Big chance for our near neighbours and their fans to get a taste of what we've enjoyed so many times in our history. A trip to Wembley. Really hope they do it, A deserved reward for all those loyal Gimp fans who have stuck with their team through thick and thin. Those same fans who have values and support the future of lower league football by loyally supporting Harvey and the EFL..

C'mon Chelsea, break the Gimps hearts, get to the final and show how ridiculous this farce of a tournament is..

Yeovil and Fleetwood.

Edit: Yeovil and Fleetwood is a fourth round tie, so dunno.

Getting to Wembley is what most of the Lincoln fans have dreamed of ever since they started supporting them 12 months ago. Actually ridiculous that less than half of those fans there tonight were there the last time we played at sincil bank.

Its the lesser of 2 evils. The gimps, and there fake support. I feel for the loyal ones who in a way would deserve a trip to wembley, or support the u21’s who shouldnt be in the competition.  I’ll go for chelsea just purely because the gimps support? Is that the right word, have refused to boycott it

As sceptical as I've been about this competition it would be pretty hard to resist the lure of Chelsea U23's vs Fleetwood. Would really capture the public imagination that one!

I'm now watching Swansea City V Notts County but I did catch the first 15 mins of Lincoln and they was absolutely dominating Chelsea and it seemed a goal is inevitable eventually if not imminent.

Lincoln are a club on the up and we are a team on the down, they had an ambitious and progressive board and manager and we don't and if they get promoted this season which they could do, that would open up a massive gap between us, well done John and Co for allowing us to drop so far behind Scunthorpe and Lincoln.

1-1, hate to say it but it's turned into an excellent game. Ethan Ampadu and Hudson-Odoy look like players who we'll hear a hell of a lot about.

They took a gamble on the Cowleys it could have gone horribly wrong but clearly it hasn’t , but the way they’ve engaged the fans is something our club should be thinking why didn’t we do that. Instead were called twits and the cupping hand manager hated us apparently ... still think he was fortunate he got as long as he did never did we really challenge

I saw Ampadu for Chelsea against Newcastle last weekend and he was class, couldn't believe he was only 17. Only played 20 minutes but played the two best passes of the game and looked so comfortable.

Looks like football fortune has shone on Lincoln..

Nowt to do with embracing a collaborative approach with inward investors..

Nowt to do with having the nous to appoint a manager on the up that gets instant results..

Nowt to do with having a transfer policy of permanent signing quality over loan signing quantity..

And nowt to do with exploiting a feel good factor..

My sentiments exactly.
How dare Lincoln have ambitions?
How dare they risk looking overseas for investment.
It also looks like Shrewsbury and Paul Hurst have the same failures with maybe getting promotion and a visit to Wembley, which means more money in the coffers for signing better players.
Both teams have up and coming managers who want to win games whatever. The managers and players are on bonuses so they just go out and try to win. Winning breeds confidence. We haven't been winning for more than a season now. We have an outdated board, with an outdated manager and a lot of outdated players. The biggest thing that is standing in the clubs way is an outdated loan which like a lot of things that are outdated is way past it's sell by date.

I'm sure with your progressive board of directors, fantastic stadium,
huge and loyal support and coach of the century in Slade you'll soon be back amongst us. Might have to overtake Boston and Gainsborough first on the way back but a lot of you won't need to worry about that as you'll probably be pushing up daisies by then 😊

Oh and by the way that's was another 9000 plus crowd tonight and believe it or not we do have a number of boycotters.

Ah well another £500,000 in the old war chest from this competition so far.

We shouldn't rub it in really but if the majority of you want to diss us expect a bit back.

Wait.....wait....I'm just putting my tin hat on....OK ready.

Said it last time you tossers were on here giving it the big 'un when we went into non league. What goes around comes around. You weren't far behind us and funnily enough we didn't hear a peep from you for years. Was a bit difficult though as most of you abandoned the good ship Imp. Down to 2000 fans at one stage wasn't it?

It's your turn at the moment and good luck while it lasts.

Crowley’s are going nowhere at present in process of moving from a rental house paid for by the club to nice £500k village retreat, and their goal is to get Lincoln into the Championship and with the money they are generating it could happen, which will make my visits to the local increasingly unbeatable,

Personally I could see Hurst going to Barnsley as would have thought the geographical location would be perfect for him and he always was getting loan players from them so must be a good relationship already in place.

