As a middle aged man who pines after his lost youth, is Gullivers any good since it's refurb?  If not, where do the indie kids go these days after the barge?

Yes the Barge followed by Gullivers on a Tuesday night, them were the days! No idea where’s cool now though, I left Grimsby in 87!

I did my time on the Barge through to Gullies in the late 90's/early 00's. Great days!

What age qualifies as middle age?

Good question. At 51 I think I’m blagging it a bit being middle aged......

I also did Gullies many moons ago.

My nephew who is still on that scene says Gullies is cack now. The Matrix next to Spoons is his venue of choice.

Lifeboat is long gone but the Dolphin is still there. It's now a BBQ joint having been through many transformations over the years. It's now called The Smoke Shack.

Only been in once since it's been re-done.

Very smart, well much smarter than Gully's anyways. But it was dead, try elsewhere if I was you mate.

First went in the late 80’s when they did an under 18’s night  - first time I danced at a disco, it was to Pump up the volume. Was a regular after that and met many ladies there. They used to end the night with some cheesy tunes, California and Dancing Queen. The good old days........

I haven’t been since just before Christmas but of the few times i’ve been in Gullies since the refit it’s been largely dead. The only time i remember it being remotely busy was when the barge had the bands playing back in September I think. Even then once the bands stopped playing the place was afterwards.

It’s a shame really as i’ve had some quality nights up there. They also shouldn’t have got rid of the cloak room, in my opinion.
