Thought it might benefit us financially with our weekend bets if posters could give us ideas of teams who are looking good or who are struggling
For example I will looking to bet against Sunderland and Braintree as I think both will struggle with the squads they've got.
There might be some value in orient.my mate is a season ticket holder and has been pleasantly surprised as to how good they look under their new inexperienced manager and having lost a shed load of good players. Further down bath city have an excellent side, so I'm told by a player in their division and Maidenhead have money and have recruited well under curbishley who did so well with Braintree in a higher division

I'm planning on putting ebbsfleet into plenty of bets this year . By far the favs for national south after having loads of money pumped in by some lunatics

mate at work says his bro in law has great success with the following strategy on Europa League weeks. With all games being played on Thursday night he selects the teams (not just English teams) with the longest journeys and then bets against them on the weekend league game. apparently he's won £££££££££££££££!

They had loads of money last year as well and bombed. Think that may be to do with the rubbish manager they had (Jamie Day) who has now been replaced.

The group stage of the Europa League has been like shooting fish in a barrel for me the last few seasons - even when boosting the odds with a few handicaps.

I mainly just bet on goals nowadays with the occasional flutter on match betting accumulators just to keep Saturdays a bit more interesting.

It would be good to have a long running betting thread on here just to see where the money is going.

I put most of my tips on OLBG as you can get cash prizes if you do well. I have won nearly a grand on there in prizes. At the moment I am a Super Elite tipster which means any prize I get is trebled. Here's my tips history.

The major golf tournaments have produced good money for me. Particualy if you look at who has played well on the course preiously. Odds are normally decent enough and e/w often gets the top 7 or 8.

As for teams to follow this season Dunfermilne are worth adding to the list of teams

Agree with you re the golf and it's the only sport I make a profit on. Just missed out with Oosthuizen at the Open but had him e/w so still made a profit. Think Bubba Watson looks the bet bet for the USPGA which starts today but had very small e/w's on Danny Lee and Robert Streb as they're both playing well at the moment.

I think Bubba looks a really good shout. Lost in a play off there last time so can handle the course, played very well at the Bridgestone last week and has got a couple of majors under his belt. Generally seems to be big-hitters who do well at Whistling Straits which will suit him but if anybody can get around that then it'll be Spieth. Shaping up to be a cracking tournament.

Literally no science to it in Europa League. In the group stages there are some good teams and some terrible teams. Often the odds are so poor on backing strong favourites that I boost the odds a bit by backing -1 or even -2 if I'm confident. A season or two ago I won 2 lots of £150ish off £5 backing a treble of -1 handicaps on consecutive Europa matchdays.

Regards goals I see who has averaged the most/ least goals for/against for the season and then over the last few games home or away and try and match them up with each other. The number obviously varies week to week depending on fixtures and is very hit and miss too on anything bigger than trebles on over/under 2.5s. Used to do a similar thing for goals galore too but got fed up of waiting for one team to score and it never happening.

I'm also seeing how long I can make a fiver on Town games last this season. Started with over 3.5 gls at Kiddy at 11/4 (gutted that one won!) and rolled that onto Town -1 on Tuesday at 29/20. Will probably go back to overs on Saturday on that one.

can't find anything on qarabag but have put in a series of little yankees covering all the suggestions, so let's see how we go on saturday. Haven't done Sunderland coz Norwich look just as bad imho.

HARTLEPOOL, BLACKBURN (away at 'Udders), BATH CITY, POMPEY, BRISTOL ROVERS (away at yeovil), - all draw/win

GY-BROMLEY over 2.5 goals

MAIDENHEAD, TRANMERE (away at Braintree), EBBSFLEET, DUNFERMILINE, LEYTON ORIENT all to win

have also had Chester & the Poolies(win/draw), Macc, Cheltenham, FGR, Woking as they all look decent enough odds given their opposition and early season form

Sorry to be thick but what do you mean by "draw/win"? Do you mean win or draw or drawing at half time then winning at full time?

I like to keep my bets simple so usually just do singles or doubles on wins. Town to win and both teams to score seems an appealing bet at the moment though.

not totally confident on Pompey winning at Plymouth so have accepted worse odds to have the security of still winning my bet even if they draw.I only lose my bet if pompey lose (it still acts as a single bet)

I was tempted to back Amond and Bogle as any time scorers on Tuesday night.

Both were 8/5 with B365. So if you out £10 on both of them you are £6 up if one scorers and £12 if both score. Might be worth considering for the games we should be winning.

PS doesn't Andy Murray (hilarious Town fan not Scottish tennis player) always have a tenner on us winning 4-1? Bet he was dancing in the Lower Findus when Barrow scored if so.

