In short we want to raise a minimum of £20,000 in the next 8 weeks for Paul to spend on new, key players. If we raise £20,000 the Mullen family will match the funds fans raise!
Any questions please ask...please share, support and let's get that £20,000 raised!

Ok ....minor moan here...
why is somebody/someone taking 6% of the total raised? If we hit the 20k (x 2 = 40k) with the costs for "items" that is nearly 2.5k out of the kitty.
It is good to see that they have listed the number of takers against each amount so i expect to see at least 55 100 pledges on there pretty darn quick.

Not a moan but the number of backers total at the top of the page on the right does not match the backers in each category beneath the total?

Out of our hands sadly. We could have done it via the Trust shop but it wouldn't have been as transparent and would have been more work. The investment by the Mullen family will not be subject to the 6%.

Where are they?
Ah I see it now. When you go into the pledge screen, some are sold out so aren't being offered on the main page.

Really good initiative. Plenty of decent stuff for fans to buy, and although the 6% thing is a bit painful, I think the effect of having transparency & a clear running total will more than compensate. Much more chance of this snowballing if people can see it's going well. I'll be nagging my parents to get involved.
And a special mention to the Mullens. They may have enjoyed some great fortune recently but £20k is still a huge amount to simply hand over. Top stuff all round.
Edit: And another special mention to Andy Newman! Not only is he flying the flag for Town at WWE with his signs he's now an actual member of the squad!

Additional edit:
I just donated the money as I want it to go to the fund but will there be any option to buy the Fish tshirt seperately as depending on the style of it think I would like one in the future.

To help keep momentum going...
All those with twitter or Facebook accounts will help if they tweet and post that they have pledged. Share the link
Some more will pledge by seeing the wave of support rippling across social media, and by seeing that others in their circle are getting involved.
Every declaration of support helps.

It took me flippin' ages -- but this initiative is great job by all concerned.
About a quarter of the way to the initial target after an hour and a bit.

It's against crowdfunder rules to do any raffles or draws as part of it, so we'd need to be careful as I'd hate for us to become a cropper after such a great start.

Good idea to add to the options as it goes along. Likely to get repeat pledgers and refreshed interest, particularly in the 2nd month when the next payday cycle has completed.

Might I suggest putting some you putting more Club shirts , training gear on ect as I might be tempted again if there's something of interest to me. UTM

Yeah good point - every chance I'll go back and put some more in after next pay day especially if something interesting was up for grabs. Seems to be ticking on nicely although guess it'll flatten out a bit at some point today. Hopefully not until it's well over £10k though!

We'll be drip feeding stuff throughout the eight weeks for several reasons
1) To keep interest in it 2) After pay day people will go at it again 3) So we can target fans, then businesses etc 4) We're getting offered tons of extra stuff as we speak

Fair enough maybe something that can be done seperately. Regarding the signed shirt - it says estimated delivery in August so does that mean it's presented to me on the pitch or are they just awaiting signatures first? Also is it framed or is there option to have that done? Thanks.

I know this is not the reason they have done but I would like to publicly thank them for their generosity. A real shot in the arm for the club.
The reaction to our playoff defeat could have been VERY different and stuff like this together with the signing of key players has ensured a defeat has created something really positive for the club.

Some info please on donating?
I pledged £100 for the Trust about a week ago, along with many other fans. This was on a Sticky thread.
I want to give once, but not twice. Is my £100 part of the the Trusts £5,000 donated to the "Mullens offer"?
If not, do I need to "re-pledge £100" now as this will count double with he Mullens' generous offer to double it?
Thanks.

Idea for another item to sell: Club shop bundle.
Simply group together a wide range of items from the club shop: t-shirts, clocks, towels, key rings etc. and make some effort to package it together so it feels more official. Easy win as all the stuff is already at the club shop. Bit of a mark up on normal prices, maybe several different price level packages.
I realise all the stuff is already available for sale but I think seeing it listed on the crowd funding page would tempt a few people that wouldn't have otherwise considered it.

IDEA:-
Would it be possible once the final figure is totted up, to invite everyone that has donated, to Blundell Park for an "Operation Promotion" team photo. Would be great to get as many of us there as possible for this.
Perhaps with one of those big cheques being handed over as well?
Anyone agree?

Good to see the club are using crowd funding. It baffled me why it hasn't been done before. I haven't donated yet but 60 days gives me plenty of time and I will.
I still believe that the Trust should look into contacting local breweries and putting on local Real Ales in the bars on match days and contacting local butchers to come up with some proper Lincolnshire sausages and sausage rolls instead of the crap plastic ones on sale at the moment. The same could be done for pies and burgers. And the buns to boot! Sack off the walkers crisps (let Leicester City sell them) and get some Pipers in. In exchange, they get a extra business a small advert by the kiosk where they are sold to show where the butcher/baker is, we get happy fans the community talk about us, people come to the ground spend money, maybe the butcher can employ a new member of staff. Community gets one person off the dole, Grimsby and Lincolnshire become more prosperous...
I refer everyone to Kidderminster and how people rave about their food. We can do that!

Know it has been said by just about everyone but boy I could not be more proud to be a Mariner than today! Thought we would get there but never this quickly. Once I've spoken to the wife about what we can afford (not a huge amount as we're pretty skint but should be able to do £25 minimum) I'll be pledging too.

I couldn't care less what Lincoln City fans are doing.
It's all part of the fun. I'm chuffed to bits with the campaign, seeing the local 'rivals' certify their obsession with us with a large thread about our campaign, seeing them trample all over their pitch watching some 80's pop stars with pork pie hats raise £25,000 and we're halfway to that, pitch intact. Remembering their mockery of Grimsby in their local rag as being 'Skint'....it's obvious which set of fans truly care about their club and will help in the effort to get back to the League. This is why my Lincoln born son is a Mariner, and proud of it.

With the trusts 5k and the Mullens pledge to double the final total we have already at least raised 40k in less than a day. Thats a new player already 8) I can see us cracking a 100k if not a lot more by the target date. In fact on the basis of this I'm going to get a season ticket for the first time since 1990 even though I'll only be able to get to 10 or so games next season. UTM

No doubt. However, not everyone will have had a chance to read it yet, some will be waiting to get paid still and others might pledge more in the future. Plus I think I read somewhere about the chance of corporate packages for businesses to get involved with hopefully in the near future. There's only been just over 300 backers so far, if even half of the people who regularly attend games were to put in even a fiver then it would add up very quickly. Personally I don't think £40K is unrealistic given the extent of the good feeling around the club at the minute and the fact we've managed to get over £16K in 8 hours. Even in the time it's taken me to write these fives lines the pot has risen by £30! Imagine if we were to get a really good couple of signings this week, the buzz would be incredible.

Only 300 people have so far pledged. Our average attendance is 3000 and that doesn't include the many exiles and fans who can't make games.
There are still eight weeks to go - while this will probably be the best single day we all have a role to play to keep spreading the word. We haven't made it because we reached £20,000. No point resting on our laurels.
Think how good it will feel if we have played a massive part in promotion at the end of the season!

