Michael Jolley told the telegraph he is pleased with the response from the said two after a lot of criticism from the fans,

Well done to both keep it up lads.

Did Hooper respond though? Still looked nothing other than lazy to me. Rose showed great character and composure to put the penalty away though.

We have had few weapons in our armoury this year and although the ball didn't drop for us in the once more against Chesterfield, Rose's  missile like throws might earn us a few vital goals in the last few games.  :)

I don't know but Jolley thought he put the effort in,

Yes he did, the front two ran their socks off and never stopped chasing.

I think Hooper looks short of confidence as much as lazy. Convinced there's something there and thought he contributed as everybody did on Saturday.

They did well last Saturday but across a season we need much better than they have offered.

Doesn't make up for the crap performces that have gone before.

Irrespective of which league we are in next season I don't want to be relying on the likes of them to either keep us in the League or get us back in.

We need  better quality players.

Yes but they were been coached by Slade,

They could turn into good players under Jolley,

Give them a chance they might surprise you,

Thanks. But it was nothing really. Criticism is something we excel in.  ;)

When you're badly managed your performance does tend to drop though. So whilst I'm no advocating retaining anyone in particular, had Jolley had the same players over the season I'm sure we wouldn't be bottom-feeding.

Was thinking the same Pete.

There's the odd Ginny round here though  ;)

I can't sit and forgive players after 1 win from a late penalty. I can support them until the end of the season and we stay up but some of the performances this season have been utterly unforgivable and one win (or even 4 until the end of the season) won't change my feelings on the majority of this squad.

Russell Slade didn't coach Hooper at Port Vale and the majority of their fans hated him.

Rose I always thought could be decent player, with the long throws thats another dimension to his game. Hooper did have a crap manager at Port Vale as well.

I don't give a excrement who his manager was there is no excuse for wandering around the pitch as if he doesn't give a toss which he has done in most of his games this season.

I would add that I believe he had at least 3 managers at Port Vale.

Jolley certainly seem to be dragging something extra out of them that unsurprisingly Slade couldn’t. Still we need much, much better if we want to be well clear next year, providing we stay up.

Rose is (joint with Jones on 6). Hooper has 3 (same as Matt and Collins)

I too think Hooper could be very good for us, think he needs a run of games and a goal or two to get some confidence.
I believe he does needs managing hard and a red hot poker up his bottom to keep him motivated though.

Ok we’ve won one game, why do we suddenly assume Jolley will keep them on next season?

from the extended highlights he looked a threat in that second half down the left hand side and i seem to remember the best stuff he did for port vale was when he was played in that position.
wonder if jolley might start him out left?

The crazy thing about Hooper is that although some may use him as an example of why we are where we are, he’s still yet to even reach double figures in league starts for us.

He’s started 9 and scored 3...not the worst return!

They both have a contract for next season.

Ah ok Pete, to be honest I’ve totally lost track of who’s contracted and who isn’t out of this shower.......

Was thinking that when you get a penalty in the 88th minute during a nil nil must win game, that we need a player with a laid back approach like Rose to handle the pressure and calmly slot it away until I remembered JJ's howler.
May be something in it though

As you can see from that, the only players contracted for next season are, Paul Dixon, Mitch Rose, Sam Kelly, Harry Cardwell and JJ Hooper.

I think it's fair to say that we will need a bit of a rebuild next season.  :)

I think if you have attended a couple of games this season you would have known that Les!

Les did not need to go to any games this season to know that Cloudy.

I'd rather be a haddock than a cod
Yes I would
If I could
I surely would

I'd like to squash the Scunts beneath my feet
Yes I would
If I could
I truly would
