PH has just made today an even more must win game for himself.

Thirteen goals on the bench. An underwhelming nom scoring loanee up front. Well done Tinkerman Hurst.

Not only that but people haven't mentioned that we kept our first clean sheet of the season on Tuesday and the defence has been changed too.

Definitely need to win now...

I have always supported Hurst but today I wonder at a club ne'er the bottom of the league and two top strikers on the bench that's dam stupid

But Bogle has looked like he's needed a rest in the last couple of games.

Let's see how we actually do before giving Hurst pelters shall we?

Not the team I'd have picked but IF we win 3-0 then Hurst will have picked the right team.
Posted by: Hagrid, September 26, 2015, 2:40pm; Reply: 11
Im behind Hurst all the way. But this has left me staggered, i like JPP but to leave top 2 scorers on the bench is a crazy decision. We must win today now

Told you, he's got small man syndrome
Posted by: LH, September 26, 2015, 2:45pm; Reply: 13
Fair point Tommy but these changes aren't going to win over the doubters.

If Bogle needed a rest 99.99999% of people would say Amond should come in to replace him.

I really hope these changes work today.

Am a little stunned! To put it mildly, agree the upfront changes are mad but while I rate Pearson as our best cb we keep a clan sheet and Hurst changes it?!? Only fair to see how it pans out but big gamble!

I still believe Pearson is our best defender so no qualms about him coming in to the side.

The Tranmere game on TV is the only one I've seen and Bogle was very ineffective. Reports suggest it was a similar story at Wrexham so giving him a break doesn't seem too controversial. Leaving Amond out makes little sense to me.  :-/

I thought Tondeur mentioned Bogle having some strapping on his leg the other night, not sure. I think Bogle can be too keen and maybe needs to be told to ease up at times, even though he'd insist on playing.

Amond however...clearly not in the LJL favourite mould.
Posted by: horsforthmariner, September 26, 2015, 2:58pm; Reply: 22
Basically what I'm going to say if we don't win is Hurst is incompetent, useless manager who doesn't have a clue. If we win I'll say he is clearly a tactical genius who we should never ever doubt
Posted by: pontoonlew, September 26, 2015, 3:05pm; Reply: 23
Bogle needed taking out the firing line perhaps.

But as previously predicted, Tomlinson has waltzed into the flipping side and taken Amond out the picture. Classic Hurst and always with the same bloody result.

He'll NEVER learn.

So we play teams off the park and lose or draw. Then we are outclassed at Wrexham but get a point. Now we are outplayed at Southport at the start and lead 2-0.

So the worse we play the better the result.

I don't think I will ever understand football. Quantum Physics seems much easier to comprehend.

As someone who is far from PH's biggest fan even I am getting tired of the slagging off he gets before, during & after every match.

Results have not been what we want this season but IMO performances at home (games I see), in the majority of games, have been & entertaining to boot (something I have never said during his previous 4 years in charge.

I said a couple of weeks back we normally hit a good run in October & with Forest Green & Gateshead to visit BP in the next few weeks we will soon now how our season is going to go. If at the end of October we are mid table then by all means let it out but does it have to be every bloody minute on here!!

You have to give the manager credit as well as the players selected.  PH has balls big enough to come in a dump truck...but it could have easily have been the opposite.

Less of the abusive personal insults please

Bizarre of how someone who claims to be a supporter is so upset about his team winning 4-0 away at one of our bogey teams.

Makes a big difference when you actually take your chances, doesn't it?

Hopefully, we'll keep a clean sheet today as well.

A goal or two off the bench would be nice also!

Can't complain about the score at all.

The decision to drop our two top scorers is still concerning regardless of how you look at it. I don't think it's particularly healthy in terms of a full season to drop in form players. It's a great result today though.

Hagrid i can give the team credit by all means but cant give paul any and whoever wasnt concerned by our two leading scorers on the bench is a liar mate sorry.

I just dont like him in case you never really got that  ;D and a win at southport wont change my mind sorry.

Credit to the team today by all means.

Yet when we lose you generally blame Hurst and not the players Jonny.

I get that you seem to have a real dislike for Hurst but try not to make it personal against him. He's doing his best and doing what he thinks is best (even if some of us disagree).

And thinking Hurst should be sacked doesn't mean you can't give credit when it's due. If Hurst doesn't get any credit when we win then it'd suggest you think he's not responsible for team performances, so how can you blame him for bad results/poor performances?

We sound like we are well in control of this game, really glad we have got our scoring boots on again ready for the Gateshead and FGR games, This will hopefully give us a massive confidence boost, C,Mon Town we can do this. :)

I doubt there'd be many on here who would grant Hurst the tactical and managerial nous to do that....but who knows.

Maybe he just does have some aptitude for management after all  ;)

Bogle's form had dropped in the last 3 games, he also had a little tantrum when he got dragged off the other night, i dont disagree with that choice from Hurst at all.. but we have looked quieter up front since Amond fell out the side so very suprised about leaving him out today.

I am not sure the qoute " dropping in form players" is accurate. They may be playing ok but as a striker if you are not scoring enough goals to beat the number we concede then I dont think they are doing a good enough job unless of course the defence are shipping loads which we are not!

A pity one of the subs didn't get a goal, but you can understand the team taking it easy when so far in front.

Two points behind 4th place so it's good that we're heading back up towards where we ought to be.

The wheels seem to have completely fallen off at FGR which is incredible when you consider the start to the season which they had. Would be a very good game for us to win next week!

Yet some seem to want him to fail so that they can see they were right. Saying how bad a manager he is because of changes he's made before a ball is kicked is just ridiculous. Yes there were few who agreed with all the changes today but there's a reason he's a football manager and none of us are!

True, it is childish and I'm guilty of it. Couldn't resist though given the level of abuse he was getting before kick off. Sometimes I do wonder if some people actually want us to win.

Now WE all owe it to  them to pack Blundell Park to the rafters give the lads and the manager one hell of a reception. Lets give Forest Green a battering on and off the field they will never forget.

Whichever way we look at it we have now put together a 6 match unbeaten run and have kept two clean sheets on the bounce.

Last season we had a masterful defence but folk were always saying think what we could do with genuine goalscorers. Maybe PH has got it exactly right now - going and playing to the strengths we know we have. Two players with 13 goals on the bench will hopefully be busting a gut to get a start next week. Players do have to earn their place and nobody should be immune from being either dropped or rested if the situation demands it. Beat FGR next week and the drums will be banging bg time, I'm sure?

Just shows what a strange game this is. While FGR were winning those early games we were missing umpteen chances and conceding from the odd attacks on our goal.

Todays stats for FGR vs Gateshead read..
Corners: FGR 6 Gateshead 1
Shots on target FGR 14  Gateshead 2

Sounds familiar.
A complete reversal in fortunes for FGR and ourselves, and evidence that anything can happen this season.

Said earlier in the thread somewhere that everyone if honest, would've had grumblings about the forward line today.
I know I did.. :)

Although I think Bogle is a player in the making, he didn't show anything more than JPP or Timlinson when he came on today (I know he didn't have long, but he still made wrong decisions)...think the decision to leave him out will give him something more to think about, he isn't now first choice no matter what (a la Shop), will bow down to PH wisdom today!