There is a way of guaranteeing a very small profit each week on football on bet365.

Pick 2 certainties as singles. Pick another game and cover over 2.5 goals and under 2.5 goals. Pick another game and cover home win, away win and draw. Perm it by backing 4 folds. So long as singles win guaranteed profit. Wont be much but its a small way of paying for a bet each week and over the season a little a week soon accumulates. (The game where you cover all results pick a tight one, ie one where odds are evens or better).

Btw it may say cant perm but when you try to it lets you. Also worth keeping an eye on cash out market

The only football betting I ever do is my £2 accumulator on 6 homes that are evens or better.

I have done this for the past 7 or 8 seasons now and only once have I not ended up in profit.

If you get it up then you are guaranteed of at least £128 so you only need to win once a season to return a profit. Last season it came in twice and I won a total of just under £500 and with there only being about 35 full fixture dates, only costs me £70 over the season.

One season a few years back it came in 4 times and I won almost £1000. It is surprising the games you can find where the home team is at least evens.

I only got 3 of the 6 last week. I posted my predictions early on last season too and think I only got 1 of the 6 correct so here's what I have done tomorrow.

Sunderland to beat Norwich (6/4)
West Ham to beat Leicester (13/10)
Fulham to beat Brighton (8/5)
Barnsley to beat Burton (13/10)
Bradford to beat Shrewsbury (13/10)
Port Vale to beat Gillingham (7/5)

A return of £379.61 if all win.

No doubt these will all be away wins now.  ;D

Here's one of my bets this weekend, League One aways. I have done a Lucky 31 with Betfred, who have the best prices on these games.

Fleetwood/Crewe/Colchester/Doncaster/Shrewsbury

If two win you'll make a small profit. I had a similar bet in midweek and won over a grand for a £36 stake.

I put £1 on all the 3pm games in our league each week. If there is an early or late I put an extra 50p on that too. Last season I was one game off £11k and 2 (an early KO) off £22k!

This week it's £8k.  Also do a few goals galore coupons. Spend £5 on a Saturday and about £3 if there is a few games on a Tuesday.

Started a goals galore spreadsheet and although it is pure guesswork at the moment, my plan is to select teams based on them regularly coming up in goals galore.  Let's see if I get rich!

I've got a GG/2.5s spreadsheet too for the first time this season after realising guess work is basically burning a fiver every week. At least this way it fills a bit of time looking and studying before I burn the fiver.

GG in the lower Scots divisions is a good one as well. Some weekends it seems every team outside the SPL had scored.

I ring fence all my betting money. It's not part of my day to day expenditure, I could afford to lose the lot. Anything I win I reinvest in betting. I have long losing streaks sometimes but I have made money the last few years, although there is never any certainty of winning in the future. On a given week I rarely bet more than 10% of my pot. I would recommend using sites like OLBG to try out different betting systems without spending any real money.

Stand out bet for me at the moment is Texas Rangers to win the American League West. They have a game in hand on LAA and if they win that they'll be neck and neck in second place behind the unfancied Hosuton who do not have a.big squad like the two richer teams. You can get 16/1 on Texas and LAA are 8/5. That's an insane difference when there are loads of games left. I think it's very likely that the price on Texas will shorten between now and the end of September too as they are the division's form team, so even if they don't make it you'll be able to lay a covering bet so you lose nothing.

Thought i'd give a quick update.
Bath City and Leyton Orient sit proudly on top of their divisions, although get the feeling the time may be coming to bet against orient - 100% records have got to come to an end soon!
Dunfermiline has been an interesting pick - certainly came up trumps last night with a great victory against premiership dundee.might be worth going on +2.5 goals - they certainly know where the net is.
sunderland are looking awful, but i'm erringa way from braintree - they're picking up too many unexpected points!
likewise maidenhead who are doing the opposite and haven't quite been as good a s i hoped
Ebbsfleet was a good shout and have started strongly and pompey and yeovil have done well in a positive and negative way respectively!

the 2 posters who are doing goals galore spreadsheets - anything interesting to report??

couple of others to add into the mix - hartlepool, have greatly improved and are picking up some decent results at fairly decent odds
and i'm going for Borussia Dortmund and Town (great attack dodgy defence) on +2.5 goals. Thomas Teugel has really got Dortmund firing and they look a very dangerorousl attacking force. Could have scored about 10 against Inglestadt last week

keep an eye on bury, cambridge, carlisle and qpr - have all been involved in averaging 4 goals + per game

Let’s go Rangers, let’s go!

