I awarded Grimsby 3 wins in the "cup finals" and nothing in any other game. The rest I left to Lady Luck. It was enough to stay up but had we lost any of them we would have gone down. I suspect we're going to need to get at least something from some of the other games. The last game with VGR will probably be meaingless for them.

19     Port Vale     -16     49
20     Forest Green     -22     48
21     Crewe     -22     46
22     Grimsby     -28     45
23     Barnet     -22     42
24     Chesterfield     -41     34

If you say it quickly 3 wins seems easy enough! This highlights how tough it is going to be - 3 wins against teams that will be fighting for their lives and fancy their chances, with a nervous home crowd - I am coming out in a cold sweat thinking about it.

I hope Jolley can work miracles I really do.

Barnet v Chesterfield on the last day of the season could be a very interesting game for us. Let's hope our future doesn't rely on one of them winning or losing.

It's all got a feeling of inevitability about it. Last game of the season away to a side that had spent it's entire history outside of the football league. When did that last happen?  :-/

The fact that it is FGR just adds to the mix.

Grimsby’s Lady Luck is with Lord Lucan. Absolutely no chance that this shower will turn up to win 3 important games with one as soon as next week. We’re done for.

i cannot possibly see how we can win all 3 of those games, unless Jolley really is a miracle worker. We have such a gutless, spineless, talentless bunch of anonymous no-hopers filling most of our shirts that relegation seems all but assured.  :o

How we all laughed 2/3 months ago when we envisaged going to FGR on the last day and sending them down, it's looking like they could do that now.

I can only see us getting 3 more points (draws) this season unless Mr Jolly can shake up this shower of excrement.

According to Bet365 we only have a 15% chance of relegation. 11/2 seems very generous to me. What do others think?

They are obviously looking at it more objectively then we are because they have no vested interest other than making money. We are convinced we are going down, but they see a team who have more points on the board than those teams below us, so at this moment in time, the odds are slightly in our favour. The teams below us have to win their games in hand to draw level with us and there is no guarantee that they will, given their equally poor form.

The odds are dropping week by week at the moment, but if we were to win on Saturday, they would most likely go the other way. Odds only reflect what has happened to date and i don't get your reliance on their relevance. They know no more than we do what will happen.

I've just used the calculator again and this is what it predicts:-

19     Crewe     46     -20     47
20     Yeovil     46     -17     46
21     Morecambe     46     -20     43
22     Grimsby     46     -31     42
23     Chesterfield     46     -32     40
24     Barnet     46     -31     35

Personally I don't think any team will stay up on only 42 points, Chesterfield have been decimated by injuries, if and when they get all their key players back I can see them improving as they beat Swindon last week, and have also beaten Luton recently.....we have a huge squad that's much of a muchness, and unless Dembele returns to his early season form we're going to struggle to get the 9/10 points I think we're going to need. I think the 11/2 is a fair price, and even though I'm a regular gambler I couldn't back Town to be relegated.

This assumes that the rest of the season is going to be a continuance of 2018 so far.

Get a result against Vale, and the confidence will start to return. Can we also believe that Jolley has a skill in instilling motivation in others?

Who knows, we might even finish outside the bottom 6 - it's so tight in there.

Heads up and UTM

I know you love your betting odds and stuff, but a few weeks ago the bookies said it was almost impossible for us to go down.It doesn't mean a thing.

I prefer to see with my own eyes whats happening, and several weeks ago it was obvious to me we were in deep trouble.

Within a couple of games we could be in the bottom 2.

We have the one advantage of a possible new manager bounce; if that doesn't work we have had it.