I think this is key. We may not see as much raised in a single day again but I think there is plenty more to come. Two months down the line most of us will have "forgotten" what we've already pledged and be happy to give some more. Those mugs and t-shirts, dvds etc will tempt plenty of people who have already done their bit to get involved again.

At this rate Hurst will have to re-evaluate his transfer targets. Surely we as fans should be aiming for 50k (which will then be doubled by the generosity of the Mullen's). If we then sell an extra 500 season tickets (huge ask) then this will all make up to around 200k extra for Hursts transfer budget which with the squad we have in place at the moment could be huge. Lets hit 20k tonight, UTM!

Unemployed 16 year old, pledged £5, not a lot but need to keep money for the ST, had to take part though!
The Teenager’s Offering
Paul sat down opposite his computer (that he knoweth well how to operate) and watched the crowdfunding in progress. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor teenager came and put in £5.
Calling his assistant manager to him, Paul said, “Chris, truly I tell you, this poor teenager has put more into the transfer fund than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but he, out of his poverty, put in everything.”

Back to #operationpromotion, it's worth pointing out that at least 10 of the items on offer have completely sold out. All the mugs, t-shirts, tours with Lloyd Griffith, the Wayne Burnett posters, the place in the squad to name a few. Looking forward to see what else will be made available as I'm sure there will be plenty of people who've already pledged that will get involved again. Simply brilliant.

Absolutely fantastic and it must have blown everyone's first day expectations out of the water.
IF you have been able to donate that is great. How about now trying to persuade one additional person to do the same?
Cliche I know but this proves once again that it is virtually impossible for the vast majority of us to make a difference but collectively we certainly can!!!!

When the £100 pledge page was first launched I did think that we'd surprise. I wouldn't be surprised to see us hit £50k on the crowdfunder site before the end of this month - let alone next. The Mullens might regret their decision to match us for a while but this warchest is going to serve us well.

Yep we need more items to buy. After already donating, the misses will chew me right out if I don't have something to show for the next time I pledge haha. So far I've done 30 for the transfer budget.. She didn't understand, then after reading some of the donations and it being payday I put in another 20, which I informed her I'd become a member of the trust lol... Need something to show next time or she might twig on. Amazing effort today!!

Now it's already a big success it becomes infectious and people want to be a part of it - just need to keep publicising amd pushing it. Need a big splash in the GET, a piece on Humberside, Look North etc Great story for them - fans rally behind club etc. And of course, like Chris said tell friends and family about it. Phoned my Dad earlier who used to go regularly but now quite infrequently and he's put £50 in because he was so impressed with what has been achieved already.
One other thought is what about those without internet access? Any alternative ways they could contribute?

I'm thinking of auctioning my unworn, fully signed, 2006 Nike Shirt, size XXL and donating all proceeds to Op Promotion. Does anyone think it will make any money?
Edit: just seen the other thread, think I'll wait to see how much the other shirt makes to see if it will raise anything for the club.
Posted by: LH, June 1, 2015, 9:06pm; Reply: 282
Could we do an Operation Promotion "Tour" tee-shirt? All the league fixtures (obviously when released) on the back like you'd get at a gig, Op Promo stuff on the front. I saw some Bristol Rovers fans with one from this season at Wembley. Might shift a few of them.

Wouldn't like to be the player that gets signed. Imagine that chat.. "These fans are quite literally paying your wages, so condo your best for them"...... haha no pressure then..
On a more serious note.. My knowledge of lower league footballers wages is poor.. How much is a decent player on per week at this level.. Grimsby Standard / Full time pro? So how much money raised will be needed to sign 2 players for 52 weeks for example...

The Mullens will match up to a total of £20,000. A fantastic act, especially after all they have done already this season! Pledged £30 for a tee shirt and 1 years trust membership and will put in a bit more in a week or two. Amazing what this town can do when it pulls together. Would it be possible to make some sort of corporate packages that would be attractive to pledge for companies? Even those companies abroad? I was thinking that they would get some sort of guided tour, part history (maybe some viking history to tempt the scandinavian countries) and part football club where they will be able to meet the board (who in turn will attempt to make them buy into the club some more while they`re there). Just a thought!

Anyone know what the profit margins are on the items being sold? If i have it right there will be a cost so £25000 could become £15000 after expenses. Thats if i have it right...which i don't very often if i am honest.

I have just Facebooked the Trust on this one
How about we offer company's 100 tickets in the Osmond for £500 for them to give away to customers, charity, clients etc. They can also have some free advertising on the website, big screen, programme etc
If 10 companies sign up, the Osmond is packed, we have a better atmosphere and it's more funds raised.

Good idea in theory, but I can only seeing it as a loss in revenue as Osmond regulars get in for a £5 from getting promotional tickets!

£100 or £250 or more....
Why do these not include all of the above like normal crowd funding? Also would think that the £250 on should include something special like a signed town shirt or something? £100 one could include pre match meal before a match? Feel like they are missing out by not offering a bit better. People pay more for experiences rather than just donating, stuff that wouldn't cost the club much to do bit of fish and chips and a seat for the match?

If everyone gets on the photo or has a pre meal lunch in the boardroom etc , it sort of devalues the product .?

Still amazed at the amount raised on day one. I am very proud just to have been a part of it and donated some money.
While the bonuses avliable are nice and cool, the main bonus for me is being a part of something so amazing. To any one reading who cannot afford much to contribute I encourage you if at all possible to chuck even just a quid donation in there. It may only be small amount but as everyone has said a lot of small amounts add up to a large amount. And people giving what they can in any circumstance is so valuable.
Mostly though I suggest that just to feel a part of it. I feel more connected to Town now in than at any point in the past, and the positivity that we can do this!

You're right but I do think it highlights a point that not everyone is happy to just donate. I think there are loads of people who would happily pay £5 over the odds for a mug or t-shirt, but wouldn't be inclined to simply hand over £5. If you're not on the Fishy or Twitter then getting something tangible for your donation is the only way you are going to feel part of this. Bax has already said there are plenty more goodies to be made available so it sounds like it's all in hand.

That's the reason why we did this as a crowdfunding scheme, because some people (myself included) wanted to donate and get something back to show we did. Hopefully people will wear their shirts at a match or use the mug at work and we'll know we took part in something special.
We're adding more rewards today and tomorrow and then every few days after that. Suffice to say the response so far has exceeded expectations and we're having to bring some of our plans forward a bit!

WOW. We have smashed that target...fantastic.
Tbf much speculation over what it could be used for but in the run in for the end of the transfer window we could buy a solid RB, or CB, or striker - if those positions were not already filled. My opinion would be to sign a quality striker with the cash, as Hurst has a great eye for defenders. With that sort of money we could afford a 20+ goal a season striker.

#fiftybyfriday is well on course. If we can hit 50 by this week then I fully expect us to hit 100k in total (with the 20k from the Mullen's and 5k from the trust). This is truly amazing and will be massive for the club. 2 top strikers which should and could sign the extra bit of quality to get us out of this league. In Generations to come when we are all long gone the fans of this club will look back to us as the fans who would never give up and got the club back into the football league.