They are certainly generating loads of cash but their ill-gotten gains from the Checkertrade dont sit well with me. Sometimes morals become before cash. It is like they have profited from running an illegal immigrant scam or paedophile ring. Might make them wealthy but everyone but themselves know it is wrong

Unfortunately we couldn't beat teams of kids and if we had someone who could take rather than miss penalties we might have a few ££££££s more in the bank too from the 'Ridiculous Lets Boycott it Trophy'

Incidentally every time we got to Wembley / Cardiff our own message board was melting down with estimates of how many fans we might take, where to drink etc etc for weeks before so we can't complain when little clubs get so excited when they make it

Wish it was us ? - yes I am jealous I admit it, as I suspect are you and all the other Lincoln knockers. I wish we had their managers, their crowds, their cash, their promotion / playoff possibilities, Ollie Palmer and everything about them at the moment

Yawn. I'm jealous of their manager and their board for sure but would I care if we'd got to a final of a competition where we were the only team who'd taken it seriously? No, I wouldn't.

As for getting excited, I pointed out that towncryer was on here in the early hours of the morning. Sure be excited, that's fine, but you must be an absolute sad act to do something like that.

Also, it's hilarious that you rate Palmer but think Bogle is/was terrible.

Swin had a bee in his bonnet that Bogle was not only over rated but had an injury that would crock him, and he'd be a waste of money. He prayed night and day for Bogle's 'dodgy'knee to go so he could be proven right, it didn't happen and he's been pi$$ed at him ever since.

Maybe Bogle could PM him and they could bury (another) hatchet eh?

Yep, wouldn't disagree with that. Pleased for Helgy and the like who have stuck by them. It's not easy supporting a failing lower league club year after year, so when the good times do arrive, you have to savour it. Still think this competition is a joke mind, and it shows the standard when a relegated Coventry won the last one.

As for all this about Lincoln being a progressive, forward thinking club. Is that really the case, or did they just get lucky with their choice of manager? Winning leagues and doing cup giant killing acts tends to pull in the crowds and makes life a lot easier for everyone. They were mid table non league not so long back with Moyses in charge. They still might be if they hadn't got Cowley or he had failed.

Our chairman got the SA investor on board who got the right manager in. Though it's not only about the Cowleys. Clive Nates has also helped attract a lot of decent people into the club, they have brought in business acumen and forward thinking with aims to improve things on and off the pitch and help galvanise the club .  We were down to the barest of bones staff and board member wise, apathy amongst the fans and a terrible feeling of stagnation and resignation to our fate.

The last 18 months have been a minor miracle, it probably won't last and the bubble will burst to a degree at some point. Even if/when the Cowleys move on though I expect the infrastructure will be in place that keeps the club at a much healthier place than previously.

Well done Imps I am pleased for the genuine fans who stuck with them through the hard times. They are a Club on the up and fcuk being embarrassed by them we should copying them with what they do off the field. They are a small league 2 Club getting things right and if they can keep it sustained for a while they will become a small league 1 Club with aspirations of the Championship.

Oh come on micky, credit where credit's due.
We have the biggest support in this league home and away although notts and cov are trying to overtake us by giving thousands of free tickets away for some of their games.
We currently have 3 times as many fans as you so if we're a small time league 2 Club what does that make you?

Your clubs finished. Fenty is going nowhere and let's face it if he does you'll be gone a lot quicker than the slow death your club is suffering at the moment.
You have nothing , absolutely nothing to offer any potential investors. John would have literally give the club away to get anyone within 10 miles of cleethorpes and is he going to do that ??? Is he heck. He's put to much in to pull out now. Your stuck with him and he's a dinosaur and your only going one way. The only hope you have got is that when Slade does eventually go that somehow and by some miracle John gets the right manager in but what's the chances of that ???
Good luck to you cos your going to need it with him at the helm but you can have as many demo's as you like, he ain't going nowhere and there's no one out there to save you.

Heard the same big mouth talk from Scunthorpe when they went through a purple patch, now their gates are just above what they had before which will happen to Lincoln once the Cowleys get an offer from the league above, all managers look to move on, even the great Alan Buckley did it and the Cowleys aren't in the same league as that legend.

