Probably the worst two players I’ve witnessed in a Town shirt in last 20 years!!!
How these players earn a living from being professional footballers is a disgrace. It boils my blood to watch players like these pull on a shirts for us!!! Bereft of any footballing know how or skill of any kind. Even if they put the effort in you could forgive them for some of their failings, but to watch them perform how they did today when 5000 fans turn up wanting the team to give their all to make sure this great club survives in the football league and witness what effort they put in today is unforgivable!!!
If this is all we can offer there’s only one outcome!!!
Hopefully the teams below us somehow perform worse than what we can offer!!! But surely that’s impossible!!! UTM

Thought Hooper at least put a shift in. Rose struggled to get his massive bottom around the pitch and was blowing after 30 mins. Very unfit.

Hooper was fine if he had the ball, he just doesn't put the effort to get into the spaces he should be like when Rose put the ball across the front of the goal instead of shooting in the 2nd half, if Hooper had put a little effort in all he had to do was toe poke the ball into the net.

Both of them are NL level, I have thought all season that if was given a run in the side Hooper would be ok, however as we never play the same 2 strikers twice he’s got no chance.

Rose? He’s be ok if the game only lasted 45 minuets, amazed MJ didn’t replace him with McAlister in the 2nd half.

My personal opinion is that one of the biggest mistakes of recent years, was not giving Podge the contract his goalscoring deserved in the January of the promotion year. Although he and Omar were not that effective against the top teams, I am sure we would not be where we are now if he was in our team.

We offered him a deal who turned it down as he wanted to keep his options open

Absolute gash players but i would say near enough the whole squad is lacking any quality and even some likeability.

The whole thing is crap , we got a point today but get the feeling it wont be enough , i know some are singling out hooper and rose and rightly so but for me dembele has just either bottled it or he simply isnt the player we or he thought.

Cheers slenty.

We looked better when Vernon came on. He at least can bring others into the game around him. Not a coincidence that he’s played in the majority of the games we’ve won this season.

That's what we were saying, some moaned at the cross but Rose did very well to get the ball across it was just Hooper didn't appear arsed enough to get on the end of it.

I would add other than that cross I thought Rose was very poor and cannot see why Jolley keeps picking him.

I am not as satisfied as some with the point, having been unable to beat a side as nearly as poor as us I just cannot see us getting another win and still feel we are going down.

I would add that it hasn't taken long for MJ to start getting flustered being interviewed, I thought Dave Burns was spot on with his assessment of the second half, I thought we were crap with only a weak shot by Hooper near the end being our only shot on target in a really must win game.

Hooper didn’t challenge for one header today! So frustrating to watch. His movement is non existent.

On a side.... how did Wilks miss in the first half

We are going down but for full dramatic effect will wait until the last day before dropping in to the bottom 2.

We create next to zero and when we do we have no strikers. No goals means relegation. I think it is November when we last scored 2 goals in a game.

Agreed. Think FGR will relegate us just to make it even more sickening. It's the Town way.

Thought Hooper looked a lazy illegitimate. Neither he nor the other 'striker' whose name escapes me, were making themselves available for a ball into the box. Neither really troubled their defenders or put pressure on. I was never a fan of the Shop but at least he would have made a nuisance of himself.

Rose seemed to try in spells. There just weren't many of them.

Should have offered him a two year deal at the end of the season. Mind you, it matters not. Slade would have got shot of him in January.

If you get chance to watch the game back, please do. He won quite a few headers. Plenty early on in the game actually.

Maybe an example of someone's bias influencing what you see?

Thought Hooper and Wilks were ok today, except for them both continually going for the same ball. Hooper DID try for headers today and actually won a few. But the finishing from everyone was woeful.

Rose is just so slow in thought. He’s a constant ball-watcher and then he does something rash to make up for it. His ‘finish’ today summed up our winless run.

I agree about Hooper winning quite a few headers today, particularly 1st half, and a number he didn’t were because he was being climbed all over by the CB’s

I do agree that he doesn’t anticipate, or time runs in to the box well, but I think he should be persisted with looking at the hand we have, perhaps paired with Jackson when fit

Aren't they currently two of our top scorers?

And with Dembele playing today too we had our top marksmen out there  ;)

Really!? Did you actually go to the game as from where I was sitting, he challenged for, and subsequently won a lot of headers during the game, first half especially!

Really? I didn't listen to him get flustered for a second. I thought he dealt with Burnsy's challenging questions very, very well. The right questions to ask and very credible answers in my opinion.

Same here if anything he turned it around it was Burnsy who backed off.

Think there's a sound case for playing Vernon. He shows for the ball, holds the ball up, brings others into the game.
Clearly he is a player better suited to a passing game. Having a player like that actually encourages the team to pass it more, I believe.

The (fair, I think) criticism that he doesn't score goals is now looking a bit hollow. He won't be keeping Jimmy Goaldenboots out of the side.....

Hooper did OK alongside Wilks, I thought. In the first half in any case. We offered little up front after Wilks had to go off so he must have been doing something OK. On the other hand, after they rejigged their defence at half-time, it shut our attacking play down far too easily and it became too much hit and hope.

How much of this was because Rose did sweet F.A. in the second half, I'm not sure. I can only imagine he was left on because he has shown he can nick a goal here and there and is quite strong in the air, something which can't be said for our other midfield options.

Have to say, when you looked at the bench yesterday, you could see why we're in such dire straits at the moment - no attacking threat to bring on at all and, when Wilks departed, he was replaced by a young central midfielder with a handful of first team appearances. Are Jaiyesimi and Matt injured?

Name another midfield player who was good in the air and could nick the odd important goal but had infinity more heart and was an immeasurably better footballer than Rose!

I task everyone!

Hmmm..... the Ginger Pirlo, and he should have been retained for another season to give us a bit of the continuity we lack.

If we had the likes of Shaun & Dis I’d be much more confident of getting out of this.

BTW all this praise of Wilks I just don’t see it TBH

I'm by no means a big fan of Hooper but I have to say I thought he genuinely tried yesterday - he won a fair few headers, ran the channels, tried to close defenders down and made a decent chance for Wilks in the first half. It was a better centre forward display than we've seen from anyone else in a town shirt in the last month or so.

rose just wanders about, doesn't put himself about and is a lazy lazy player. I think thats the best town are going to give and for me its not staying up material, we battled hard but clearly not good enough.