Worth saying that only 835 have pledged so far. Might seem a lot but it's only 6% of our committed Wembley support. To put it into context if all our Wembley support pledged half what they paid to ticket master we'd raise half a million. Not a criticism just an indication of the potential

I remember saying on the original £100 pledge thread that on average everyone who went to Wembley probably spent £100 on that weekend and if they had all given that amount directly to the club, it would mean £1.5m. It certainly seems feasible to get well over £100k. We need the Shop to do a viral video to promote it - oh, hang on, we don't have a Shop anymore....

No. It's not. With the Trust's £5000 and the Mullen's £20,000 it's £57000 but it's minus the 6% on crowd funder and the costs of the items.
Presumably the Mullens and the Trust have another way of giving the money to the club. They don't need crowd funder to provide the service so won't bother with it. Would seem a bit pointless to give crowd funder 6% of that £25,000.

This is my 1st post on here, I thought I'd better contribute both a) some money to the cause, and b) some posts as I've sat and read other people posting stuff for years without doing anything myself!
Typical though, I pledged £50, got home, and found out the cooker is broken! Timing, eh? Oh well, I'll happily eat cold food for a year if we can help the lads get promoted. Not sure what the missus would say to that, though..........
Not that it matters too much, and we all have different opinions, but I'm definitely still on the pro-Ollie Palmer bangwagon, I really hope this gets him on board. He had a few bad games near the end of the season, but when he's good he's the best goal scorer we've got.
Anyway, in Hurst we trust, whoever he brings in will get our support.
Well done to everyone who's pledged,
UTM

Yes - that £25,000 won't go in via crowdfunder so we don't pay the 6%

Very generously, Lloyd Griffith is going to do a gig at McMenemys on 29 Oct with very special guests. Tickets are £15 each and available now from http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/gtfc Lloyd is donating the proceeds to the cause!

I know this may be a negative post but what we've raised is not what Paul Hurst may fully get...
At the time of writing this, we have raised nearly 33k, so lets say it stays at that.
So....
£35k raised minus the 6% crowdfunder charge = £32,900 Minus any costs for tshirts, dvds, mugs, etc etc (this could be anything up to 40%?) = £19,740 Plus the Trust's £5k = £24,740 Plus the Mullens £20k - £44,470
Now without sounding negative, people are saying we have £65k to spend, but by my rekoning with haven't.... I believe what we raised, we will be looking to take off nearly half for the fees, merchandise costs etc.
This being the case, we need to raise along the lines of £100k to enable us to have around the £70k mark..... am I right?
Therefore, keep going everyone.
I will try and get some money in by the end of the month.

40% cost? Don't be daft.

You donate £20 and get a T-Shirt - So 40% of that would mean that the trust are paying £8 a shirt, bearing in mind there would be postage aswell. You donate £10 and get a Mug - So 40% of that would mean that the trust are paying £4 a mug, again there would be postage aswell.
I think you get my drift.
When you think about it, its not daft at all is it?
I understand there are some things that will not cost the trust anything, but taking an average, I think you would be looking at 30-40% costs!

40% overall is a very high estimate. Mugs, badges and tshirts obviously will cost but the tour with Lloyd Griffith and Trust membership won't cost anything.

Dave said that Adam had seen about the appeal and wanted to put some money in.

Ok, I think I wont be too far off.
I guess we will not find out until it finishes, however I feel that what ever the fans raise, we will lose 35% with fees and merchandise costs.
Then on top of that, we get the trust money and Mullens money.
So for round figures, I believe if we were to raise £75k through the fans, we would basically be given £48,750 + £5k (trust) + £20k (Mullens) = £73,750
Only time will tell.

Everything will have a cost LH.
What about staff?
Take the Lloyd Griffiths comedy night for example - £15 each with 178 available = £2,670.
But what about bar staff, event staff (announcer etc), door men...
It soon reduces the income.
Don't get my wrong, its fantastic that he's prepared to do that, but people need to look at what we raise, will not be what Paul Hurst is given.

The costs for much of the things will be zero. Take for example the squad number for £2500 or the team photo for £100 each. No cost whatsoever. I doubt whether the mugs will have cost much more than a quid each, the lapel badges? 50p/£1
You mention bar staff for Lloyds do. Paid for out of bar takings in McMenemys!
Think you are being unneccesarily pessimistic and cost will be nowhere near the percentage you suggest. Lots of things will have been donated, like the numberous Trust membership packages

I bet it will be nearer 5% overall.

Economies of scale. They're not buying one shirt at a time, they'll be shipping all the shirts together which will save. Same with the mugs. Plus putting in large orders e.g buying one shirt from a producer might cost £8 but they'd do a deal where you can get 100 shirts for £5 a shirt. Also there's no way that they're paying £4 to have a mug produced, you can buy mugs from a shop cheaper than that. I would hazard a guess that costs are around 20%.

The unit cost of the T-shirts and Mugs will be nowhere near what you are suggesting! I'd say half, or even a quarter of that would be more accurate.
Also bear in mind that for example the price of the Burnett poster was £10 but I put in £50 for the privilege. I'm sure a lot of others will have done exactly the same.
Jeez, why do some people insist on finding a negative in everything?

I'd hazard a guess that the bar staff won't just be stood around and will probably be selling drinks for money in return. That's how these sorts of things usually work....

I'm not trying to find a negative at all, I'm trying to tell people that they cannot just be looking at the figure and assuming that is completely what Paul Hurst will be given.
All I'm saying is that there is costs to be taken from the amount, whether I be right or wrong in my figures, which means we need to keep going and for people not to have the attitude of "oh that's enough for him".

Fair enough Chris about Lloyds do. I thought the bar staff would be paid from the ticket sales.

I have to say I didn't take this to be particularly pessimistic (although I too think the figures are very wide of the mark). I think the key message is that we still have 53 days to go and I know that the Trust cannot afford to sit back on our laurels and think "Job done". The task will be to keep this in the forefront of people's minds throughout the campaign and beyond. If that means that we have to come up with lots of new rewards and there are some costs associated then so be it....

Just reading the season ticket thread and thought maybe another incentive could be a season ticket which includes some add ons, whether it be a programme, pass for McMenemys or something similar??
I would consider buying a 2nd season ticket if the deal is right?
Probably already in hand but if not just a thought!

On the subject of tickets: could there be one so you make a donation but also get a voucher for a free/reduced price ticket for the first game of the season (or perhaps match of your choice) in order to pack the park from the first game of the season? I understand there will be a lot to sort with this one so just a suggestion.
PS: I saw that my suggestion of holding some back for a urine up has been considered strongly on twitter. I will start charging 6% for ideas in the future. ;)

In the past year or two, ST holders have been given a sheet of various offers which included vouchers for reduced-price entrance to some games. I don't remember if they ran the same offers last year but they certainly did in recent times.
Hopefully, this will continue as it is a nice bonus and I've used one or two of them to get cheaper tickets for friends/family.

Holding some back for a urine up?
I thought that this was just people who had donated meeting up for a drink rather than some of the fund being held back to buy people drinks?

