i think a lot will depend on how much success on the pitch we see in the first few home games. if we start the season well then 4500-5000 with better away support is reachable but cannot see much more than that. Likewise if we start poor then 3500-4000 will become the norm again. but I am feeling positive in the team re-build so hope the gates and support reflects this.

I can see Blackpools average plummeting a fair bit next season, unless they get off to a really good start.
A lot will depend on how well we do next season. If we're challenging at the top I'd like to think that we'd be pushing the 5000 mark.
Very surprised to see Morecambe below Accy, I didn't realise that they were so poorly supported.

It we are near the play off places we will get over 5,000 I am sure.

I would happily take our position in the attendance league as our final position back in the FL . Fox

You also have to factor in vastly improved away support so I should think gates approaching 5000 maybe the norm

Quite ironic we had better support than Hartlepool after the gloating they have been giving us

If Cambridge can manage over 5200 surely we can. Or did they have very low prices?

I wish the Club would sit down and seriously attack filling BP with a bit of thought and effort they could sell out the home stands the support is out there.Anyway I shall be getting my Season Ticket either tomorrow or Saturday and it`s looking like money well spent.UTM

If we went up to League 1 here is how we would stand, I think it's fair to say that we'd be more likely in the bottom half but you'd certainly expect us to rise.a few places with the extra interest and away fans.

Think if when we get to league one we would expect to be above the posh most team in this league will bring upward of 750 and many actually filling the away end

Once we get into league one that's when it's stars to show how much Blundell park holds us back , if we're not getting a new ground anytime soon is seriously look at knocking the main stand down and trying to increase the capacity

Our highest average gate since 1990/91 ( 7237 ) was in 1991/92 which was 6921. Since then the highest was 1998/99 which was 6681. These were all times when we were at Championship level. I would be very surprised if we managed anything higher than 6250 at League 1 level.

Away support to BP is always in the bottom 3 of any league we have been in.

That can't be right for Scunny, a team chasing promotion to the Championship.

Does anyone know what capacity we could increase BP to if we had to. Im a bit sceptical about the new ground. Is 15,000 impossible or would that be blocked by the neighbours?

Not sure BP can be expanded ? Wasn't it looked at before but due to housing , parking etc not viable . Fox

I would be interested to see the working out that says BP cannot be developed.
Parking has never been a big problem as far as I am aware. Even when we sell out you can usually park less than a 10 minute walk away. Also I thought the current mood was one of discouraging car use and encouraging public transport, biking and walking etc.
Would it would cost less to knock down and replace the bits of BP that need replacing (Main Stand and Osmond the obvious ones!) than build a brand new ground?

It is almost always cheaper and easier to build on new, well surveyed site than to knock down and start again. Upgrading BP is just not worth it and is in the wrong spot. To attract more fans needs good parking, eateries and other attractions to get floating fans to the ground.New grounds always attract new fans.

Apart from which you have the loss of at least one stand for the duration of demolition and construction.

Parking might not be a big problem for committed supporters like you at BP but it might put off more casual occasional supporters from attending. A new purpose-built ground generally sees attendances rise, partly because it offers things like improved transport to those who might not otherwise attend.

Parking is a huge problem because there are no public car parks close to the ground. Everybody seems to think it's ok to park on the street but all this does is create more congestion. You are also parking on other peoples fronts and whilst not illegal can be very annoying for the residents. I know some will say they must have known the situation when they moved there but car ownership has greatly increased over the last twenty years and surely we shouldn't deny a house owner the ability to park his car on his own front. These are the same residents whose support the club would need because to develop BP would require planning permission and obviously they can object on the grounds of the parking impact.
