Cod Almighty's diary mentioned former Crystal Palace left-back, Jason Akiotu, might be on trial with us. A quick google found this:

That's from October 10th, losing 2-0 to Mansfield reserves. Is he still on trial/making any impression?

Yes he's training with us. From the Telegraph today:

Slade said: “Under the rules, he’s already had two games. He didn’t play for the Reserves yesterday.

“We will organise an extra game for him to play in. More importantly, he’s been training with us.

“He’s looked good. He’s different to what we have got in that he is quite pacy.

“Jason is pacy and aggressive going forward, and he’s only young, at 19.

“It’s an age group we are looking at to try and make sure we have got some good young players coming through.”

I like the sound of that all in all, with Hall Johnson waiting in the wings at right back/side and this fella sounding a very similar mould on the left side it certainly looks as though Slade knows the limitations of the current first choice full backs with an eye on their respective ages as well.

To be fair  - the back four are all on limited age based timelines, and forward planning now must be done to stop wholesale bidding to fill gaps next season.

Kev Moore wasn't too bad as a 19 year old left back amongst that great local influx of youngsters years ago.

Maybe more flutters into the Nike Academy and U23 squads could be a fiscal method of gaining recruits for next year?

Mr Dembele was a good risk to take !