How about Les kicking off the first of the 2015/16 Buster comps just prior to the closing date of #operationpromotion?
It will allow us some time to spread the cost of our fundraising but still have it completed just in time to add some more into the pot.
We were all going in it anyway so may as well pay a few weeks earlier and boost the fund.

Can't see it going up much more now, but good job everybody
Oh it will. Believe me, with what's coming up it will go up!!!
Just to clarify some other points raised:
* The comments about the 'urine up' on Twitter - no money raised will be going towards that. A couple of people thought it might be fun for those who have taken part/donated/pledged to have a celebratory beer at the end of the 8-week period. If people want to get involved they pay their own way (and I'm open to anyone buying me a beer!)
* Comments about cost taking up "30-40%" of money raised are miles and miles out. The vast majority of items either don't have a cost at all or very low. Some (like the shirts and mugs) have a small cost. To clarify, yes some costs will be taken off but nothing at all like 40%
* Nathan Arnold haircuts - watch this space!
* Bucket collections - there's an ongoing discussion about catering for those who don't have access to a computer/paypal etc and we'll make any appropriate announcements about where/when once we can.

Is this something you are aware of ? I believe this could be very beneficial to the trust / player fund with a real possibility of making at least 2.5k to this cause. I am also offering my delivery / commissioning free of charge to the winner. I have left my contact details within the email if this is something of interest.

I hope they put something in the paper, or possibly the website. You never know, we might attract a wealth individual :D

other nice landmark approaching is the 1000 backers - still only 30% of our average home gate, which means 2000 regulars could still pledge

I'll be joining the trust and donating next Wednesday. Two birds with one stone sort of speak. But will also be donating more the following pay day.
I'm unfortunately unemployed (for now), so will be donating £15 every two weeks until the deadline (26th July?). If the deadline's the 26th of July, that's 4 pay days £15 each time = £60 in total. That'll be me doing my bit. 8)

Not to mention thousands of football-loving plastics in the Grimsby area who rarely if ever set foot in BP but watch "their" team on sky. At least some of them might give a few quid to help assuage the guilt they feel on living a phoney life.

Before you leave for the pubs this weekend, make a donation and get a 'oh when the Town' t-shirt for £20
Only 2500 of our normal home crowd and 10,000 from the wembley following still to pledge then!
Though I guess quite a few of the 15,000 at Wembley would have been families who might pledge once, so maybe even if everyone pledged once per household, its 5-10,000. Still, if another 4,000 people pledged £10 each that would still get us to nearly £80k plus the Trust and Mullens, less costs.
In the same way that I often think that the start of a Town game, we'll be lucky to get a draw, in the hope of being pleasantly surprised, I think we'll do well if the total ticks up to £50k, but that still is a massive total.

One thought I had, prompted by the comments re our 3000 stalwarts for home matches, is why not set up a date for a ghost match (or use one of those FIFA games) on a saturday in early July & we all pay the £18 gate money as if attending.
Appreciate no game actually takes place but if we all had a 24th home fixture & contributed accordingly would double what we already have and get us close to that £100K

I think in the long term ripping gtfc fans off is not in their interests they set the rules and the trust has opted for this option for the transaperency it provides

They're the number 1 UK based site of their type and have worked with the government and other major clients. We did due diligence and decided they were the best option. We wanted the transparency a crowdfunding site would offer, rather than just collecting pledges privately.

Gotta say someone (bax?) is doing a fantastic job organising all these rewards to keep the momentum going. And all the comms to go with it have been spot on.
If I read it rightly, Lincoln's earlier attempt was a foul-up because they set the initial target too high so ended up with nothing under Crowdfunder rules when they failed to reach it. Whereas ours was more realistic so once passed we knew the money was coming in, and then the door was still open for more. So the Trust team got the strategy right there too.

Gotta say someone (bax?) is doing a fantastic job organising all these rewards to keep the momentum going. And all the comms to go with it have been spot on.

Easy to say now, but £20,000 didn't feel very realistic this time last week, believe me!

I guess it's always nervy when you launch something, but the positivity oozing around the other week, and all those £100 pledges on here made me think it was doable. Though not in a day!
What has surprised me is that it's still ticking over at over a grand a day. You keep finding those rewards and people keep finding money down the back of the sofa. Big IF but, if we can keep going at this rate....2 more monthly paydays before the end should help keep the average daily total up.

£29 off £43,000 if anyone wants to do the honours?
We have loads of pledges still to come. The BBQ one today was a great bit of fun and raised £600. Hopefully people will continue to be generous and support the club.

Who would have believed after around a week we'd have that sort of money raised? Unbelievable. Kind of surprised there's been no official statement on this from the club yet given how amazing it is.

My first £15 pledge made, reward I went for was a 1 year membership of the Mariners Trust.
Another 3 pay days before deadline day, another 3 more £15 pledges to come. 8)

The incentives are worth the investment alone. I'm waiting until pay day to pledge again but fully intend of getting the Dock Tower T-Shirt and tickets for the Lloyd Griffin comedy night.
If we can get the Harry Haddock's sponsored then that might just tip us towards the £60k - £70k marker.
I would love to help organise a party of some sort to celebrate the success. I DJ locally and get numerous venues to help out. I also have talked about organising a Christmas Children's party for Junior Trust members and there family.
How exciting is it that we have such a generous community that care about the club so much that they will go above and beyond to raise funds?
Posted by: bax, June 10, 2015, 2:30pm; Reply: 671
There will be some kind of party to raise funds, details TBA!
New reward added just now:
We've just added a new reward to the crowdfunder page - a pair of annual badges to Doncaster Racecourse. Very kindly donated by Alan Alger, we have two pairs of annual Doncaster Racecourse Members Badges. They include all race meetings at Doncaster for the remainder of 2015 and some reciprocal cricket at Yorkshire CCC. Also includes some reciprocal days of racing at other courses. Brilliant for St Leger! Pledge £300 per pair and they're yours! All money goes into Paul Hurst's transfer kitty.
That's a brilliant gesture from Alan. Worth a bit of money them.
Estimated value is £400 per pair, so £300 a pair is an absolute bargain!

Alan Alger has gone up in my estimations after that.

I think it is superb that outside agencies and people not connected to the club directly are partaking in this fund raising initiative. Well done to all involved. Bax, I have a fully signed shirt from 2006 which is unworn, I would be glad to donate it as a reward if you believe it will be of any interest to someone.

At the risk of repeating something already said (as there are 69 pages and I don't know what I have read and what I haven't!), having seen Alan Alger's donation and the Comedy night I did wonder what promotion of the availability of these offers is going on outside of these boards. The comedy night tickets need promoting within pubs and the college Student union, also on the notice board at the bog employers in Grimsby etc. Also the Racing tickets should be pushed on Racing Forums...assuming there are some,
I think it's really important that we take money off non GTFC fans' at the end of the day if you go to Doncaster regularly and are getting a bargain do you care GTFC are getting the money??!!!
Anyone got any contacts?