I have become something of a fan since backing them. After winning something like 10 on the bounce, they lost last night. Try as I might I am struggling to get my head round the league system. It is nowhere near as simple as 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw!

My spreadsheet gave me a decent 38.4/1 win yesterday on a sevenfold on it's first run out of the season. Tomorrow it suggests that an over 2.5 goals treble is likely on:

Eastleigh vs Torquay
Gateshead vs Lincoln
Halifax vs Barrow

I got roughly 6.2/1 at William Hill on it.

Like the look of the Town game getting over 3.5 tomorrow which is around 2/1 too.

I am steadily backing Rangers for the American league and world series now. You can still get 40/1 for the World Series and Rangers look good for at least a wild card spot now if not the divisional pennant. LAA have crumbled recently and are now down to exactly 0.500! I am already guaranteed a decent profit on the American West.

I had some bad luck in the League Cup the other night - I had my last bit of money in my account (£12 something) put it on 13 matches on an 8 fold. 8 were coming in until Stoke conceded in the last minute at Luton!

All good fun though. Only bet what you can afford to lose...

Goals Galore, so far off the top of my head St Johnstone, Grimsby, Lincoln and Gateshead are good bets. Forest Green are the team to avoid. Most of my data is in the Conference as teams have played the most games.

Over 2.5 goals or 3.5 goals just means 3 or more or 4 or more respectively. To avoid confusion between over 3 goals meaning more than 3 or 3 or more.

I like the draw no bet feature on paddy power (presume others do it too).

Had a couple of good returns from this, yeah the odds are a bit excrement, but prob returned a £60 profit over the past 2 weekends (Thankyou Swansea yesterday!)

LA Angels way out to 14/1 and Rangers in to 5/1.

Astros are still best price 1/3 though so am considering taking the money now it seems to be a two horse race. How did you guarantee the profit? Back Houston?

I actually started the season by backing Houston at 33/1, I continued to back them until they were about 3/1 then started backing Texas from about 20/1 down to around 8.1 I think. Now I'm backing LAA from about 5/1, topped up at 12/1 today (you can better prices than that but not with firms that will take my bets). So whatever happens I'll win quite a bit relative to my initial stake. I did the same thing 3 years ago when Oakland won the league in 2012. They had to win the last three games away at Texas to get the pennant and they won them all to net me just under a grand! I think my initial bet in 2012 was about 3 quid or something but I just kept moving with the market.

If you started with Texas I'd wait a bit. I'll think they'll get closer, the rest of the season mainly sees the teams play one another. Definitely worth topping up on the American League or World Series bets. You can still make a profit even if they don't actually win them just by the odds dropping allowing you to place opposing bets,

One goal away in the Gateshead/Lincoln game and obviously Town were dog eggs in front of goal on the 2/1 o3.5. That's why it's called gambling.

Texas down to 7/2 now. They are 1 game into a 4 game series at the Mariners who don't have anything much to play for. The Angels look like they have too much to do now they need to win 80% of their games I reckon to win the pennant. The Astros are definitely starting to wobble and Sonny Gray is pitching for Oakland tonight so they could drop another game which means Texas could catch them up if they win their game and their two games in hand. The bet is looking good! I've even topped up a bit on 7/2!

Yep being keeping a close eye on the Rangers and Astros via Twitter. I put £10 on Rangers at 16/1 and have enjoyed watching it shrink.

Jeremy Corbyn not to win has to be a no-brainer at the moment. A tenner will win you £135 after commision on Betfair at the moment. There have been no meaningful polls of those eligible to vote. Everyone is saying Corbyn will win, just as everyone "knew" it was going to be a hung parlianment (I looked at the data and backed a Tory majority in May). This time there is no data but we've had months of everyone saying Labour can't win the election with JC as leader. I think most people accept that and will vote likewise on the ballot paper. Don't forget JC will have to get over 50% of 1st choice votes to win in all likelehood as most other people will have put him 4th.

Didn't realise borussia mg had migrated to La Ligue! Lol btw might be worth avoiding them, they've now lost 4 out of 4 and losing 3-0 at home to the equally useless Hamburg hardly inspires confidence. Would be more inclined to go on Dortmund goals, they look so good going forward

All three of those Scottish ones look very good for over 2.5. Not so sure on the League two fixtures.

I rely on overall and respective home/away averages. In English games I have a ten point system and none of the games I've put on today meet less than 7 points. With regards to Scottish games I only have a six point system because I'm too lazy to log home and away data. When I become a bit more proficient with Excel I will expand the spreadsheets and maybe include a few more divisions.

