Can anyone explain these two to me, you know the new Glen Downeys.

How bad are they to not even make the squad let alone the team. I mean consistently excluded, even when we can't buy a win. Their not young pros that we signed for some point in the future, like for example Cardwell. Surely they are worth a run of games given that they are on two year deals, or are they complete write offs just six months in.

No mention of trying to get them out on loan to get some game time, not really getting any time in the first eleven, hardly any reserve games so how are they ever going to be match fit? It's so bizarre I can't think of a town manager disgarding long term signings so quickly before. I don't think they can have made ten league starts for us between them.

We don't know how good or bad they are because we have an absolutely terrible manager.

I would be handing in a transfer request if a guy with vernons record of scoring was getting a game of ahead of me ! Kelly is a classic example of weak hearted s@hit out winger , he makes Gary Child's look like Bobby Cummings.

Do you know what? I can't even remember what Kelly looks like and i have absolutely no recollection of him playing in a Town shirt, but i must have seen him play at some point. Bizarre!

He disappeared quicker than Betamax video.

The Port Vale fans were spot on by the looks of it. Complete waste of money.

All my Vale mates were laughing their socks off when we signed this pair. When I would go into work last season there was never a pair of names that didnt gat as much abuse every week as those two did.

Add to that, since Hurst left how many of the 26 signings have improved the side? For me it’s 3 (Osborne, Jones and Dembele) one has already gone, one seems to be on his way to Scunny and more concerningly, two of those 3 are Bignot’s signings who was only given one window and signed 8 players as opposed to the 17 that Slade has signed! However with Asante and Cardwell we don’t really know if they’re any good because we’ve never seen them play!

Thing is Hooper was on trial for weeks before we signed him.

I missed the verdict …was he guilty or innocent?  ;)

Maybe its not the players fault just the pillock that is conducting them.

For all the abuse Woolford gets, he looks so much more of a proper footballer than Kelly - my main memory of Kelly so far is yelling 'make a challenge' at him as he sauntered around at BP in a cameo sub appearance.   Kelly makes Woolford look like Paul Bolland, tackling-wise

My main memory of Kelly was him receiving the ball wide left with about ten yards of space early on in the game away at Stevenage. Instead of driving at the full back and taking advantage of the good position he found himself in, he was too scared of potentially being on the end of a tackle so he meekly dribbled out of play. I'd already seen enough of him against Chesterfield and Coventry to know that he'd been a poor signing but Christ on a bike I couldn't believe we'd signed a winger who'd rather just run out of play than try to take their full back on.

I remember when we signed Kelly and Paul Wilkinson proudly announced that Dembele and Kelly could take us to the next level

In his defence, he didn't say which way or which level they could take us to.

Regarding Hooper, he's certainly got something about his game, but he's not exactly an all-action sort of a player. If he was played week-in and week-out, I'd imagine he'd reach double figures in the scoring stakes, but I don't think you'd get much else out of him and we're not nearly good enough to carry this sort of a player.

From the odd appearance I've seen from Kelly, he seems to be relatively nippy and has a good close control but he never actually did anything when he got the ball at his feet and disappeared out of the games very quickly.

Which is what every Vale fan was saying to me when he signed. And if you look at that showreel of his on YouTube you can see it.

So was Paul Dixon.

You have to question Slade’s judgement, and Wilkinson’s.