Just thought, if it keeps raising a thousand a day till the end, 46 days left and there's £44,171 raised so far, we'd have a total of way over £80,000 come that deadline. And that's just what's raised via the crowdfunder website. As if it wasn't amazing at the amount raised so far, I wouldn't know what word(s) to use if it does keep up momentum (and I am sure it will). 8)

If it did carry on at that rate it would be over £80,000. It'd be £90,000. :) Either way, it'd be amazing.
Every day I keep thinking it can't keep on at this rate and am happily proved wrong.

So far last time checked 1199 backers who have raised just short of 45k.Good sum and respect to those who have chipped in but personally would be happier if we get more backers. Eg at least 2500 .With the fan base we have here we need to be tapping into that potential more. Likewise how many did we take to Wembley for the play of final?.If at least a third of that chipped in a fiver we would be raising even more

You do need to remember though that quite a few of our average attendees are under-16's so, like my best mates 7-year old, will have maybe made a donation within their Dad's (or Mums) pledge.
Oh, and still 8 places left in Sunday's sweep on the Slovenia England game if anyone wants to do a little bit extra to help the fund.

And get local business to sponsor some prizes for a huge draw this will surely help to sell even more St. Just a though I know slightly of topic but could be worth looking at.

As I mentioned before though, how many of our average gate are under-16. My friends 7-year old donated £2 of his pocket money but that only shows as one donation as it was in the total that his Dad donated. I'm sure there will be quite a lot of under-16's who have donated within a parents pledge.

Just incase people aren't aware...
The Mariners Trust is bringing back Harry as part of Operation Promotion. You can buy now via http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/gtfc They are £10 each or 5 for £50. You can pledge more if you wish.
Thanks to Histon Mariners and in2wrk.com for donating four-figure sums each to get this off the ground!

I don't think the dictionary contains the words to describe how amazing the Operation Promotion campaign has been. Those words just haven't been invented yet.
Fantastic effort on behalf of both the organisers and the supporters.
Well done everyone.

Posted by: 1mickylyons, June 18, 2015, 10:39am; Reply: 815
Just a suggestion Bax, I know people will take them with them ect but maybe a allocated game home/away for the return of H.H?
That's already the plan - once the Conference pull their fingers out and give us fixtures and then we know when we will definitely have them back, we'll allocate specific home and away games!
Posted by: Caesar, June 18, 2015, 11:07am; Reply: 820
Was hoping the designated away game could be FGR but actually as that is a difficult one to get to from everywhere in the country maybe a nice midlands game would be better for a designated return of Harry, obviously depends on fixtures but I suppose a standout choice for high attendence and lots of Harrys could be Lincoln
Posted by: Les Brechin, June 18, 2015, 11:11am; Reply: 821
Guiseley away would be good I reckon if it's around the time the Harry's arrive.
Not too far away and I'm sure we'll take a few more than normal with it being a new ground for almost everyone.

Just looking at the website, should there be another "clap" on the Fish T shirt, and does the "steaming in" T shirt glorify football violence?
When we were doing the fish chant I would suggest there should be 5 claps in the third row, and do you know what the term "steaming in" means?
After widespread consultation (and listening back to the crowd at Wembley) there are 6 claps and then 'fish'.
And yes, I am fully aware what "steaming in" means and I don't believe it glorifies football violence. There are kids who sing that song who weren't born when it originated. It doesn't have the same connotations it did 20 or 30 years ago.

Things must be going well if this is what we have to (try to) female dog about. We need PH to give a very slightly downbeat interview to take the heat off the t-shirts.

You know I'd never really thought about it, I'd just always kind of assumed steaming in was something to do with fishing boats :)

I think you are right. I thought straight away of the other meanings. "Steaming" is still used as a slang for gang robberies and "steaming in" is still used as slang for football gang violence. Sad to say, the idea of it referring to a trawler coming down the river to the Fish Dock gates is a long way from the memories of people today.

I wonder how many people really, truly, give a excrement? I doubt arry even really cares that much.
Does anyone give a toss? Serious question - please speak now if you feel the use of "steaming in" on a t-shirt is glorifying football violence.

Clap-Clap, Clap-Clap-Clap-Clap FISH!
2 claps followed by 4 quicker claps, not hard is it?

What are you on about?
It's an opinion. Just because you don't like it and don't care what it says on a t-shirt does not give you the right to get on your high horse to belittle the views of someone who is making a simple factual point about the wording.
If it was on a t-shirt I would not say it was glorifying violence. I might suggest it was deliberately provocative though, and might suggest not wearing it while travelling on the London Underground. There again, you might be one of those people who likes the adrenalin rush of doing such daring deeds.
The idea is a good one. I like it. People who have good ideas are usually sensible enough to check out if they are going to work like they intend.

I think you have to be of a certain age and/or mind set to associate the 'steaming in' part of the chant with violence regardless of its' connotations. I simply see it as our variation on a good chant despite its' supposed origins. The fact that people now associate it with a trawler going up the Humber is a good thing - it shows we're not all mindless idiots.

Going to try and persuade my brothers to put £5 each together (£15 in total) and pledge it for a place to see Lloyd Griffiths, and I'll donate my second £15 pledge (already pledged £15 to be a Mariners trust member) also for a place to see Lloyd Griffiths too. That'll be £30 towards the 'crowdfunder'.
Then I'll donate those two places to see Lloyd Griffiths to my parents. 8)

Anybody can any idea how to contact him ?
I very much agree Pete. With his family associations with the town of Grimsby, which helped make the Ross name what it is, why wont he support his home town club financially? There are ways and means to ensure any help given goes into the right areas. It is such a shame that we cannot get him on board.

Why on earth should he give his money away for no apparent reason other than his parents happened to have businesses here? I don't buy into that at all. You're making out like it's his moral obligation or something.

I have to agree with Dan.
But, I think if you want someone like that on board, you'd have to really sell it to him.
Football is a business, and businessmen (or businesswomen) will only put money in if they're either big fans of the club, or they see it as potentially good investment.

David Ross has a lot of enterprisers in this area,
Why does he put his money into that if he does not feel anything about his home town,
I am not asking for any commitment work wise from him,
Just a small donation, we know he likes football,
So a days interest on his vast fortune will not be missed,
Some fans putting a few pounds in is a vast amount for them,
A few thousand is nothing to Ross.

The point is people are choosing to give this money Mr Ross for whatever reason (probably he is unaware or not interested in the slightest) does not. Pardon the pun Pete free world and it`s his money.A nice email pointing him in the right direction may have an impact you could try contacting him via the David Ross Foundation if you feel that strongly?

She has made "appearances" in support of local charity but it would be an excellent idea if she was to headline an event in support of the fund along with some local bands perhaps.

Not fussed either way but his family did make their fortune on the backs of Grimsby fishermen, such as my Dad. They were cast aside as casual workers when the industry collapsed, with no severance pay and the pension pot disappeared into a black hole. In fact, the Ross lot can do one for my money.

Just popped a few more quid in for a Harry and a t-shirt. Have to say that the variety of items which can be bought and the way that the releases have been staggered and timed has been absolutely brilliant. Every time that the momentum of pledges really seems to have slowed something happens which seems to kick it into life again. I know it's a team effort but those behind the campaign should be very, very proud of themselves.

