I saw in the latest Trust meeting minutes they are interested in possibly saving some cash by cancelling Sky in the bars (or at least asking members if they still wanted Sky). I'd prefer a selection of past GTFC games / highlights on in the background. Maybe have a particularly good game we had with that week's visiting team. The club must have a huge selection to choose from. Perhaps in the Away supporters' bar you could have the last time we beat them (although that might mean getting the VHS player out!)

BBC red button works ok for us paupers who don’t subscribe to sky . Only bad point is Garth crooks but he soon shuts up when Martin keown gives him the death stare

Would prefer town games to be shown, the last away game? Historic matches ? Does sky actually bring that many people in ?

I like going in and watching the early game before the Town game

Can't one bar show the past Grimsby town games and in the rest show present football. It would be easy to set up as I know dale landon has a copy of every game played by town for at least the last few years.

Showing recent games would certainly push up the takings.

It would drive anyone to drink.

Don’t know if I’m entitled to an opinion as. It will not effect me.
But barring something amazing, the crowds (at least initially) will be  considerably lower next season so I appreciate the Trust will be looking to lower overheads where possible with minimum impact
To me it’s a simple equation. Does the cost of Sky increase profit by the same or more.
Or to look at it another way. Will the loss JF Sky result in lower profits more than the cost. I doubt if it is draw for half time. It’s a case of how many it gets for the early match.  It’s never seemed that busy early doors on the odd occasion I’ve gone for an early match. But I don’t know what it costs.

They mention in the minutes it costs them £2,400 per season.

I think a business rate subscription for Sky is fairly expensive too so I like the idea of old re-runs of Town games!

If that is true you have to sell a lot of booze in a short space of time for the few weeks the bars are open. Surely The Trust can do the sums and act accordingly, if they are losing money on the deal then the choice is, ditch it or put prices up. Economics

He's supported Lincoln for 20 odd years but, never been to Grimsby, most of them haven't.

Probably couldn’t afford it. The cost of the police escort for the abnormally wide load trundling up the A46 would be enormous I would think.

BBC final score is better it starts before the games begins on the red button or channel 601.

If you can read, you don't need the sound on. Makes for easier conversation too!

The Lower Trust bar opens before gates open, how about doing a weekly q and a with an ex player? Get them in to tell some stories and mix with the crowd etc?

Yeah we could get Nathan Clarke in, though most of the questions would go over his head (I know you said ex-player but we can all wish....)
