UPDATE - 3RD JULY 2015. FOLLOWING A SUGGESTION FROM DAVE ROBERTS OF THE MARINERS TRUST, THE 33% DONATION FROM THIS GAME WILL BE PAID INTO THE FUND SET UP TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE FAMILY OF PHIL (LARRY) LAMBERT, TO HELP THEM THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME.

Well, this proved a very popular competition last season and raised over £400 for The Mariners Trust over the course of the season.

I am planning to run a regular Pontoon Buster competition again this season and for the 1st game this season will donate 33% of all takings to the operation promotion fund. I will therefore need to get all entries in by the closing date of the 26th of July so that I can donate the money in time before the appeal closes.

Rules will be exactly the same as last season. Each team will cost you £10 and you can have as many entries as you like. I have randomised a list of all 116 league and national premier teams. When you send your money include 3 numbers which will be your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of teams. There will be 3 prize pots in each game. The winner(s) will be the first team(s) to score EXACTLY 21 goals. Only games played over the weekend period (Friday-Monday) will count. If your team plays twice in this period then only the first game counts. In the event that your team does not play during that period then you score a default 2 goals. If you go over 21 goals then you are bust and out of that particular game.

There will also be a prize(s) for the team(s) who are the lowest scorers when the pot is won and also a prize for the first team(s) to score nil on 3 successive weekends. The first weekend of games will be from Friday 7th August.

Entries for the first game of the season will be accepted up to 9pm on Saturday 25th July when I will be able to announce the total amount taken along with the donation to the operation promotion fund and also the value of the 3 prizes on offer.

Entry money can be sent via Paypal to lesbrechin@hotmail.com or by direct bank transfer. (PM me if you do not have the details)

I will list the entries on here as they come in.

Can I please just reiterate that when sending money by Paypal please choose the option of "Send Money To Friends Or Family" as this incurs no charges. If you choose "Pay For Goods or Services" then it incurs a charge of 54p which comes off the money sent to me.

A good start with 17 entries in the first 2 days. Still just over a month to go until the operation promotion deadline is though, so plenty of time to get those entries in.

Obviously, the more entries we get, the more money will be raised for a final donation to the fund.

Ask Dave Roberts/bax to promote via the Trust e-mails and i am sure you will get loads more entries.

Would be great if all 116 teams or whatever the number is were taken up

I've already emailed Dave. I think he only got back from being away yesterday though so he'll probably get round to sending an email out soon,

Dave usually gets about a dozen entries from his family and friends too.

Not sure about shifting all 116 but it would be nice to beat the record of 57 that we had for one game last season.

Just bumping this back to the top of the board to keep the interest going.

Don't forget that AT LEAST £3.33 of your entry fee will be going towards the operation promotion fund and it will also give you a bit of extra interest in the football results at the weekend for about 8 or 9 weeks at least.

It all depends on the number of entries Woz, but let's just say we get 50 entries (which we should do quite easily) as I'm still waiting on Dave Roberts of The Trust who normally gets about 12 entrants. That would be a pot of £500. I am donating 33% to the operation promotion fund (£165) which would leave a prize pot of £335. That would probably be £235 for the winner and 2 prizes of £50 each for the lowest scorer and the first team to score nil on 3 consecutive weekend.

Obviously the more we sell the more money for the fund and more money in the prize pot.

Right, a change of track here now. Thanks to the suggestion from The Mariners Trust's Dave Roberts and indeed everyone on here who has already donated to the operation promotion fund, Dave feels that the money raised in this first game will be needed more by Larry and his family, rather than the operation promotion fund, which has exceeded all expectations several times over.

This change seems to have the universal backing of the entrants so if you want to enter there is still plenty of time. I will keep the deadline to enter of 9pm on Saturday the 25th of July the same, when I will reveal the total amount taken and the donation and prizes for this first game.

That's a fantastic gesture Dave but I think you would be better contacting Marinerian on here, as I understand he is organising the fundraising for Phil. If you drop him a PM on here, I'm sure that he will be very grateful of the shirt. I understand he is planning a fundraising evening in early August so the shirt could be auctioned off then.