Rod Temperton came from Humberston. He wrote a lot of the songs on Thriller (I think). I might be wrong but I think you might be confusing the De Aston bit with Elton John's songwriting partner Bernie Taupin (who had a hand in writing "Grimsby" off the album Caribou which, allegedly was inspired by Elton's visit to B.P. as chairman of Watford in 1973/74.)

It would, but he needs to decide for himself.
He should take a good look at the Man in the Mirror, ask himself if he's Bad and Human Nature will dictate whether he donates or tells us to Beat it.

Its not just that his parents had "businesses here." His grandfather and father created a world wide brand that made the family household names and set the way for David Ross to make his millions.
Countless Grimsby families spent a lifetime working for Ross Group, they and the company depended on each other. Of course lots of their employees were dedicated Town fans.
I think it would be a fitting tribute for the Ross family to invest some money in the Mariners - I understand David Ross is a very, very rich man so it is hardly going to affect him. He obviously holds all the aces, but it would be great if the Mariners could get somebody involved who has the cash and contacts to really get us moving. A bit like the Swann chap at Scunthorpe.

That's absolutely not true. The club has taken significant donations from the club shop (as has been advertised a fair bit) and you can also make a bank transfer straight to the Trust (as others have done). You only need to ask and someone will help!

The way we lost in the play offs last year was demoralising, the fishy was not a good place. There were still people firmly in the Hurst Out camp and the attitude and atmosphere around the club was nowhere near as positive because we'd limped home rather than being robbed of promotion. If we'd done it last year, we'd have raised nowhere near as much IMO.
Don't underestimate how much an atmosphere and emotion can affect a club though. If (big if) we get off to a strong start I think the momentum will carry us and we'll run away with the league given the present optimistic feeling (WeGoAgain etc from the club and players). The danger is that we don't and the positivity fizzles out. But I do think this is our year.

It's been said on another thread (maybe by you Mariner91?). We just need to be prepared to re-act differently when things do go wrong. I don't mean blind optimism, but somehow keep that positivity. In practical ways: keep going to matches, keep cheering and not moaning at games.

Town fans will erupt with pride if we hit the 100k mark. Only 15k to go once we hit 60.
With the anonymous 2.5k donation, other cash donations and money that les has set aside from his sweepstakes etc then I believe we must be only 10k from the magic £100,000 mark?

Already in The Trust's account to be added along with the £5k at the end of the appeal. I'm hoping I'll have another decent amount to add to that with what I raise from The Pontoon Buster game too.

Not quite.
Best thing to do is concentrate on the public crowdfunder total and get that as high as we can and then at the very end hopefully we will have a nice surprise for people as an addition. I don't want people to think 'we';ve raised X plus there might be Y so that's it, we've done it'. Amazingly, we're still not even half way through!
Less than £500 to £60,000...would be great if we could do it today...

Direct donations would be better for the club though Bax as they wouldnt have to pay the 10-15% fee that these crowd funding websites take. This is great for smaller donations but anything over £100 I'd be looking at going direct to the club.

Crowdfunder take 6 per cent.

Yes they take 6% of the final total.
We discussed (at length) the merits of using a crowdfunding site and decided that the transparency was worth it. To be fair they've given us a lot of support and advice too, which we wouldn't have had if we hadn't used them.

Also, £350 to £60,000.
And we have a fair few new rewards set to go up over the next few days to coincide with pay day!

PayPal charge a processing fee of 20 pence per pledge plus 1.9% of the Pledge amount will be charged by PayPal.
I used PayPal a lot, but I hate giving them free money, it's less than the fees associated with eBay. Wish you could just do direct bank transfer.
That's paid for by the pledger, not the Trust.
You can do a bank transfer if you wish (others have) - just contact the Trust on enquiries@marinerstrust.co.uk if it's something you'd like to do.

The wonderful thing about Crowdfunder is that it is a system that works to help build a head of steam on so many levels. Pledgers see instantly that their money has been added to the pot. Automatic satisfaction guaranteed. Pledgers can even control precisely when their pledge is made which means if you want to be the one that takes it over a threshold e.g. £50,000 or £60,000 you just wait until it is within spitting distance and strike! Because it is automated and the running total is constantly updated 'as live' people keep going back to the website just to refresh it. It's addictive and often that revisiting activity leads to more pledges from those who keep going back. It's dead clever UI or UX if you prefer. Pledgers can leave comments. This enable them to demonstrate their support and have the feelgood factor that they are in a community of pledgers all doing the same thing. Not only thi s but it is a hub where all the activity is automatically and immediately displayed which saves the Trust hundreds of man hours. The Trust don't have to spend time sending out update after update. It is there for all to see straight away. It's ace and I commend the organisers for selecting it. 6% is value for money especially when you think of all the needless bean counting that already busy members of the Trust have been saved. Now what shall I pledge for next?

I'm surprised you haven't arranged anything with the club with regards to the preseason friendlies?
Something along the lines of £30 or £35 for access to the 4 pre-season games with the club giving £5 of it to the promotion fund.
1000 tickets sold and its another £5k into the kitty and the club have guaranteed another £25 to £30k income.
The club have helped out whenever asked with signed shirts etc but wouldn't something like that just be an initiative the club could do? Simply transferring money the club raise to the OP fund for them to then hand back to the club seems redundant.

I doubt the club budget for many turning up at the friendlies so even a modest attendance probably brings in more money than they budget for.

That's a good idea Gary , not all our fans have internet access,

Bax order some buckets mate. 8)

Why not designate one of the games as Operation Promotion game, a percentage to the fund raising (it's going to the club anyway. Get 1-2000 extra on the attendance. The away team would probably like to play in front of a decent crowd instead of boring friendlies.
Do we have those inflatable clapper things available in black and white.
I suggest Notts County on a Saturday and make it a family thing??

You wouldn't really need to go round with buckets. Just stand a couple of people with buckets just inside the turnstiles as people are coming into the ground.

Do you think that all our energy, fund-raising and national publicity towards our promotions aims, will unsettle our rivals? It can't be helping them.
The money raised will fund new or better players, which should hurt them.

"Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has said he will donate his entire $32bn (£20bn; €29bn) fortune to charity".
With a lot of luck, and if he has heard of our great fund-raising efforts, we may have our largest donor! ;)
Quick, is he on twitter or facebook etc.?

The money would be used to "foster cultural understanding", "empower women", and "provide vital disaster relief", among other things, he said.
We could qualify:
foster cultural understanding - greater tolerance of Yorkies empower women - get back Grimsby Ladies who defected to Clee Town provide vital disaster relief - we need that now to get back in the league

I was actually hoping to keep it quiet, but it's actually coming to me.
Only one small delay is that it has to come via Nigeria to avoid exchange charges and tax. I have just e-mailed my bank details, passwords etc to my new friend. Prince Ngada Djambo who will be transferring monies shortly. This time in two years, Town will be playing in 'the Civvy Arena'. So glad I checked my email this morning 😄💰💰💰💰

A bit off subject but I heard today on the radio,
A yorkie worked out if everybody from the whole of Europe gave £2-76p,
We could wipe out their £100 billion debt,
He has opened an account and has received £1.3 million already,
I wonder if he is keeping the interest when he realises he can not get anywhere near the total needed.
Not a bad idea don't you think.?

