Wow.

Given how much longer that is than Barton's ban, I wonder if he was backing the opposition in games he was playing in?

Friend of mine says its due to him telling a friend to put 1000 on him to get booked. No idea if thats true but if it is explains the length of the ban

Only got himself to blame! Rules clearly state about gambling

;D

Nice one Bradley, the alarm bells would never be raised by someone sticking four figures on a non league player being booked!

Looks from this he's been found guilty of match fixing.
Report: https://bit.ly/2F0bkF3

Quoted Text
The FA has charged Mr Wood with a total of 25 offences. Mr Wood has
contested the two charges of conduct contrary to FA Rule E1(b) – match
fixing offences. He has admitted the 22 charges of conduct contrary to
FA Rule E8(1)(a)(i) and the single charge of conduct contrary to FA Rule
E8(b) – betting offences.

Quoted Text
For the reasons explained below the Regulatory Commission concluded
that Mr Wood was guilty of the two charges that he had contested.

I was told that he put £3000 on himself to get booked for fouling Sanchez in the Arsenal FA Cup game. Again, could be complete drivel but would seem it centres around betting on himself to get booked.

I liked Bradely a lot as a player especially his dedication and effort to the cause.

Shame about this .Silly boy.

Deliberately got booked in the matches against Ipswich and Arsenal in Lincoln's FA Cup run last season and appeared to get friends to place large bets on it happening.

The people who placed those bets had no history of betting on the 'to be carded' market and their stakes were out of character based on their betting history. It's all in the report that's available to read on the FA link.

Footballers (and those that are employed by clubs) need to be sensible. They have short careers. There will be plenty of time to bet on sport once they're retired.

Sadly that's Bradley's career over with. Any football he plays once he's served his suspension will be in the lower non-league.

William Hill had NEVER had a bet that big on that market before!

Really, really stupid stuff there.

Such a pity as he was a decent enough player for us and for Lincoln.

Wow, what an absolutely brain dead moron!

I imagine the odds on Bradley Wood to get booked playing against Alexis Sanchez were possibly the shortest you would’ve got on anything that day!

Unless Bradders knew the outcome before xmas when i last spoke to him....he was retiring anyway.  Im definately sure he aint got 3000 to bet on himself.  He did tell me that the yellow he got from the Burnley game was because the Cowleys told him to go hard on the Burnley winger.

Anyway disappointed but he was sincere he had no idea h8s mates put a bet on him.

I know he is family Meza, but do you really believe he didn't know? There seems to be a lot of evidence to the contrary.

I imagine this sort of thing is rife in the lower leagues.

He’s obviously a moron for setting up these bets and drink driving (oh and driving while disqualified for drink driving!) but I reckon he probably pokes forks in plug sockets as well.

I read the FA notes and my thoughts are:

How likely is it that he and all his friends "wiped" their text messages/WhatsApp messages? If there was nothing to hide then someone would have been forthcoming.

I know that every bet over £30 on throw ins, yellow cards etc in play is investigated and I imagine the cap is relatively low before the game.

As for the 23 charges accepted, it has been well publicised that anyone working for a football club in ANY capacity at ANY level cannot bet on football globally. If the bets placed were for his father then he should have used his brain and got one of his associates to do it for him.

To compare to Joey Barton, he placed thousands of bets but they were for much smaller sums. Betting on yourself getting booked is easier to control than being first goalscorer in a match.

Bradley could have had a promising career but it seems his taste for alcohol and penchant for gambling has hampered that. His lack of attendance no doubt added to the ban and also clearly indicates his guilt.

That's a very good point. What is the point in having some of these bets that are so open to abuse? There's a quote on the BBC from a bookmaker saying they've never had a 4 figure sum on a yellow card before. In that case why do they bother with it?

Glad gambling isn't one of my vices because it's getting ridiculous in this country.

Well that's screwed his family over....again.

I'd be sad, but I remember his girlfriend coming on here telling us how much of a better deal he'd got elsewhere. So good luck to them.

Bloke was brain dead on the pitch and is obviously brain dead off the pitch. Cue  red  x's coz as he's from gy he was the greatest player never to have made it and was innocent of any charge against him

Well absolutely no sympathy from me at all, it's not like it's a one off occurrence, it was 25 times so he would have knew exactly what was happening, the fact is he broke the rules and he obviously thought he would get away with it, doing it once is a mistake, doing it 25 times means it was calculated and pre-meditated, 6 year ban is what he deserves, his football career over.

I liked Bradley when he played for us but what he has done is plain stupid,

In my mind he could have had a decent career that has gone out the window now,

Silly boy.

This is very sad. I do feel that the guy has clearly got problems and deserves sympathy. I hope he goes on and finds a better path away from football.
