Much changed today mainly because of injuries but Collins rested.

Killip
Davies
Osborne
Clarke
Dixon
Dembele
Berrett
Summerfield
Jayesime
Woolford
Vernon

4-4-1-1 with Woolford behind Vernon. Hmmm!

I'm going for 4-3-3 with DJ & Dembele wide of Vernon, Woolford on the left side of a 3 man midfield.

Nope. Tondeur has said it is 4-4-1-1.

He has had a long chat with Slade he said.

Looks a team of last man standing gets a game. Most changes forced by injury and Collins rested as Slade feels he isn't up to 2 games so close together. What it does is highlight our lack of depth and puts into question the signings of Hooper and Kelly. If they can't get a start in these circumstances, it doesn't say a lot for their abilities.

Yeah I can live with being average and losing to decent teams but we need to be doing better against these even if it's away.

I will be disappointed no revise that, really fukin p1ssed off if for Saturday we haven't got a keeper and a striker in as well as Osborne and Tombola back. I can defend Slade for having to clear up the Bignot crap but not using everything at your disposal is irresponsible,

How the hell do you put it over from 6 yards out?

I've never understood why, when faced with these indirect free-kicks, the attacking team don't just place a few of their own players on the line and then just take a huge run up to belt the ball through the wall, and take the (very high) chance that it'll brush someone or something on the way through.

Total lack of composure or invention from Town.  They look like they couldn't score if they were out there all day.

Can't stop thinking how lucky Fenty was with the last one coming after a couple of decent results which doused the flames of anger that were beginning to rage. Well John, they're burning and raging like the very fires of Hell itself now!

Luckily it would appear to be the case.

The game was going nowhere in the 2nd half so I can't see why Cardwell and Clifton did not get on earlier or at all in the case of Harry.

Still 14th and still 5 wins clear of the bottom 2, so once again shows how poor this league is that we can get thumped twice in two days and stay where we are. Drifted out to 8 points from the play offs again though. We get close and fade away time and again. Poor team in a poor league is how i would sum us up at the turn of the year.

Perfect time to give Clifton a run out today in the second half. What did we have to lose?
Posted by: RoboCod, January 1, 2018, 5:19pm; Reply: 155
We now enter 2018 on minus 6 goal difference. Given that when we do occasionally win it's often by one goal. It could possibly take 5 or 6 wins to even get the goal difference to zero. Any more defeats of course will just add to the minus tally and require more wins and goals.
How on earth does anyone see this team as capable of making a late run into the playoffs?
I'd settle for Dave Moore right now as caretaker while the board take the rest of the season to make the right choice.

Though I think Fenty  will keep you here Slade just to spite us the fans.

It's become personal and we all know Fenty's hatred of anybody that questions his authority/position.

But we'd still be stuck with the same mediocre players and going back to square one with half of them on 2 year deals, with a new man wanting to bring his own players in and we can't get shut of the dross. More of the same I'm afraid. We have to suck it up folks. What's done is done. For now.

The only thing I can see that could help us is to find a sum of money to pay off players and invest in some new ones, in January, and then take stock at the end of the season. Those people calling for Fenty and the board to resign and walk en mass might like to point out where the money to run the club will come from in that case, in the short term at least. We are in a stalemate for the foreseeable future in my opinion. Results might continue in the same vein, home crowds will fall below 3000 and we might limp our way to safety or, at best, lower mid table nothingness.

Though I think he's miles away from warranting a big money move I fear that the only way we can do the bit in bold is to sell Dembelle for a relatively small sum say a few hundred grand  if someone comes in for him. Otherwise we'll have to tough it out for another season or so I reckon.

Can't believe I'm saying this but Dave Moore stepping in would do it for me, as unadventurous as it sounds. Because for me, Fenty and Slade have poisoned this club in the last couple of months in particular. The forum was awful, the unveiling of the horrendous Marley a shock to the system, he's the mad ranting family member you keep locked up in the cellar, not parade in front of the fans and media.
As bad as it was we still had a decent unbeaten run to possibly build on back then, but that seems to have crashed spectacularly since Fenty's new attack dog Slade ordered Matt Dean from the training ground. Had our majority shareholder and our manager put as much effort into running the club and the team as they put into attacking a local journalist I'm sure we'd be at least a bit better off.

Give it to Mooro, grind the results out and let the season dwindle away then delete it from history, then let everyone involved do some soul searching and do what's right for the club before it's really too late.

Although I would like Slade to go but I am afraid it's the same situation as England. Over the last 15 odd years England have had a number of managers, some with half decent records but, they were still all working with basically the same players, who as we know were just not good enough. Even if we change manager he will still be working with the same players, the only hope would be if he had better ideas and tactics than what we've got now.

I didnt go today and tbh never planned to.

However i would normally have put on the radio commentary. This season has gradually sucked my enthusiasm away so i didnt even bother with that.

Thought I'd check my phone after about half and hour just to see ........2 down. Oh well. Game over then. I didnt even bother following the score after that ......what was the point. I have never seen Slade do anything to change a game so this would be no different. I haven't read the match report...again no need to really. I expect Town tried to keep it tight after going 2 nil down and did nothing to really get back in the game. In that sense Slade would be content no further damage happened.

Getting to the point that i can be arsed with much more of this. Morecambe at home on Saturday....bumper crowd there then. Can i summon the will to make the 60 mile round trip?? Have my ST so probably will but if things dont get better ( and i mean positive performances as  much as results) the day may come when i will think nah.

Slade wont change so wake up Fenty. We will get nowhere with him in charge. Then do the honourable thing yourself.