A few will donate again towards the end to give it a final boost,
I am certain we will top the £100,000 mark by the time the other add ons have been included,

Still very much on for the 100k target. It is looking likely that we will need to raise 11k in 3 weeks. A big ask but from what I have seen of the generosity of our fans so far then we can do it. Maybe the trust could release a statement next sunday with it being the 2 week deadline to try and push fans to donate some more. Keep this up, UTM!

Whatever we achieve now will make a massive difference at this level.Hopefully the players do us proud this season. If the passion is there from the fans this will will make a difference as well.Ibrahimovic said this as well.50 % of the performance in a player can be attributed solely down to fans passion

Mmmm do I gather a bit of old leftist envy there.
I appreciate David Ross didn't come from a poor family and received a private education but didn't most of his wealth come from the build up of the Carphone Warehouse empire which he and a couple of friends helped build up to what it is today by getting into the mobile phone market at just the right time.

That's one of those lies they spin at Tory Central Office and their chums in the media. Why would it be "envy" to suggest that someone should pay more tax so it can be spent on other people? It's not particularly envious either to suggest that more people should be given decent life prospects.

Posted this on another thread perhaps should have posted here......
.I had an Idea about this, hopefully the trust will read.
Every charity nowadays has a run or a walk, the "race for life" the moonlight walk", the "colour run" etc, I have no idea how many of these happen in Grimsby as I'm an exile.
However I wonder if it's possible to do an "inflatable walk" maybe from the ground along the seafront to the meriian park or something similar and relatively simple.
The idea is you do the walk but take an inflatable with you, naturally all sponsored.
As part of this people take their inflatables along, hopefully a high percentage will be Harry's, thus creating sales. In addition though during the walk a number will be "lost", "deflated", "freed!" etc thus creating more sales for replacements!
Just a thought, please do with what you will, can anyone build on this idea even?

A bit late for this fundraising campaign, however, could the Trust design some basic merchandising that could be sold to fans? I ama also thinking of limited editions.
One example could be say 3 different types of GTFC car stickers. Maybe 100 of each type? They could be numbered (if possible) and have the Trust motif.
I have had the same 2 "GTFC" car stickers for years and would buy new ones. I would pay over the odds for these. A donation in effect, but getting something back.
Other items could be designed for fans to buy. Ideally, something that the Town Shop does not sell.

We're £50 off of £65,000. So if anyone can tip it/me over the edge would be appreciated.
This puts the grand total, after all extra contributions in AND all associated costs off, at £84,000. Which means we need to do £16,000 in the last 13 days to hit £100,000 net. This is achievable if we can all work together.
All suggestions on extra stuff are great and will certainly be looked at/discussed once this is finished. But if anyone can help push what's already available, the signed shirts, the Harrys, the tickets to Lloyd Griffith etc we can do it.

Surely the trust and the telegraph can join together to urge people to push the boat out for the remaining two weeks. Maybe a video or something inspiring to motivate everyone to donate that extra bit more.

Yes there will be bits in the Telegraph. What I mean is that if we all, as individuals, can each convince one more person to part with £10, it would make a massive, massive difference.

Good evening ladies and gents. I have a mint condition, Wembley 98 (Auto Windscreens) programme that has the cover signed by the whole squad. My next door neighbour was the coach driver for the club that weekend (he was allowed to sit on the bench with subs and staff that day) and he got me the programme signed. It's since lived in my attic in a plastic wallet and followed me house to house. I'm moving house this week and thought sod it,.let's see if anyone would have an interest in it.
If it went up on the operation promotion page, would people be willing to buy it for a few quid and how much?

Agreed. If the 3200 diehards who turn up each week can just stretch to a fiver then that is 16000 and would see us reach our target and would send messages throughout this league that the fans of Grimsby Town want promotion more than any other club down here.

No - we lose 6% to crowdfunder plus there's a cost to make the Harry Haddocks, shirts, mugs etc
Thanks for clarifying. Forgot about the 6% not being taken off the crowdfunder figure already. A great effort already by everyone involved and would be amazing to see the trust handing over one of those crazy massive cheques with £100,000 to PH before the first home game.

Also just £28 to go until £66,000 if anyone can do the honours with a Harry or three?

I'm assuming its better for the trust to sign up via the trust website than crowdfunder?
True. However it's still 30 quid donated and I haven't taken any of the 'physical' insensitives'. I.e t-shirt etc. I could have donated less and had something to show for it so I'm happy either way.

Less than a week to go (this finishes at 12.01 Sunday morning)
Great opportunity to bag a Harry Haddock or something else and get up closer to £100,000.

We hit 20k in the first day of operation promotion. If we can raise half of that amount in 1 week then we would hit the 100k mark. I hope the trust release some sort of statement this week urging the fans to dig deep for one last time for this great cause. UTM

£100 via Crowdfunder, £50 for senior life membership of Trust, £100 direct to Trust to avoid the 6% Crowdfunder :) deduction AND renewed my season ticket (even though I only attend a handful of home games because of distance from N.E. Lincs). However, I'll be up for the Notts County friendly next Saturday and if the buckets are out, I'll drop an extra tenner in to swell the last gasp contributions. Just hope my marriage survives!

£91,000 is a brilliant effort anyway, whatever the final sum. £100,000 is a nice round number, but for me it's just another number. Anything now is a bonus.

True, but it's a nice (admittedly arbitrary) target that would be great to hit. I think we'll do it.

Hopefully this is just the 'Boost the Budget' finale and that 'Operation Promotion' continues throughout the season and includes flags and a wall of noise troughout the season, a call to arms not for the opening couple of games, but for every game until we are back in the FL.

I like to think I know a little something about women and I can assure you she won't be mad, mate, she'll be blown away by the romantic gesture of you buying 5 inflatable fish. If anyone else is a little uncertain about spending anymore, then let me put it this way - can you imagine her face if you don't present her with a Harry in October? Doesn't bear thinking about.

758 harrys left. If the cost of them has already been taken into account for the £91,000 raised, then really it's £7580 in my mind just waiting for the next wembley / big game event. So I reckon we've raised £98,580 :)

Professional photoshoot package with David Clic has been donated and is available for £200.
This reward constitutes a professional photoshoot package of 2 hours of the photographers time in which approx 150 shots are taken. You will receive 6 fully edited professional shots that you can select from the ones taken. More available at an additional cost if required. It can be in his studio or at a Grimsby location. Suitable for portrait, weddings, children and fashion. A stylist can be provided. Only one available.
Now less than £1,500 to the £100K! The donations keep coming in at a frequent rate.
We could get over £105K or even offset the 6% deduction due. Thus clearing over £100K net.
I thought the 97k or whatever IS the nett figure after ALL costs?

