With Christmas coming up and having just experienced some superb customer service from a local trader i thought why not have a "great local shops" thread to aid people spend their money wisely..

So to kick off....David Bury's ....recently bought a washing machine from them which developed a fault...after being messed about slightly by the manufacturers service division David Burys took over and just brought me a brand new machine instead of me having to wait for a repair.
Outstanding service from them.

Out of interest, which manufacturer was it? I only ask, as I'm 'in the trade'.

Bury's are definitely an outstanding local retailer, couldn't agree more.

I’ve purchased a few items from David Bury’s over the years and always received outstanding service, Les sorted me an extended warranty on my Miele washer free of charge. Top service! 👍

Yeah, David Bury's aren't too bad.

Quite often cheaper than online retailers like AO too, especially with timed slot delivery, install and disposal charges.

It's a very competitive market now with all the online retailers but I like to think that we can offer a more personal service than buying off the internet and as we usually try to get as close as we can to others prices and we're usually cheaper on install/disposal charges anyway.

Now that Manders and Rayners have gone I think that we're the only independent electrical retailer left in the area that sell the full range of both white and brown goods.

I bought a washer from Bury's and agree that they are a good company. Will definitely use them again in the future.

I'm waiting for the one that will say we're not very good.

No matter how many good reviews you get there will always be a few that won't be happy.

If you can get a price near where the on-line retailers are I would definitely support a local retailer.

I won’t darken Curry’s doorstep ever again. It’s not often I bear grudges but they are definitely one. Shite delivery service, poor aftersales service (re delivery comment) and impossible to get hold of anyone who gives a stuff and is able to do anything about it.

Grrrrrrrr!

We usually try and get as close as we can to the on-line retailers. We can often match or get very close to their prices and we are usually a lot cheaper on installation and disposal charges if you require that. We'll also guarantee to give you a decent after-sales service too..

For example, you buy a washing machine from AO, they want £29.99 to install it and £24.99 to take your old machine away. We offer the delivery/install/disposal service all-in for £24.95 so you're saving £30 there already.

That's a tasty saving Les. I bet you don't cover my postcode though  ;)

I reckon on-line retailers of all types make a big chunk of their profit on things like delivery charges etc. They work on the fact most people just look at the headline figure, and like the convenience of on-line, and can't be arsed to do the maths on the full package. You won't be providing that service below cost, and big companies ought to be able to drive the logistics cost down further, so that £30 extra they charge is a fair whack of extra profit on a fridge-freezer selling at £300.

And your profits stay in the area not going to some offshore tax haven.

Unfortunately we only deliver free within a 15 mile radius of our stores. I'm sure there will be an independent Euronics dealer fairly close though.

Currys , bought a washing machine in the summer (sorry Les) didnt take up the disposal option already arranged for scrap man to pick up for nowt , didnt take installation option as previous experience fitting them  .......delivery came only 2 hours late .....asked where old one was  told them not to bother asked if they was fitting told them no ....face look miserable as sin  so they dumped it in the box and tried to leave ......told them to stop where they where and take there boxes with them .....they stood there tutting while took packing off and inspected it for dints .........when i declared myself happy  one quipped " just attach it up and off you go "..........let them get to the front gate before I told them that due to that quote if they dont now point out all the transit bolts that need removing they would be responsible !!!!!!

Look on their faces was pure filth lol........if they had turned up and been pleasant then it would have been different

anyway new upright needed after xmas .......if you have anygood uns in the sale Les drop us a message please