It's funny that they spent so long in our shadow that as soon as they get a bit of sun they don't go out an enjoy it they turn away from it so they can mock us in the dark, how bitter they are, just like the Scunts.

Cheers Impish. It is quite remarkable how quickly you have improved in 18 months. Makes it all the sweeter when you have been in the doldrums for so long. Still think it is mainly down to the manager and getting the right one is the hard part, as we know only too well.

Weve been around for 140 years and I doubt you have topped us on average gates in more than 10 of them? Now what that says is when the going gets tough as in really tough you lot shrink to around 2k and we don`t.The last 18 Months Lincoln have got it right on and off the pitch and are having a golden period THIS WILL END it always does at some point.Enjoy the ride towncryer cos when the Cowley`s go you will be back to where you belong in the natural pecking order a small league 2 Club.GY well who knows like you say we could be proper doomed I would not bet against it but I would bet you will be the first 6 fingered bell ringing goon on here spouting BS ;D

A good sensible post from an Imp and whatever the circumstances of the checkatwat glad an U23 team never made the final. The competition was for lower league players and fans to experience Wembley.Good Luck

You've not posted here since September, usual brave fan, wait until something goes right until you stick your head above the parapet. Just like two 3rds of your 'crowd'' - no interest until the going gets good and there's something to gloat about.
I'm sure the historic game against Chelsea under 23's [(blushing) ]will be passed down into your (rather limited) footballing folklore.

I get what you mean 1ML but surely it would’ve been better if an u23 won it in front of a few thousand at Wembley live on tv as it would publicly make a mockery of the competition and resign it to Steve Harvey’s bin

I only posted on here because of the stick some of the contributors were coming out with on here.
I'm not a fan of the completion and didn't attend our group game against Everton simply because I wasn't interested in watching them. We all know that the closer a Wembley Final gets, and don't forget we have never played there before, the more intrest is going to be generated. You would have had exactly the same when you got to the Final.
And yes, to answer Micky at the same time, when the Cowleys do leave things may level out again, who knows but you have to live in the moment and savour it and that's exactly what we're doing.
I don't wish town any ill harm but the whole of your club seems to be living in the past and unless someone sorts it ,it has no future.

So the Cowley’s live together. How sweet.

Brings up images of Eric and Ernie. I wonder which one is which. 😊

Heh...you were one of those who figured out it WAS'NT the Everton first team huh? But Chelsea Under 23's are a different thing altogether, and of course Wembley!!
So now you're aboard, and we all now know you're a true died in the wool Lincoln fan who is simply selective about his band wagon of choice ..I think we're done here ::)

Please don't get on at me for abandoning my boycott and principles because Wembley was in sight. We've never been before you see, and even though we did only have to beat 2 teams of players who have barely started shaving, it just feels so good. Shaun Harvey will be thrilled, i'm sure.

Better. In our case we don`t have much but the past to gloat about at present. If like you we could put together a decent cup run and get a draw against a big boy and some tv revenue it could kick start us.For the record the ONLY reason the Imps are getting so much attention on here is not so much jealousy of your Club but anger at our own for failing to capitilise on the support it had after winning the play off.I remember reading Vital before we had won vs FGR and the vast majority wished us well saying far better a proper club got the spot even if it was us.I felt just the same for Lincoln last night the fact you are on here today because it meant something I bet not a single Chelsea fan spared a thought about last night`s result.Them and Us I am afraid and I`m still with US.

Lincoln fan in peace.

Stop being such a b£ll£nd towncryer. Both sets of fans know how bad it is in the National League and I have no desire to see us or Grimsby back there, We need all local clubs to be doing well to create a healthy rivalry where we are competing against each other hopefully in Div 1 and not the unhealthy one your pushing on here. Coming on here moaning about all the stick Lincoln get on here, when it is no different on the Lincoln forum is childish at best.

I hope Grimsby can get their current issues sorted out as ASAP and move forward.

Pleased that the Lincoln fans finally get their day out at Wembley, where they will be greeted with warm friendly smiles, while being screwed by Ticketmaster, Wembley for food and drink, London for parking, motorway services, enjoy the day!!!!

Any Lincoln fan I've ever come across (charity bike ride and football matches) have always been decent lads. Hope they enjoy their day at Wembley... But, 1 thing I wish happened was an all under 23s final, would really show how pathetic the competition has become and surely their wouldn't be anymore than a couple thousand fans their?