Scottish Leagues 1&2 are goal city most weeks - worth picking 5 or 6 of any of the games because they come in all the time.

All meet 7/10 criteria although a couple of them don't look like coming in IMO but you can't argue with stats.

One game let me down......Oldham 1 Peterborough 5.  ??)

I should have realised that after sacking their manager they'd win their next game!

It would have returned £404 for a £2 stake. At least I get my stake back though for missing by one game.

Hills. You always seem to get better prices straight after the matches have finished or even while they are in play and it's very likely a team is going to win as they have a big lead. I wonder if a lot of firms need someone around to nudge the odds down, or maybe it happens when people start betting on it. Either way most of my baseball bets are placed around 5am-6am, then I go back to sleep!

Still think it's illogical. Texas play Houston at home in the next two games and they have a high winning percentage against the Astros. They have another series in Houston to come as well, I think that's three games. Texas should be favourites IMHO.Their recent form is better too. Houston are doing a "Barnet" where they were ahead by miles and have got pegged back.

Houston lost tonight to the Angels (good game it was too) so looking very good if the Rangers win their games in hand. This weekend is going to massive with the 3 game series between Texas and Houston.Just a shame I have to sleep sometime.

I am in a winning position after numerous bets on this market whatever happens but I win most if Texas win, followed by the Angels followed by Houston.

I have a whole series of bets on all the three teams (and Seattle) to win the American League as well so the post-season is going to be interesting whatever happens. Could do with the Yankees losing a few to increase the number of AL West sides in the equation!

In the National League I have backed the Cubs to win.

Top BTTS
Swindon - Colchester
West Ham - Norwich
Lincoln - Torquay
Birmingham - Rotherham
Oxford - Morecambe

Top O2.5
Swindon - Colchester
West Ham - Norwich
Brentford - Sheffield Wednesday
Cambridge - Stevenage
Lincoln - Torquay
Bury - Coventry
Notts County - York

Nothing below 8/10. Swindon/Colchester is a 10/10 on both lists.

Texas Rangers down to 2/9 from the 14/1 I got when I backed them. 9 games to go isn't it? If they win all three of the next three games at Houston this weekend they can't not win the division by my reckoning.

some rubbish odds going round, but here's 5 or 6 which look interesting value.

Leicester are evens to draw/win at home to arsenal, and better than 3-1 for a win.

Dagenham, only lost 1 in 6 , go to Barnet who have only won 1 in last 8. Daggers are 14-5 for the win and 4-5 to draw or win

sheff wed are 11-5 to win at Brentford who have only won 1 home game all season

Bets value looks like Carlisle at 6-5 to beat Newport who haven't picked up an away point all season. Carlisle are unbeaten at home

Yeovil are 17-10 to beat the Poolies. Yeovil are slowly improving whilst Poolie are sliding alarmingly

and lastly Southport are outstanding odds if you consider they're one of our many bogey teams, and we're hardly in the best of form.5-1 the win or 13-8 for the draw/win.the draw looks interesting at 10-3 given that both teams have drawn their last 3 games.btts is 10-11, and both teams do tend to score

Agree with Leicester looking good value.

Millwall who are yet to take a point at home this season up against fifth placed Rochdale who are 19/10 to win is one that caught my eye. If only because of Millwalls abysmal home record.

Just had a look at the high scoring scottish div1. 26 of the 35 games have had over 2.5 goals

The LA Angels to win the American League. You can get 20/1 with Corals. They have series coming up with Houston and Texas so if they win those games then they'll obviously make gains on the teams above them because those are the two teams!! I reckon they have a better chance of making the play-offs than Houston who are 10/1 at best, yet their recent form is dreadful and they have a 3 game series coming up with in-form Texas their bogey team.

Obviously if LAA make the post season they'll have to win the wild card game and then progress to the final and win it for the bet to pay out. But at 20/1 there will be ample laying opportuinites along the way if they progress.

The Angels still looking good for the post-season, but no small thanks to Mike Trout. Just look at this catch! I think it was in the 8th inniings and saved 3 runs, then the Angels walked off in the 9th! This one moment could totally change the whole season as well as being catch  of th year. Well worth a look even if you don't follow baseball.

Off topic for the thread but whilst we're there...for anyone who hasn't seen it...compelled to raise your catch with this from 2/3weeks ago...

I expect to die not having seen better.

