abroad so it's really not worth it. You get highlights half a day earlier and one or two exclusive interviews but that's hardly a reason to pay. They need to bring back game recordings and include John Moore commentary. If they did that I'd actually pay for a subscription so I can enjoy watching games again.

One of them was a pretty good shout too. A lot more than the last penalty we were given  ;D

Funny you use the word proper as it’s been going through my mind a lot since Saturday

Proper traditional football ground
Proper supporters
Proper home performance playing proper football and as you say, proper team spirit
Proper manager
Proper celebration even though it was only for avoiding an awful fate

Proper proud to be GTFC

You can get the full game recording (no commentary) via the app, but it's well hidden. You need to click on results at the bottom of the home page, then you'll see links to the full recordings.

Correct, I assume the commentator is just sat in a room somewhere dubbing the commentary sometime after the game.

The GTFC Video crew still cover the games and I assume it is their coverage that appears on the big screen and in the bars during the game probably because there may be issues with rights to the Sky coverage also I assume no one at the club has to edit the highlights any more as they are now provided by a third party.

There were two penalty shouts in front of the pontoon - one where Rose (I think) nicked the ball away from the blind side, which wasn't a pen, and another when one of their players completely scuffed his first touch out for a goal kick.

One of our defenders (Fox maybe) went sliding in, and from the camera angle it looks dodgy, but I was sat in front of that challenge and it was definitely not a penalty.

The only shout that looked decent for them was the handball just before McKeown makes that incredible save.

Must admit, Boyeson had a very good game.