BIG NEWS! We have hit £100,000 thanks to a generous donation of £3,000 from Grimsby company Eurolec Services Ltd!
A MASSIVE £100,000 in just eight weeks … that's how much Grimsby Town supporters want our team to get back into the football league next season.
The astonishing response to a plea for cash from ordinary folk has seen money flood in to Blundell Park from around the globe – from Australia, American and China, as well as the town and local area.
Club officials have been left stunned, and very grateful, as they were expecting to raise just £20,000!
Just two months ago the supporters' group the Mariners Trust decided to act to secure extra cash for manager Paul Hurst's transfer budget – determined to give the team the final push that is needed, after last season's massive effort at the Wembley play-off final.
Operation Promotion Budget Boost campaign was launched – and already there have been more than 3,500 donations made by almost 2,000 supporters – putting £100,000 into the coffers!
Online cash pledges have flooded in, with fans also buying up one-off gifts and experiences including a new-style Harry Haddock, alternative stadium tours and more.
Among the top backers was Mariners fan Andrew Newman, who forked out £2,500 to be officially registered as a Mariners player for the 2016-17 season.
He told the Telegraph: "I love the club and I want us desperately to get back into the Football League.
"Every little helps for a club like ours to try to push for promotion."
Grimsby-based Eurolec Services Ltd, based on Wilton Road, an electrical and mechanical engineers and contractors business, provided the icing on the cake last night when they pledged £3,000 – to take the fundraising campaign past the £100,000 barrier.
Town boss Paul Hurst said: "I already knew how important this club is to the fabric of the area, but it has been incredible to see.
"To everyone that's made a contribution, no matter how big or small, we are truly grateful.
"But we need them to keep coming to Blundell Park and travelling with us away from home to keep supporting us, so hopefully they've kept aside enough money to do that.
"Anything that you can receive on top of the initial budget is a huge help to me as a manager, but this is just incredible and is a massive bonus to me."
The Mariners have signed six new players this summer, including striker Omar Bogle and midfielder Andy Monkhouse.
The manager said: "I appreciate how expensive it is to follow football and, at the minute, with the way things are, not a lot of people have spare cash, but they've dug deep for the football club.
"I'm sure it's something that a lot of other football clubs will look to imitate, but I'm not sure they'll have the success that we've had – it's nice to be the leader in that respect, rather than just a follower.
"It's brought everyone together. Since I've been here, I've noticed a gradual improvement in the relationship between the fans and the club, but certainly last year, in particular, that relationship increased quite considerably."
Dave Roberts, of the Mariners Trust, said: "It's been absolutely incredible. We set off hoping to bear the £20,000, with a figure of £30,000 in our minds privately, but it's just gone so far beyond everyone's expectations, it's been unbelievable.
"The support from the fans and local companies has just been superb and just goes to show how much affection there is for this special club."
Peter Savage, of Eurolec, said: "Operation Promotion has been the talk of the town and the support from supporters has been incredible.
"As a business about to celebrate our 25th anniversary we wanted to mark the occasion and felt this was a fantastic way to do it.
"As a local business, and as supporters of the football club, we wanted to do our bit.
"And with the Mariners Trust so close to achieving their target we felt it was only right to push the grand total past the £100,000 landmark."
Euromillions winners Lee and Sue Mullen, now on the board at Grimsby Town, offered to match the amount raised to a maximum of £20,000, with the Trust adding £5,000.

Absolutely marvellous that the total has passed the £100,000 mark and still not finished, with today's pledges and the auction tonight to further increase the total. You have got to admire the fans of this club, to raise that amount in the eight weeks it's been running.Got to be the envy of most, if not all of the clubs in this league and perhaps above. A massive thank you to all the trust members for their hard work in bringing this appeal together, without them this would not have happened. Very proud to be a Mariner and to part of such a magnificent group of fans. 👏👍😀

So proud not only to be a town fan right now but also of the town I was born and bred in. We get enough excrement publicity but for all of the locals (and some exiles of course) we came together and we raised £100,000 for OUR club, not because we needed the money but because we wanted to increase OUR clubs budget. The heartbreak of last season has brought every single one of us together and I can't imagine that many clubs would be able to do that. Finally I think its only fair to thank the Trust, the Mullens, every single person who has been involved or has donated to the project and perhaps that over zealous, bully of a steward that in my opinion started the chain reaction for this. Together we are stronger. So proud to be GTFC.

Don't think any other words need adding to what has already been said but still feel the need to agree with what has been said.
This started as an idea that was just lets chuck a few quid at the club. Our amazing support ensured we would do pretty well with that idea. But Bax and everyone at the Trust took the time to really make it an amazing campaign. The number of fresh ideas that emerged was stunning and everyone involved in organising it deserves massive respect for taking the time to implement it properly, and helping to make the summer seem a little more interesting while we were waiting to start again.
Every fan who has donated big or small has shown how amazing we are at this club. I have found opinions about your own fans are always biased, everyone will think their are the best, I think at Town we just happen to be right! :)
If anyone hasn't donated yet, even if it is only a quid do! The sense of belonging and pride I feel is kind of impossible to express and if you can share even the smallest amount you can feel it do.
So well done everybody and roll on the 8th of August!

It's definitely not over yet. We raised over £20k on day one, no reason we can't raise a significant amount over the next few hours. Finally got round to getting a Harry and a pin badge just now, just deciding on which t-shirt to get to conclude my spending.

Reading the Telegraph headlines this morning brought a tear or two! To be honest I could never have imagined we would be here today having raised over ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND POUNDS. Now I realise anything is possible. Congratulations to everyone involved. Thanks for boosting the clubs chances of promotion and putting Grimsby under the spotlight for all the right reasons (for a change).

I hope De Freitarse and all the nimbys are looking on and seeing what the club means to so many people in this town. I'm struggling to think of anything else that would get this level of backing and yet they say we don't need a new ground as we are poorly supported. :-/
Well done to all involved.

Other monies not gone through crowdfunder, such as the Mullens and trust donations. I'd imagine the Eurolec money is a direct donation too, so as to avoid the 6% surcharge. It will be over a £100,000 when all tallied after tonight.

IMO it is vital that #operationpromotion lasts until the aim is achieved. The fans need to give noisey support, home and away, and in bigger & bigger numbers.
Momentum is key and once this jugganaut starts, it ain't stoping until Leegus two ( or one!)
What we need to do is make this the start not the end

Thanks to all involved in this great effort and I like Ginny just hope this gets the attention of the local politicians I cant think of anything else locally that would receive this kind of support?Nationally were a small club with a small fanbase but locally nothing to come close im not having a pop at Lincoln in the slightest but the 12k they have raised is arguably what most Clubs would achieve with the fundraiser and the original 20k target looked ambitious.GTFC are not like any other Club this one is different because it`s ours now lets get back where we belong.UTM

It isn't just the money that matters, I feel that we all have a stake in our club this year and it's almost like us being out there on the pitch with the players. Sod the opposition, sod the useless referees, it's our team and we will all bust a gut to win this league.

I know its not given a given we will go up with this extra money but it will help.Other thing is the players will see the passion the fans have for their club and should help instigate them to play with more intensity and drive and hopefully achieve the dream we all share.Key is though take each game as it comes and maintain the same level of performance for every team be it Tranmere or Boreham Wood