(The Trout one very tidy, too; I must add)

Midweek Special

BTTS
Morecambe/Luton
Porto/Chelsea
Brentford/Birmingham
Colchester/Bradford
Peterborough/Bury
Dagenham/Notts County
Plymouth/Barnet
Leyton Orient/Carlisle

O2.5s
Morecambe/Luton
Porto/Chelsea
Burton/Sheff Utd
Peterborough/Bury
Dagenham/Notts County
Portsmouth/Exeter

I did think that eventually this spreadsheet would bring up fewer likely fixtures but it seems there are more and more every week. Might have to alter it a bit to narrow the criteria a bit.

I see Texas are doing their very best to throw away the division!

There's a mention on the BBC site of a guy who got an accy up last night for 45K with a fiver bet. Just needed Everton to win after the weekend fixtures. Wonder how tempted he was to cash in when WBA went 2-0 up?

William hill offered him cash out of just over 4K before kick off

Colossus bets offered him 8k to buy the bet off him

Declined and has 45k sat in account now

Fair play, although I bet at half time he was regretting not cashing out lol

I've done my £2 on 6 homes at evens or better tonight. Have got 5 out of 6 the last twice so no doubt I'll probably get them all wrong by posting them on here.

Fulham to beat Wolves 13/10
Peterborough to beat Bury 6/4
Wigan to beat Millwall 5/4
Hartlepool to beat Bristol Rovers 11/5
Stevenage to beat Mansfield 6/4
Wycombe to beat Cambridge 21/20

Returns £424.35 if they all come in.

Most worried about Fulham and Hartlepool so they'll probably be the only 2 that come in.  ;D

The Angels are still 14/1 to win the American League and Houston are 10/1. LAA are now in the play-off spot ahead of Houston and have a game in hand. LAA have a series left in Texas but they are the form team and you'd expect them to win some of those games - if they sweep Texas they could even grab the title. Houston finish the season playing in Arizona under NL rules which seems bizarre, not sure how much that will hinder them. All in all LAA seem the best bet and I topped up this morning on both the American League and World Series. There's a slight chance the Yankees could stumble at the line and not get the wildcard spot which looked a certainty a few days ago, all of which helps the American West sides - my dream is that three of them make the final five as I have positions on all of them!

I walked into Ladbrokes this morning and put a fiver on Chelsea to get relegated at 2500/1.I don't expect them to get relegated but if they keep doing badly the odds will drop (they are already 500/1 with some other firms) and I can make money by backing other teams to go down or even laying Chelsea if the price falls substantially .

Big night tonight for anyone who took up my 20/1 I think it was on Texas to win the league. Last night's game was jaw dropping when the Angels came from 10-6 down to win 11-10 in the ninth. I've nearly equalised my bets so there's only about £70 difference between Texas winning and Houston winning the league (after an extra play-off to decide the division winner). I really hope though that Houston lose and the Angels win so Texas win the league and the Angels have a chance of making the post-season (my other tip) as I have far more riding on the Angels than anyone else once the post season begins. After last night's game you really get the feeling that an Angel is looking after the Angels!

Ladbrokes have slashed the odds on Chelsea to get relegated from 2500/1 which I got it at to 500/1.. I'll start laying once it gets to around 50/1, if it happens! Hopefully Sunderland will start to improve under a new manager.

Shame the Angels missed out but I have positions on Houston, Texas and a small bet on the Cubs. I'll be putting a few quid on the Yankees for the wild card game against Houston to get back the money I have on Houston and stop me losing anything. The Yankees have been able to rest their best pitchers as they made the post season with a couple of games to spare while Houston went to the wire. The Yankees are going to be favourites but the Astros have been causing surprises all season (they were insane odds to win the league even when they were top after a couple of months - that's what got me started on all this). If you are not on board it might be worth putting a few quid on Houston to win either the American League or World Series as all the money is still going on the teams with the big payrolls. Favourites are always overbacked in any sport IMHO.

They've got to get past the Blue Jays who have home field advantage most. Texas did though play in a league with three strong teams and you obviously play the teams in your own league most so you could argue that's why they have a lower win ratio. The Blue Jays played two series with the Rangers this year and won both 2-1. It's going to be tough as the other team have been able to rest their best pitchers!

I'd say it is, when considering being offered 2-1 on us not winning...having won one in five *and* playing a team above us.

That being so - my heart rules with Town and I cannot bet against them; however good the value.

Texas won both the away games in Toronto, this evening's game was mentally exhausting to watch. Toronto have to be at least 12/1 to win the American League now with two road trips to come in Texas and they have to win both. I have bet on all the other 3 teams to win the American League so just need to back the Blue Jays to complete the set and ensure a profit whoever wins! If all goes well I should be able to ensure the same on the World Series - I have positions on 3 of the 8 possibles so far.