I also am questioning what Wilko actually does. He was a forward (a pretty good one as well) so presumably has some input on our attacking ideas???? This side is one of the most clueless , inept, shite sides going forward I have ever seen in my life.

Well the big test during the Christmas period came and went what did we learn?

Unlike our neighbours Lincoln we failed miserably to step up to the mark, their squad is mean and lean( yeah even Rheed) and not afraid to go at the opposition full of confidence.

A nice sized squad Ideally placed to make a couple of quality signings for the final push and marshaled by two talented young managers.

Our side looks toothless without ideas an excess of contracted players not wanted by the manager sent away disillusioned.

Only players to show consistency being Clarke,Collins Summerfield, and Dembele.

It's going to be a painful second half probably without the only bright spark worth the entrance fee ho will be gone to pastures new.

I wouldn't have a problem with letting Dave Moore hold the reins in the short term. He is a great man and knows football and players inside out, except to say.....just what might Dave Moore realistically be expected to achieve in the newly open transfer window? In all seriousness, and due respect to the man.

I'm undecided about keeping or sacking Slade. I can see the reasons for both, and I'm probably leaning towards the latter after listening to his post match and other recent interviews, and using my eyes to behold the pathetic recent performances/tactics, but if the window is crucial, as most seem to agree, then we have to persist until that's done really. Surely. If business is poor and results and performances continue in the current pattern by Feb, then I'd say he'd have very little, if any support left. Decision makes itself then. We must win the next home game, and we need more than one better player than we've got, immediately, if not sooner.

You may be right, it's an unsettling experience currently for anyone who's not of the immediate 'sack him tonight' persuasion. Dave Moore as a steady guiding hand would be ideal for me, though I doubt he'd even consider taking the reigns fully and negotiate through a transfer heavy January.
I'd settle for the knowledge that Slade is gone at the end of the season unless he somehow turns this team into at least a top 8 contender. If not then getting rid, of course, is dictated by his contract length....

Nobody could reasonably expect Dave Moore to have the knowledge and contacts to find two or three quality players in the window. That's not his area of expertise. It's not what he does. It'd be barmy  and grossly unfair to expect that of him. He can motivate, organise and set up a team, for sure. Anyone else at the club that could manage us through a good window...?

I don't doubt he has excellent contacts and relationships - he's a fine man, but is he constantly tracking players, talking to managers and agents, checking the development of lots of players, talking to scouts? Why would he need to do that, when he's the Physio?

If you're saying he could manage us and bring in quality signings, then I bow to your superior knowledge and would press for his immediate instalment as manager.

Well for a start I would recall Osborne, Asante and Bolarinwa and give them a start or use as subs, they cannot do any worse that most of that shower today.

If I was JF and I wasn't going to sack him I would seriously question any signing that RS wants to bring in and hopefully ask some of his contacts what they think because it is clear no due diligence was done on some of the signings RS has made so far.

If JF is thinking of sacking him I am sure he should have someone in mind already as my contact mentioned to me earlier this season he was a couple of games away from the sack he then went on to win 3.

I would also add that I have not advocated that DM be given the job but I would not have any issues if he was asked to be caretaker, I also cannot remember if I have suggested Slade be sacked I just think he is a excrement manager and wouldn't have appointed him in the first place and wouldn't trust him with your money let alone the club's.

Easy to understand the sentiment in a lot of that, but if we deal with the reality of having Slade and contemplating what to do next - you would recall Osborne, (suspended) and Asante and Bolarinwa - neither of whom can get in their respective conference starting elevens, and one of whom has made practically no impression at all during his loan to the level below, and that's it?

You don't want to commit to sacking Slade, and, by your argument, he shouldn't be given money to spend in the window because he's squandered enough already. If he were to be sacked in your scenario, you wouldn't mind Dave Moore to be caretaker, but you're not advocating him, and you know that he has contacts sufficient to get good players in the window. I'm sure I've seen you type 'just get rid' somewhere, and we've probably all felt like that in the spur of the moment, but we have surely got to be pragmatic and do what's best on balance? It's really not easy, and as I said, I think we are in something of a deadlock at present. Surely we take stock in February?

I apologise you are completely correct, let's continue with the likes of Hooper, Woolford, Dixon (who went missing at the far post yet again for Crewe's first goal) and Kelly as Slade has made a wonderful job in giving at least three of them 2 year contracts and they are world beaters compared to those that we have out on loan.

Come on JF give Slade a few million to add more superstars.

They probably are no better but it would be nice to at least see them given a go.

Bolarinwa always looked to me as one of those players that could look a world beater one game and crap the next and may not be good enough for League 2 but I compare him to Woolford who just looks crap every game.

Although I've got less enthusiasm for town than at any point in 25 years I wouldn't sack Slade right now. He's got us into this mess with some really poor signings so it's up to him to get us out of it. I wouldn't trust him with any more money so it's down to him to see if he can free up space on the wage bill to bring players in. If things continue like they are then I would get rid when we get to 50 points to let someone else assess the squad before the summer.

Bolarinwa always looked to me as one of those players that could look a world beater one game and crap the next and may not be good enough for League 2 but I compare him to Woolford who just looks crap every game.

Tom has had enough chances - I guess he was signed as a 'rough diamond' but three managers have tried to polish him without success. Asante is clearly non-league standard and Osborne doesn't appear to want to be here so the sooner they go the better.

I think I agree with this

So we get rid of those out on loan, we also get rid of those we agree are crap that are on 2 year contracts although a contract expert on here suggests that that isn't possible and we are left with?