Well, it looks like we have broken last season's record of 57 entries. Dave Roberts of The Mariners Trust has just told me that he will have about 12 entries to send me tonight/tomorrow which will take the number of entries to 59, well done to everyone.

Still plenty of time for anyone else who want to enter though with almost 3 weeks until the closing deadine. It would be great if we could get close to the 70/80 mark.

Still time for any more entries. Deadline for entering is a week on Saturday (25th) at 9pm.

Don't forget that you can have as many goes as you like so if you have already entered and wish to do so again then that's fine.

60 entries so far so that's £200 raised for Larry's fund and a prize pot of £400.

Obviously the more entries we get then the higher these amounts will go.

Thanks to all who have entered so far and we have now set a new record for most entries.

Entries still coming in. An amazing 69 entries so far plus I think at least another 2 or 3 to come.

After the donation to Larry's fund we should be left with a prize pot of at least £500 (if we get to 75 entries). For this game I will be awarding a couple of spot prizes too along the way just to keep things interesting. I'm open to ideas for these but it will be something like £25 for the team who scores 5 in the 5th week or maybe a prize for the first team to bust.

Any other suggestions for spot prizes and I'll go with the 2 I think are the best?

Maybe a bit to complicated that one Ginny. Would mean that I would have to look at every result each week where a team scored 3 or more to check the scorers.

You have my two suggestions les
First team to score 5 in one game
And a prize for the highest scorer in week 3 of the game if there is a tie those players go into a mini comp in week 4 and so on till there is one winner

Ok, a quick update. With the deadline a week tomorrow we have had an amazing SEVENTY ONE entries which is bloody fantastic.

As I said I will be adding a couple of other small prizes of £25 for this game. From the suggestions I have decided on "The team to score exactly 5 goals in week 5". If more than one team scores exactly 5 then those teams will go into the following week with the highest scoring team winning the prize, this will carry on week after week until there is only one winner" If no team scores exactly 5 in week 5 then it will carry on to the next week and so on until the prize is won.

Also, so that it's not just the good teams that win then there will be a £25 prize for the first team to sack their manager. If no team sacks there manager during the course of the game, then the £25 will be added to the prize pot for the next game.

With 71 entries now it will be a lot easier for me to list the number NOT taken for anyone else who wishes to enter.

45 places still left, let's see how many we can sell.

Numbers still available - 15, 26, 31, 35, 38, 41, 43, 46, 47, 48, 51, 52, 53, 54, 61, 64, 70, 74, 76, 77, 79, 81, 82, 84, 85, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 99, 100, 101, 103, 106, 107, 108, 109, 112,115

Excellent. That now brings up 90 entries.

Your teams are Preston North End and Woking.

Still time for anyone else who want to enter before the 9pm deadline tonight.

92 seems a fitting amount.

Right, entry now closed and an incredible NINETY TWO entries which gives us a total of £920.

A little less than 33% but to keep the figure to round amounts I will donate £300 to Phil's fund. Along with the £150 raised from the auction of the signed Joe Waters shirt then I will be transferring £450 later on this evening. I'm sure this will go someway to helping Phil and his family out in these difficult times so well done to each and everyone of you who has contributed to this.

The prize fund will therefore be £620. Prizes will be..........

£400 for the winner(s) (i.e the first team(s) to score EXACTLY 21 goals.

£60 for the first team(s) to score nil on 3 consecutive weekends.

£60 for the team(s) who is the lowest scorer at the time the competition is won.

£50 for the first team to sack their manager. (If this prize is not won then it will be added to the prize pot for the next game)

£50 for the team who scores EXACTLY 5 in the 5th week.

For this final prize, it can only be won by one team. If 2 or more teams score 5 in week 5 then those teams will go on who scores the most goals the following week, the weeks after etc until there is one winner. If no team scores 5 in week 5 then it will go on the team(s) to score EXACTLY 5 in week 6 etc, etc, once again until there is just the one winner.

I hope that is quite clear.

Finally, it will be rather late on Saturday or maybe even Sunday morning until I update the first weeks results as I won't be getting back from Kidderminster until late on Saturday.

Good luck to all, any more questions just ask.
