Fantastic year to be town fan .

I was there 10 years old, I still think Wembley screwed up not keeping the twin towers.

Old Wembley it self was very run down but I was so previlged to go.

The players we had that day, Davison, Macca, Handyside, Lever, Gallimore, Donovan, Burnett, Groves and Black etc.

Kingsley Black got the 1st goal.

Sat and cried as they came out and it was the old (real) Wembley so a bit special

I don't think Grimsby have had a free kick specialist since Kingsley Black and he left 17 years ago.

Luckily at both , stayed at Wembley Hilton night before the first game and Covent Garden /Leicester square that night was like drinking in Cleethorpes. Ace times and over 50,000 fans to Wembley in less than a month shows what could be achieved.

A truly fantastic experience. Extra special because it was at the old Wembley.

I feel we were really blessed to see a golden goal winner. Not many clubs have seen that happen at Wembley. Shame they got rid of them. It was an amazing way to win a game!

I remember the first game against Bournemouth in the AWS. I said it didn't matter being a tinpot competition (remember we were a Championship side the years prior to this and even competing in the thing was a slap in the face. Sounds familiar? Yes the FA Trophy 15 years later was viewed in much the same light) and was just going to enjoy the day. After 5 minutes I realised I was as desperate for Town to win as if it were the World Cup Final. It was a fairy-tale ending, but it probably cost us automatic promotion!

The second game was hell. We were coasting and missed a pen, but they fought back and threw everything at us. It was before the minutes of injury time was shown and I think the ref played 7 and they had a string of corners with the score 1-0. But of course, we spent the last 5 minutes screaming for the ref to blow! I was so emotionally drained at the end I didn't really celebrate that we had just been promoted. Everyone else was hugging one another and I felt spent. Celebrations naturally took place as the evening progressed mind.

It was 6, or at least that's what the board said. Felt like 60. But where the bloody hell they got 6 from is still a mystery.

Arriving late in the build up to the Bournemouth game as I came through the entrance to the seating area I saw the massed ranks of Mariners fans sweeping round the curve to my right. A sea of black and white. I was bloody choked I can tell you.

I was sat behind the goal, so had a great view of the “Golden Goal”. Eddie Howe conceded the corner that led to the goal!

not ashamed to admit that tears where shed when my team ran out that day at the famous old stadium.

Great day. I was 14 and I was sat behind the goal, pretty much where Burnett ran into after he scored the golden goal. Unfortunately, my parents wouldn’t take me to the play off final so it was my only visit to the old Wembley.

I was there, but offshore for the play off final. Happy days, may they come again hopefully.

Yeah I also missed the play off final as we already had a trip booked that day to take the kids to Legoland.

I don't think it is that far from Wembley........I listened to it on the radio in Legoland with a couple of beers   :)

I was 22 and stayed the night before the game.
The West end was like little Grimsby that night , there must have been at least 10000 stay the night before and every pub you went in was full of drunken Town fans singing thier heads off.

I have a photo of us all on the top deck but have no idea of how to upload it.
I remember someone had hired some strippers to come to the Edmonton sports and social club early on the day of the game , a couple of hours before kick off the poilce came to ask us to make our way to the ground , One of the strippers was in a compromising position on the pool table with one of our lot when they walked in  ??)
