A trifle hard of hearing? They test for that at Specsavers ref. ;D

Reminds me when playing in the local league in the 60's,

The ref was a workmate of one of the players,

The ref decided to book him when the player did a bad tackle,

The ref said , What's your name ?

The player said   Pele,

Ref said what's your real name ?

Player replied , you know my name I work with you every day,

So the ref did not book him.

He sent him off instead. ;D

That sounds like something Sid Cowley would have done. Or maybe Phil Evans. 😂

There was a Sunday League game.  One player had a bad hangover.  When the ref blew his whistle (loudly)  to start the game, the player was stood near to him.  He said "for fook sake ref"!

He was sent off for foul and abusive language (to a ref).
